mayonnaise? (or am I having a blonde moment?)

mumoverseas · 09/11/2008 19:00

thought it might have been something a bit kinky coming from Amsterdam! mind you, guess it depends what you do with it!!!!

spottyshoes · 09/11/2008 20:04

Glad to be of service MS, I have flapjacks in the oven and tiffin in the fridge atm

When I got in tonight DH actually asked me if it bothered me him going to the gym so often (do hope someone on here hasn't been forwarding my posts to him!!) I said it did, he said he didn't want to upset me so wouldn't go as much.

Guess where he is now and yes SS lives with us for 5 days a week.

Ah so I'm not the only 1 getting kicked there then PT. L.O kicks my cervix really hard and regularly and it really hurts!!

Physio also told me to carry DS out front

MarkStretch · 09/11/2008 20:17

What is it with the tossing gym?

I told DH that after the baby was born I was going to get a membership for his gym and he can look after the baby while I go and sit in the carpark work out.

He looked like this

thehouseofmirth · 09/11/2008 21:05

MOS that would be fantastically kind if you could at least try. It's very much like mayonnaise and is called Frite Saus, our preferred brand is Calve but any Frite Saus will do! It looks like this. There are lots of little supermarkets dotted around Amsterdam. The one we used to go to is Albert Heijn.

thehouseofmirth · 09/11/2008 21:06

MOS - how do you think all that Gouda & Edam gets its distinctive aroma?

mrsy · 09/11/2008 21:16

Is that frite saus as in chip sauce?

thehouseofmirth · 09/11/2008 21:27

Indeed!

mrsy · 09/11/2008 21:57

Get me and my translating skills!!

Spotty - pass the tiffin...

Well, if you guys have the gym, I have the blardy xbox. John insists on spending the majority of his free time on one or other of his games, and doesn't understand that I object because his free time is also the only time we have together.

It has literally got to the stage where I have demanded ONE xbox free night a week, and at least a few hours on a Sunday when we can talk to each other and be adults, but on the other hand I do appreciate that he's making of baby free time to play so I don't object to much (unless he oh so subtly asks "shall I run you a bath tonight, my love?" which bugs me more than I can say...)

swampster · 09/11/2008 22:44

Doesn't that site you linked to ship to the UK at quite reasonable prices?

mumoverseas · 10/11/2008 03:56

morning all, THOM, will text/ring DD today and put in request. Please however bear in mind that she is a typical 12 year old girl and half the time can't tell her arse from her elbow but I will set her a challenge! Watch this space!
gym, whats a gym????? Actually, when I was in the UK for a blissful 10 weeks in the summer my DH was dragged along to our compound gym with one of his mates and went an impressive (for him!) 3 or 4 times a week. We are now however back to being slobs and he is competing with me again on the belly front!
hope everyone has a good day

spottyshoes · 10/11/2008 06:59

Morning all!

Oh I forgot to even mention the blardy PS3 Mrsy but dont get me started again

Work again today and tomorrow boooooo and I'm on "mum watch" wed, thurs, fri. Thankfully my aunt has come to stay with her until tomorrow night so I dont have to rush manially whilst i'm at work - maybe something to do with me sobbing and sniveling on the phone when she rang
So not around much this week.

Hope you all have a great week and dont work too hard x

mslucy · 10/11/2008 07:23

morning all ladies.
had a lovely weekend but a bit fried after another early start - 5:45 and raring to go.
But his behaviour has improved no end - have got tougher with bedtimes and also trying to keep the sugary foods to a minimum in the evenings - which is hard as he nicks them out of the cupboards/fridge if I don't keep a very close eye on him.

Are any of you suffering from the most rampaging heartburn/rib ache in the evenings? I've got to the point where I have to take my bra off at night and sit there with everything hanging out. Am eating rennies like they're going out of style - am going to ask for a prescription for something when I go to the midwife tomorrow.

Also getting the most violent kicks - literally shooting out of my belly. DH got quite a shock last night - it really was one of those "alien" moments.

thehouseofmirth · 10/11/2008 08:05

Thanks MOS - don't worry, I have a 12 yo god daughter & know what they are like! I'm not holding my breath!

Swampster, I'm confused I saw this on the website in their About Us section:
"Dutchsweets is an online Dutch food store based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and currently caters only to customers in the United States and Canada. It specializes in selling licorice drops imported mainly from the Netherlands and Germany, and other Dutch food items which are difficult to acquire outside of Europe."

