Croydon mums due November/December

..... anyone interested in a two day NCT antenatal course on the 2nd and 9th November? I've got a few booked on but I need another two mums for it to run.

The two days run from 9.30 - 4.30 two Sundays in a row in central Croydon, and the breastfeeding class is on the 3rd in the evening.

Cost is £240 (sorry - prices went up last year), but you get a 50% discount if household income is between £15K and £25K.

Under 15K household income the course costs just £20, also same price for full time students under 22, under 18's and for those on income support/job seekers allowance or in receipt of council tax benefit, incapacity benefit or housing benefit.

Day one covers physical skills and coping strategies for labour, tips for births supporters, pharmacological pain relief, c-section and assisted birth.

Day two covers recovering from the birth, surviving (and enjoying!) the first few weeks with your new baby, coping with crying, recognising when your baby is ill, sleep issues, keeping your baby safe, and practical baby care skills.

...... plus anything else you want to cover on both days - you set the agenda.

The classes are fun, interactive and contrary to popular belief about the NCT are not geared only towards those mums hoping to breath their babies out under water with no pain relief and to the gentle sound of lactating whales!

If you want to know more you can email me on [email protected] (you can call the central number for courses here: www.nct.org.uk ) but the Croydon booking clerk only works on a Monday and Tuesday morning so wouldn't get back to you straight away.

Thanks!

hi fabsmum. am a croydon mum due june so no use on your request i'm afraid but i have another question i keep meaning to ask. do you run antenatal groups for second time mums? i've seen the may june ones on the web but not sure if they're suitable for me.

Are you thinking of a 'bumps and babes sort of thing', or a refresher class?

My local children's centre (I'm in Thornton Heath) are quite up for me running a refresher course there. Might be able to run it as a free course, but I'd have to see what funding is available.

Where are you based?

Try emailing the postnatal volunteer in the branch. She should be able to help if you're looking to meet other mums having their second.
