Morning - hah! - all,

Sorry to hear about various bad DHs. Can I play? Mine was on the computer last night til 3:30 and wouldn't get up this morning. My lovely tiny medical student cousin has come over today (and brought her stethoscope so we have had a v amateur listen to the baby moving around) to help and they are just getting started and after they have done gloss paint we will go for lunch. At about 3:30. Then we have arranged for another mate to come over and help for about 5 so looks like tea will be at a very continental 9pm or thereabouts. DH does not seem to understand the need for regular mealtimes and has also just asked if I can come and help with the gloss painting (fumes and nausea, nice)... But at least he's in a better mood than yesterday, if not a mega-decorating mood. He keeps saying he's stressed out about having to do so much DIY but apart from yesterday when he was closely monitored by my stepmum I haven't seen him do more than about 3 hours on the trot. Meanwhile I am doing most of the other housework to give him time to do the home improvements. I think his score on Age Of Conan is about as good as it can be for the mo' so may have words tonight about MMORPGs not counting as DIY. Or indeed guaranteeing his continued ownership of a functioning set of genitalia.

Lacks, any more show or progress? I keep going to the loo sure that this time I'll see some show but no dice. My feeling about this baby coming early is starting to dissipate somewhat. IF I'm still here for xmas please kill me.

Vbab, nice one to your friends on the flowers. Love your DH's comment about not getting excited cos they're not from him - the only possible response is "It'd take more than bloody flowers at this stage, love". Bloody northern men. Are southerners any better?

Ladybuzz, yay for great-niece's cool name but for your niece with her dp going into prison. When are they going to tell her?

Ceebee, enjoy your walk drive - I think it is the right thing at this stage! Anyone calling you lazy can offer to carry you down the prom.

Obs, hope that baby is being nice and kicky for you but not actually causing pain.

Road rage, DH keeps telling me not to antagonise people as they'll hit him. I got really scared on particularly bad Sheffield roundabout (anyone familiar with University roundabout will sympathise) when I saw this car pulling out on us and all I could do was squeak as it got closer and closer to my side of the car and then missed us by about 2 inches. Mind you, that time I thought DH was going to pull over and splat the driver for me. I still wake up sweating about that one, though.

V SPD today and still v little appetite. I think it's just because I am so full of baby. All I want to eat is really bland easy comfort food like cheese toasties and I'm supposed to be cooking dinner tonight.

Must go, apparently we'll be leaving for the pub lunch any time. Not that anyone will still be serving food but I'm sure dry-roasted peanuts or quavers will do!

Afternoon ladies

Haven't been on for a while so has taken me ages to catch up. Hope you are all having a relaxing sunday.

I'm feeling really pre-menstrual today. Have period type pains and feel very teary. Have been snapping at Dcs for no real reason. Hope this isn't the beginning as I don't want my Dcs to remember the day the baby came, mummy was really cross!

Off now to chill on the sofa... really fancy sausage and chips from the chippy for tea (WTF never eaten that in my life!!).

Keep smiling....not long to go now.

Oblomov · 19/10/2008 16:15

Afternoon all.
Just catching up.
I have had a very bad hypo. Not good.
Have been to Blackbushe market this morning and bought another pair of shoes. In a size 7. normally 4.5. So now I have 2 pairs of shoes to wear. Exactly the same. One black, one pink. Hoorah.

MerryMarigold · 19/10/2008 16:19

Sorry about hypo obs. How can you control them? Do you have to eat when you feel one coming on or can you just not affect it at all. Even more reason to call Kings tomorrow and not feel like you are making a fuss. How are you managing to walk when feet so swollen? I am hobbling and I am not as bad.

I am usually a 3.5 and I have some size 5 fluffy, 'loose' boots which cost me £7. They are hard to get on and off, so am living in flip flops. The swelling tends to make feet hot anyway. And I am hardly leaving the house.

evening...

sorry about the hypo Obs; I hope you are OK.

Lol Betti....you sound like me this evening, but I think I've just overdone it.

Went shopping, bought pants and a new coat for DD. No nice handbags to be seen anywhere. Got DD measured for shoes and she has gone up a half size.....guess what, no shoes or trainers her size at all in clarks . so i'll need to either trail into town, or else go to the hideously expensive independant local shoe shop.

then we went to see the boys fishing and the hole lived up to all my expectations of it.....a fecking muddy puddle in the middle of a windswept field. DD wasn't doing too great by this time and spent half an hour shouting and screaming so I just brought her home. I thought she felt a bit hot, so got the forehead thingy out and the green light shot right off the scale. the other thermometer said she was at about 40.5 deg . she also had a really distended tummy and her tummy button, which is usually an innie, was sticking out like a little button. Anyway, a visit to the OOH doctors later and she has an ear/throat infection (no wonder she was screaming in the windy field) and her breath absolutely stinks. Poor thing. I feel bad for dragging her shopping now.

felt decidedly squelchy down below earlier, but nothing much there when I went to the loo, but I was wearing black knickers so difficult to tell . Was convinced I had had a show or something.

and at the me me me as well.

