ajm200 · 16/10/2008 08:00

Fingers crossed for you heather!

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/10/2008 08:06

Good luck heather! Any progression?

rowanmac - breaking your waters is induction, so if they want to wait til Monday (why?) then I don't suppose they'll agree. Actually if they don't want to do synto til Monday then they really can't break them today, as you only get 24 hrs after ARM compared to the 72 after a natural break (because the risk of infection is higher due to them shoving stuff up and doing VEs to check progress). Sorry.

A new thread! Ooohhh... [claps hands]

It's 3pm here and I'm still in PJs. Never seem to get out of them really [slob emoticon missing]

Congrats tooshy and pistachio!!! Home births, wow! Well done!!

CSWS: can I join the post natal thread for husband jealousy?? My dh has just returned from work trip and is not exactly helping much, but rather demanding attention and in favour of letting Tienette 'cry it out' [argh]

Seriously, what do I do when she's been well-fed, winded, burped, snugly tucked in at right temperature but crying/whining and refusing to sleep? Any ideas? I feel quite helpless...

nuclear · 16/10/2008 08:10

Monday rowanmac !!! Fingers crossed for you that something happens before then - sending you good vibes....also sending good vives to AJM - poor you you sound as though you are getting really fed up now, doesn't sound nice to be in that much pain - and it also sounds as though your doc is a bit ...well unsupportive ?
Hang on in there - are you managing to rest/sleep ? If you are in this for the long haul you need to take good care of yourself. x

Good Luck to you too Heather x

had a dream last night that my waters broke... wishful thinking methinks.

....scuttles off to look up pressure points for labour on google.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/10/2008 08:18

Pick up and cuddle is often a good option Alexa . Unfortunately babies don't read the same manuals as us .

well still getting pains but not in a regular pattern.every 10 minutes or so. have kept DH off work though and mum is on alert to collect DD at lunchtime ish. gonna go for a nice bath now and then gonna stick the tens machine on. then i'll see how i am before ringing the MW as i have a hb booked

Alexa808 · 16/10/2008 08:39

thank you both for the quick replies. have done this, now with T in arms...all quiet and sleepy eyed.

ajm200 · 16/10/2008 09:06

Alexa, there's nothing worse than an unhappy baby when you are a new mum, it can be so frustrating. Sometimes cuddles and motion help. You could try taking her for a walk in her buggy or a sling. My son couldn't stay awake in the car or buggy. Sometimes there is nothing wrong at all, it's just her only form of communication at the moment.

Rowanmac, Fingers crossed that they do something for you soon. There is nothing worse than being stuck in hospital just waiting.

Feeling more positive today. Slept tummy down on a big pile of about 12 pillows and the backache has really eased so I'm taking DS to playgroup. The contractions are still very irregular so I thought a walk would help. I was going to walk the mile to playgroup but DH ratted me out to my friend and she's picking me up now.

heather1980 · 16/10/2008 10:51

well this is it girls baby is on its way! started contracting at 5am, mw just been and i'm 2cm dilated but my waters are bulging out of my cervix so could go at anytime. she said that i should ring 999 if they go coz it might be really quick after that and she might not get here in time for the delivery! sat here on a pampers bed mat!
not sure if i fancy a bath or a walk but want it to be over now as i'm 5 days over and fed up.

rowanmac · 16/10/2008 11:10

Its all systems go here bp sky high so off to labour ward for ARM soon.

I have found new method for IOL, the Mumsnet stupidity thread, read 1st 20 pagesfrom 6-8am this morning, crying laughing and went to toilet to find large show. pepperrabbit give it a try it'll occupy you if nothing else.

Good luck heather and ajm see you on the other side.

jenwa · 16/10/2008 12:57

Good luck rowanmac and Heather

I wish things would start happening for me seeing MW this afty.

nuclear · 16/10/2008 12:58

Heather - sending you good vibes best of luck
Rowanmac - wishing you all the best too
AJM - how are you getting on ?

this is sooo exciting.....

ajm200 · 16/10/2008 13:05

Good luck Heather and Rowan.. can't wait to hear your news soon

ajm200 · 16/10/2008 13:08

I'm not but did manage to ease the backache a lot. I've basically given up and I've decided these are just BHs. The MWs say it is early labour still but it is too slow and I don't want them examining me every 12 hours and saying I've made between 0-1 cm progress. Its too disheartening. Told the MWs I'll call them when I have contractions at less than 15 mins... so labour watch is officially off here.

SmudgeyDoodle · 16/10/2008 13:15

Good luck Heather and Rowan. Sorry things seem to have eased off AJM but you are a bit hopeful cos we've still got nearly a week and Nuclear and I just wouldn't think it fair if you got in too early
Feeling a bit more positive about car. DH managed to find a company closer to home who reckon they can fix it for about half the price so fingers crossed that will work out. Made a lovely apple cake yesterday cos got friends coming round this pm. Anyone want a piece?

nuclear · 16/10/2008 13:36

ajm - you are being very impressively philisophical about all this.

I'll have a small slither please smudgey bit bigger....bit bigger

ajm200 · 16/10/2008 15:08

Just spent most of the last hour doing a 4 mile walk aerobic DVD. Lots of side steps, bouncing about and squats. My friend used it to shift her back to back baby a couple of years ago. Doing a bouncy aerobic workout this pregnant is definately an experience. Had to stop a few times for pains but made the distance. Now I'm off to nap as I'm shattered.

pepperrabbit · 16/10/2008 15:10

ajm I do feel for you! LO is certainly putting you through it at the moment - not helped by the doctors either by the sound of it.
Good luck rowanmac can't be long now - I can't believe they would keep you in as "at risk" but not induce for another 4 days ! They worry you stupid and then seem to think you're being fussy if you ask them why!
heather hope it's going well!
alexa (whispers) I used to park DS1 in front of the washing machine on spin cycle, or the dishwasher for a slow chugging noise - sent him to sleep in no time!
I've had another MW appt today, BP better today, very uncomfortable after sweep yesterday but no action - she pointed out that my cervix was so unfavourable that it probably didn't even count as a sweep and that booking my induction into the ante natal ward as opposed to central delivery meant the consultant still expects me to be unfavourable by Monday. At least she's told me the truth! I feel much better today and have given up thinking the baby may be imminent so I'm more relaxed.
Off to find the stupidity thread though in case that helps!

jenwa · 16/10/2008 15:20

back from MW, baby still lying side on so legs and arms sticking out all the time and getting back ache, prob simular to you ajm so uncomfy and have difficulty getting up!

MW said if baby not here by next fri she will come out and do sweep and again sat or sun before induction mon hopefully get things moving she said and MWs are better than Drs

rowanmac · 16/10/2008 17:05

Anna Ruth born 2.09pm, 7lbs2oz, 2hrs flat from ARM to arrival of placenta, gas and aironly as too quick for morphine, had big breastfeed within hour and now asleep onmy lap. She's beautiful IMO.

star6 · 16/10/2008 17:06

CONGRATULATIONS rowanmac!!! I can't believe that happened so quickly! Wow! Enjoy her

pepperrabbit · 16/10/2008 17:12
