Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SummerLightning · 29/10/2008 10:23

Haha, these lists are reminding me of packing for 24 hour mountain bike races!! And that can't be good, as when I do that usually all the downstairs of my hall is filled with stuff, and everything just about fits into my estate car!!
I have this image of "Have you packed the tent? What about the protein recovery drink? 10 pairs of socks? 3 pairs of shoes? spare wheels?"

arti good luck on telly!! I'm not really breathless but it is stopping me breathing so well, and annoying me by kicking me in the ribs and wriggling around. I am getting a bit freaked out as it's so obviously actually a baby in there now!!!! Not just a few wriggles!

reban that is great news about the growth spurt!

kayzisexpecting · 29/10/2008 10:33

I don't know how I will cope packing my bag. Half the stuff is still in the process of being unpacked.

I was just doing a little painting in DS's room. Only around the window frame and my MW walked past going to visit someone who has just had a baby and she shouted up at me to sit down!! I'm bored of sitting down now.

JamInMyWellies · 29/10/2008 10:35

Kimberely sorry but PMSL at your list its almost but not quite as long as the amount of crap I lugged round when I had DS.

Reban fantastic news on the growth spurt.

We are the house of poo this morning DS has a tummy bug and so does the dog! yeach off to the pet store to buy new bedding for his crate.

pixsix · 29/10/2008 10:43

Morning all,

arti good luck on the tv, how exciting!

Indith good luck for your interview.

veggie so glad to hear that your dh is home safe and sound and that he brought you nice pressies.

kayz hope the unpacking is going well. Only 1 and a half weeks until our move, I can't wait!

chutney I love the name 'Matthew'. It's definitely on our list too.

LOL at the massive bag lists! I bet I'll be one with loads of useless stuff, I am v indecisive when packing at the best of times and dh is constantly sighing and complaining that I have packed too much whenever we go anywhere .

Annoying news this morning: my Ocado delivery got cancelled and had to be rearranged for tomorrow. Good news: they sent me a £25 voucher! (Sorry to those who find the halloween smilies annoying!)

We have our first hospital antenatal class this afternoon. It's a 'Parenting Workshop'. Exciting!

Have good days everyone.

katie3677 · 29/10/2008 11:20

Kimberly1979 · 29/10/2008 11:30

Sorry about the massive list. I thought it was quite amusing though. DH was cracking up at the whole 4 bags thing. He said we should just ride a donkey into the hospital so we could carry everything. haha! We definitely will NOT be taking everything on the list. Will definitely be taking flip flops though. Not sure I could handle wet socks! (yuck!)

arti good luck on TV today! Maybe baby arti will give you a break and let you breathe for your appearance.

veggie so glad your DH is home safely!

reban that's great news about the growth scan!

Hope everyone is having a good day so far!

Beans33 · 29/10/2008 11:33

katie - got to say, yours is really good - I am going to print that off and use it! I like all the others too, but I'm confusing myself with so many of them!!!

Beans33 · 29/10/2008 11:33

PS Like the "me" on the list as well - how on earth are you going to fit into your hospital bag???

katie3677 · 29/10/2008 11:40

LOL Beans. Hoping that DH will remember to take me! He nearly forgot in his panic last time. Left the house, put bag in the car started the car, ran back into the house shouting 'c'mon, c'mon'whilst I was a bit bewildered by what was going on - having his fricking Mother in the house watching Star Wars for most of my first stage labour didn't help either of our nerves!

kayzisexpecting · 29/10/2008 11:41

I like your list too Katie. Maybe I'll copy it!

Kimberly1979 · 29/10/2008 11:46

verso I think the night shirts I got would be great for not rubbing an incision. They were nice and baggy and you could get them in short or long sleeve. Plus they were dark in color and have buttons down the front that make for easy access if breast feeding. Not sure what would be best for trousers... maybe extra baggy ones with a draw string so you can control how tight they are around your waist?

mibbes · 29/10/2008 13:04

Olipop LOL at stingy mint shower gel !

These hospital bag lists are great ! I plan to pack mine this weekend at 35 weeks, eeek how did I get to 35 weeks so quickly ? !!

reban hurray for growth spurt.

Kimberley LOL at my mental image of you riding to hospital on a donkey on xmas eve !

It just dawned on me when I clicked on this thread that we will soon be checkig in to find out whose baby has arrived next... how exciting, wonder who will be first ...?

Indith · 29/10/2008 13:10

Mibbles get out and don't return until you are capable of making comments that don't scare the hell out of me. I am not having a baby "soon", I am having one in December which is waaaaay off into the future.

LAlalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalal

SummerLightning · 29/10/2008 13:25

Argggghhh, mibbes yes, go away!
Given that each thread lasts about 20 days at the moment and we are half way though this one, that means by the end of next thread we will probably have some arrivals!!!
YIKES!

katie3677 · 29/10/2008 14:11

Who started a Christmas thread for advice with newborns? Could you post a link please as I can't find it, thanks!

hattyyellow · 29/10/2008 14:17

pmsl at the bag lists! I took far far too much stuff last time, but I do think this time around I'll still take a fair bit of baby stuff - if I'm in for a section it'll be a few nights at least so I'll need more than a couple of nappies/babygros etc. Also agree re a bit of nice make up and nice shower gel etc. Great idea re the black and white photos!

Effie you're so right the Arnica Neal's Yard bath foam does smell distinctly like gin! Maybe that's why it chilled me out so much as a new mother - big alcoholic drink, bath smelling of neat spirits .

Saw the midwife yesterday who said my baby is doing well, good growth, healthy heartbeat and is in a great position for a normal vaginal delivery - head down and its back to my tummy. Last time round the girls had firmly settled into breech and transverse by this stage so at least I'm getting something right - even if it does end up with a section!

Arti I am very breathless as well- climb up the stairs and I sound like an old woman!

Dying to know what tv channel you were on!

Indith good luck for the interview.

I think I have discovered heaven. DH kindly came home from work yesterday with these www.greenandblacks.com/uk/productdetails.php?cid=7&pageid=27&pid=99. Have just scoffed two in a bid to get some blood sugar to start work this afternoon and am cleverly using up the resulting sugar rush on MN rather than research

hattyyellow · 29/10/2008 14:26

Oh my, it really is getting close isn't it..just had a peek at the november thread and they're like having..babies! It's not November yet! Eeekkk!

Beans33 · 29/10/2008 14:28

gulp

Beans33 · 29/10/2008 14:33

Now I'm going to have to eat my snickers bar out of sheer terror. Oh no!

hattyyellow · 29/10/2008 14:35

I completely agree, felt a third green and blacks chocolate flapjack biscuit was medically necessary for similar shock-induced reasons. Baby will start doing somersaults shortly with all this sugar!

kayzisexpecting · 29/10/2008 14:36

OMG its 2 days until November. Then December is next month!!! ARGH!!

I just can't believe I'm due in 6 weeks and 2 days. Where has the last few months gone???

SummerLightning · 29/10/2008 14:36

I am more than a little scared.

Beans33 · 29/10/2008 14:48

I'm terrified. Quite excited too. Can't read about labour in any of my books without bursting into tears of sheer terror! It just looks so sore!!! How will a baby's head fit out of my fannoir???!!!!

I've got 5 weeks and 3 days to go. Mind you, will probably be late.... I'll hang onto that thought...

jumpjockey · 29/10/2008 14:54

Afternoon all!

Those hospital lists are amazing! I was expecting it to say something like "a few nappies, nightie, toothpaste" but there's so much to think of. Really hope the HB plan comes off as I'd be bound to forget something vital otherwise. I dunno, my own boobs or something. My midwife recommended honey if things start to slow down, she swears by a few spoonfuls of honey in some squash for her ladies and they always find the energy boost really helps.

Gin flavoured bath foam? Yes please!

traceface congrats on your big day of achievement, you've got loads done

veggie hurrah that your DH is home safely

ladyT good luck with booking the driving test...

reban fantastic news about the growth scan, well done babyreban for catching up

jam hope the house of poo isn't too horrid.

indith fingers crossed your interview has gone well. they've finally advertised my job, but aren't actually allowed to have the new person start until Jan (financial crises and all) so no handover, I just have to leave loads of instructions!

arti definitely short of breath, I really huff and puff trying to stand up, and every now and then SP will have a good old stretch so it's simultaneous "Ouch get off my bladder you little " and "argh I can't breathe get your feet out of my lungs"

Re imminence - my dear H pointed out that as WHO reckons term is anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks, SP could come in 3 weeks. no thanks! Not nearly ready yet. Midwife said though she reckons it's going to come a week early. No idea where she got this from! Baby is apparently 1/5 engaged, and it definitely feels like there's a grapefruit resting on my bladder - thank goodness it's finally decided to go head down.

Verso · 29/10/2008 14:55

It's weird knowing when my baby will be here... unless it plans to come sooner of course (sorry, Indith). Loving the mahoosive hospital bag lists. I take it people are using Pickfords to get them to the delivery suite?

Spent a lovely morning nesting with DH. Been tidying up the back bedroom/nursery (rest of upstairs looks like a bombsite as a result ) but really looks as though we might be able to accommodate a real live baby! Heavens!