MonkeyMargot · 19/10/2008 20:23

Hana Sounds like a lovely weekend! Lucky old you. Apple crumble...yuuuuuum.
Lacks Oh dear, your poor DD. I can't believe you went to watch your DH and DS fishing...(what's to watch?) I don't get fishing. Though I'm sure it's a great bonding thing for father and son...!
Ooh - do keep us posted as to possible progress. Exciting stuff!
I must say, have felt a little odd all weekend - can't quite put finger on it. I am deffo "nesting" in terms of bursts of housework etc (polished silver yesterday) and feel out of sorts. But no obvious signs of labour.
Went to see my BF and family in their new house in Surrey. Had a lovely time - even DH enjoyed it, desspite there being 3 DC's under 5!

MerryMarigold · 19/10/2008 20:40

lacks, can't believe the lergie has hit your house AGAIN! You must be right sick of it, though still not moaning, you supertrooper. hope it's over and done with quickly, esp if the moistness is going to progress to a baby.

margot, maybe we will be texting each other on wednesday. how cool would that be? i need my missing triplet so someone has to give birth on wed.

miraculously, ds has gone to bed with no fuss for the first time in 2 weeks. maybe it is because i spent a couple of hours focussed on just him before bed and put him to bed. mmmmm...maybe i speak too soon,i hear footsteps, darn. he has been in there a good 20 mins.

hana, i was feeling smug too about dh. he's been quite a star all weekend but is about to requisition the computer, i fear.

saurusgirl, hope the decorating has made loads of progress this weekend.

MonkeyMargot · 19/10/2008 20:50

MerryM - would be super if it happened this week!!! Except I'm still working, but hey ho. What do you mean by "missing triplet"? Were you originally PG with triplets?

LackaDAISYcal · 19/10/2008 20:58

can't believe I'm sharing knicker moistness with a bunch of women I've never met

in fact I wouldn't even share knicker moistness with my BFs!!

Just had what was either a big bad old BH or a mild contraction ........phhhheeeeeeeeewwwwww did it sting . I had to stand up, but could only get halfway up so was sort of squatting and leaning forward and rocking from side to side all at the same time. DH just laughed . I think I may just have eaten too much chinese takeaway though!

MonkeyMargot · 19/10/2008 21:03

Oh mi goodness Lacks - you're having a BABEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

misdee · 19/10/2008 21:07

oh lacks, i had one last that last week. i huffed and puffed through it. was just the one but it scared me.

well i went back to bed. refused to cook a full roast dinner today. did some painting instead. hoping to persude dh to put babys wardrobe together tomorrow, so i can put some stuff away.

sparkletoes · 19/10/2008 21:13

MonkeyM I have to say I would prob have had same reaction! I do think being PG means your protective instinct kicks in but that kind of behaviour always makes me

LOL at getting your own back on the van driver LadyBuzz excellent!! As for your poor niece...

Grrr at your DH Ceebs, had run in with mine earlier too, they just don't geddit do they? Tired, hormonal, achey, more tired & getting bigger by the minute - how would they bloody like it!!!

Goodness Daisy your lot have really been thru the mill recently. Hope they are all just getting it all out their systems before baby comes.. (hugs)

Sorry to hear of the hypo Obs hope you are ok...

Hope you enjoyed your crisps & nuts Ruthy

Sorry have now had mental blank, apologies to those I have missed...

LackaDAISYcal · 19/10/2008 21:42

I've had another one....and had to get DH to rub my back.....while I cried

tis too much food; tis too much walking; tis too much humphing 16mo old around; this is NOT it!

I'm sure it'll stop if I go to bed.

chocolategal · 19/10/2008 22:26

anymore daisy ??

havent read through properly yet, the rubbing your back bit just caught my eye!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 19/10/2008 22:31

Just "cleared my system" and have had a few more twinges, but am now thinking it's the same bug the kids have got . DS has just thrown up again and DD is obviously very unsettled. This is SOOOOOO not the night to have a baby.

I'm aware though that tummy bugs can bring on labour

chocolategal · 19/10/2008 22:46

you must be around 37weeks daisy is that right?
are you going to phone the MW/hosp? or see how it goes overnight?
looks like between your "twinges" and poorly DS you are in for an eventful night

LackaDAISYcal · 19/10/2008 22:50

37.5 weeks, so not worried about the baby coming too soon. Just being born into a sick house!