MarkStretch · 10/11/2008 08:35

God my work are going to hate me.

Was all prepared to go into my meeting this morning when DD who has been up all night coughing, had a coughing fit, was almost sick, refused to eat and started crying saying she was so tired she can't face a day at school.

So I have sent her back to bed and told work I'm not coming in.

thehouseofmirth · 10/11/2008 09:07

No point in feeling guilty! Besides soon they'll have to do without you all the time. Enjoy your free day at home!

dinkystinky · 10/11/2008 09:14

Morning ladies. Spotty - you sound like you're being an absolute superwoman: I hope that the men in your life are showing you some appreciation for ALL the hard work you're doing (which they should be doing too!) - if not, use your xray vision to fry them on the spot Honestly, try to make some down time for you somewhere (even if it involves screaming at DH and your dad so you get an hour to yourself to breathe!) and try to retain your sanity.

Markstretch, THOM, Pink - sorry that your other halves have been annoying you/totally unsympathetic. Get Spotty and her superpowers around to fry them too! Is fine them having time to themselves - but is give and take and they need to ensure that YOU have time to yourself too - you are not an incubator and would like to have lives too!

THOM - thanks so much for the book recommendation: will give it a go.

MsLucy - glad your DS's behaviour has improved some (must be a huge relief) but sympathies on the ridiculously early start. Take it one day, and one battle, at a time hon. I am also getting those killer kicks that make may bump literally vibrate - like the baby is trying to kick his way out . Still prefer those to my bump than to my cervix - ouch! For heartburn - some of it is caused/exacerbating by posture (slouching forwards) so try to lengthen your torso (or what's left of it under the bump ) and lean back slightly. Also have found that fennel tea and chamomile tea - and eating little and often in the afternoon - keeps mine at bay.

Markstretch -hope your DD gets better soon. There are a lot of nasty lurgies doing the rounds at the moment, poor girl. And you make sure you dont overdo things too so you dont get it!

Had a nice weekend - DH put together DS's big boy bed (though his toys are currently sleeping in it and he's more interested in hiding in the box the pieces came in, in his cot), had several loads of friends over hadnt seen in ages and went all Markstretch and turned into a domestic goddess and actually cooked on both saturday (ragu followed by blackberry crumble) and sunday (pea and pesto soup and herb encrusted salmon) - think that's the cooking out of my system for another year now

THOM - I think you are Dutch websited out - the one you actually linked to was holland-shopping.com and they give per kilo rates for shipping stuff anywhere on the planet! Now you've got me wondering if I need any stroopwaffles or drops...

Questionkid · 10/11/2008 09:53

Morning all,

My Monday has started annoyingly as I got up at 6.30am and busted a gut to get into work early for an interview with someone to do my maternity cover, and the stupidly annoying interviewee hasn't turned up! Apparently she's having train trouble, but she's now almost an hour late. So I could've had at least another 45 minutes in bed. V unimpressed.

I went to the hospital on Saturday and fortunately my BP and sugar levels were normal. I've got to see the midwife again tomorrow to check it all again, so hopefully it will still all be normal.

My LO feels like he's spent the weekend doing somersaults. I've also noticed he's developing a routine - he's awake every morning and kicking away at about 6am - could he not wait another hour? Very inconsiderate.

I'm about to count how many working days I have left before going on leave. I really can't wait.

MarkStretch · 10/11/2008 09:57

QK 33 for me! Wooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Questionkid · 10/11/2008 10:04

I beat you MS - 31!! Only 31!! And at least a day a week of that at home. Plus once you chuck in a day's training I've got & the xmas lunch it's starting to feel a bit more manageable.

I CAN'T WAIT TO BE ON MATERNITY LEAVE!!!!!!!

KT1983 · 10/11/2008 10:17

Morning all, not had a chance to read up on everything over the weekend, but hope your all doing well

I went to a little bonfire party at the weekend...kids out numbered the adults, and lots of new babies...so ive been told all the horror stories possible about labour!

MarkStretch · 10/11/2008 10:18

31 woo!

Yeah I've got a days training tomorrow, 2 days off to ferry DD to Stansted and back, then from Christmas I have to be at home with my phone switched on, and then finish! Wooo!