We had to go to the out of hours surgery with DD this afternoon and there were lots of ill people and sick bowls everywhere as norovirus is rife here again. I'm worried DS has picked something up there as he used the loo, and isn't the most conscientious hand washer

how quickly would another bug manifest itself? surely a few hours is too quick?

chocolategal · 19/10/2008 22:56

he'll have a lowered immune system from being poorly anyway but it still might be the same bug getting out of his system.

hopefully he isnt as sick as a couple of days ago, he (you all!!!) must be knackered!

LackaDAISYcal · 19/10/2008 22:59

thanks

It's great having medical professionals around

One of the women on my last AN thread was a HV; she came in handy I can tell you!

chocolategal · 19/10/2008 23:04

hope you have as restful night as you can daisy!
im guessing the docs gave you something for your DD and just continue with fluids and or whatever your DS can keep down, hopefully he is over the worst of it tho!

and bloomin well look after yourself or you'll have a 3rd darling child to look after tonight!!!

report back in the morning.....night night

LackaDAISYcal · 19/10/2008 23:07

night chocolategal

he is watching Independance Day and I doubt we'll get him back in bed in a hurry

missygoo · 20/10/2008 00:42

Oh how exciting daisy I wonder if you are having your baby!!?
Will be checking in tomorrow morn and hoping to have an update!!

I was so bad once when it came to bad drivers. Well, really he wasn't bad, just not very thoughtful.
I was walking along and was half way across a road, at a junction, when a car came up and stopped at the junction right in front of me, making me have to walk round, instead of waiting a few feet back so I could pass. When I got to the back of his car, I swung my bag at it in anger (it contained a wee travel changing mat) but it made such a clunk I was mortified! I didn't even think about it until I had done it and then walked on down the road praying that he wouldn't shout after me or anything.
So dumb
But it was really inconsiderate, no?
Aren't you tempted sometimes though? I mean pedestrians are meant to have right of way!

I had a bad day with my DH today as well, funnily enough.
His Dad is up, with a friend, to put in this new kitchen of ours. DH is assiting, though DIY is totally not his thing. We had a big old fall out, over the phone cos I wanted a progres update before waking my own dad (I am at my parents until kitchen is done, to stop myself from helping). My dad had just completed his nightshift but was going to go out, did go out but all were still asleep, so came home again to sleep himself. This was after they had agreed that they would be up for him. So I was already When 4 hrs later I called for said update and got balled out for chasing and questioning them on how much they had done in that time etc. Totally not what I meant, and an over reaction on DH's behalf I reckon.
Was so cross cos then he said, we are ready for him now. Oh right and my dad is supposed to now jumped out of bed to come and help??

All so silly in hindsight, not communicating well cos of the distance between us, and FIL being there makes DH act differently, more bolshy and 'I will not be told what to do my a mere woman' type attitude which he does not norm have. Least not enough to make my blood boil.
His dad does not even have that attitide, at least not toward me, but DH seems to think that he must act that way to impress daddy
Men!?
God you guys must think I am awful, all I seem to do on here is moan about my DH!

MerryMarigold · 20/10/2008 03:08

missygoo, here is where moaning is best! keep it going. if i were you, i would have phoned and woken them up, after they agreed to be for your dad n'all. so, they got off lightly i reckon! glad your dad got some sleep though, poor chap. how long before they finish? you are lucky anyway, as we would have to pay sonmeone a small fortune to install a new kitchen!

margot, i was 'pg' with 'triplets' for 2 weeks. found out at scan when 14 weeks. next scan at 16 confirmed it again, but lady wasn't sure so arranged a scan in main ultrasound rather than antenatal. 3 people did it and all confirmed twins not trips, and other scans had seen phantom babies. i was soooooooooo upset after spending 2 weeks on adrenaline high and getting head round 3. good luck with still working - unbelievable - and you are further on than me, you know, i think almost a week ahead!

lacka, wonder if twinges are back! it's so exciting to read it happening. i do hope someone can share some of their labour with us on here (choco, cricri, margot, the homebirthers, we expect a blow by blow account ).

tegan · 20/10/2008 07:42

Good morning ladies

Well we are on the count down now. I have 5 wks to go and can't wait for this to be over and hold my little boy and get on with normal life again. Both dd's are fed up with going to school in the car and would rather be walking, but bump won't allow. and poor dd2 just wants a proper cuddle from mummy without being kicked and pushed out of the way by her baby brother.
