Hope appointments go ok this afternoon Pepper and ajm. Nuclear I think this week is going to either drag or fly by. Just found out that we can get our car fixed for just over 2k and that we might get it back next Wed (but in Manchester and we live in Newcastle!) I really like the idea of DH travelling over to Manchester and back on my due date!

Smudgey The timing really couldn't be worse could it. Hope you can get it fixed though.

Won't be taking my bags as I've got a HB booked.

ronshar · 15/10/2008 12:58

Brilliant with all the births. Well done everyone and DH,s who are obviously in the wrong career.
I am typing one handed while William vomits/hiccups all over me
Just too let you know Popsy has been in since Monday being induced. Some kind of slow release stuff. Must be trying to go longer than CSWS..

All good here. Apart from the nipple issue[ouch].
off to find post natal.

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/10/2008 13:12

Ah poor popsy. At least she studied my thread avidly so has a fair idea of what she can expect.

Good luck with appts this afternoon.

pistachio I remember nights of wistfully looking in at a sleeping DH as I went from one DS to the other during the night in the week or so after DS2 was born! He settled down again quite quickly (he was about 22 months when DS2 was born).
Slightly bigger gap this time so even more shuttling to & fro I suspect to look forward to!.

ronshar · 15/10/2008 13:59

Heard from Popsy. Might be C-section today for her. Induction seems to have failed to do anything. At last popsy is going to be a mummy

AJM, will you just come along and get that baby out. I hope you are birthing right now.

Oh bugger for popsy. Are they going to try her with the synto drip first, in case that can get things going, with the option of going to c-sec if it doesn't work or distresses baby? This was tried for one of the girls who was in with me. Unfortunately she still needed a c-sec in the end, but it was worth a shot.

ronshar · 15/10/2008 14:28

Nope, Pops is in her gown knocking on the door of theatre asking when they can fit her in. nWatch out anyone who tries to push in front. Popsy just wants to meet her much longed for baby.

hedgepig · 15/10/2008 16:25

hello everyone just checked out the list and we seem to be producing a nice lot of babies. I hope everyone is well, CSWS just read your birth story wow an epic! Mine is here I'm really pleased that I managed a VBAC even if it was a tad medicalised

I got out of hosp with Oliver finally on friday he had been very sleepy and slow to feed and so had to be tube fed for a few days. he is now breast feeding a bit with top ups of expressed breast milk and formula so feeding followed by expressing seems to take hrs at the moment, but hopefully he will get an appitite soon and we can just breast feed.

rowanmac · 15/10/2008 17:17

Actually Im sitting here like a stunned mullet, headache prevents sewing or anything other than short bursts of reading, TV is via headphones and its too loud. DS was in with grandparents, seems perfectly happy, drew me lots of pictures and then trundled off far more excited about going in the lift than Mummy. Mummy of course got all emotional.

ajm pg seems to have more twists than snakes and ladders.
No word from jenwa she is usually up to date. Has our resident soap opera gone over to PN bethoo where are you. We need to know!

Rhian82 · 15/10/2008 17:43

Well I had a show this morning, so could be soon for me? or not, could still be ages! But at least I know my body's moving along and starting to get ready. Eek!

ajm200 · 15/10/2008 18:03

Had the scan, very hassled Doctor who was running over an hour late. Just stuck the probe on my tummy where the head was and that was it so still not 100% it is a girl.

Has written in my notes that due to prev breech and PIH in last pregnancy this is high risk and I should be induced ASAP and must deliver in hospital. Completely against what we have discussed, so I'm going to be ignoring all of that.

Contractions still irregular but getting more painful.. have had to breath through some. Guess MWs worse case estimate of the weekend was fairly accurate

DH has decided he needs a night out as its taking too long... so on my own tonight. Great support

pepperrabbit · 15/10/2008 20:09

ajm how frustrating! I'm glad you're ignoring them while the baby is obviously OK.

I had an equally unsuccessful afternoon. DH came with me, and was really useless just sat there when consultant said I had to wait another week to be induced - and I just burst into tears . He didn't even attempt to get me a tissue, or perhaps consoling comments, or even small talk to distract consultant while I composed myself!
Anyway, BP high, had a sweep (yuck) and she begrudgingly agreed to book me for monday morning and I have to go to my local midwife for a BP check tomorrow.
She said cervix v unfavourable, which to be fair is where I was when I went in to be induced with DS2 and it took 6 days, so maybe waiting 4 more is for the best.....
I'm going to eat chocolate, and sod the GD diet tonight.
PS, normally I'm a cheerful & assertive kind of girl not a mopey thing as I sound here!

loulou33 · 15/10/2008 20:27

Pepperrabbit - try evening primrose oil (3 tablets a day) and floor scrubbing to get cervix going - it worked for me and i delivered 3 weeks early. I didn't think the ep oil wuold help but seems its good for ripening cervix along with rasp leaf tablets (although chocolate is probably just as good ) hope it all goes well.

Joe fast asleep as is his brother so am catching up with mn and eating chocolate cookies too.

ajm for god sake will you have that baby - i can't bear the suspense any longer . you know its bound to arrive tonight if dh is out!!
xxx

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/10/2008 20:32

I had a couple of chocs a night the last few nights too pepper, and didn't seem to do us any harm.

Grr at your consultant ajm.

Off to read hedgepig's birth story....

pepperrabbit · 15/10/2008 20:57

thanks loulou & CSWS, I'll try to get some evening primrose oil tablets and more chocolate in the morning.

nuclear · 15/10/2008 21:27

hi all....
smudgey - eek i would not be happy about dh driving all that way on my due date

ajm - the others aren't wrong this is turning into a bit of a saga still at least you are moving along - a bit for you at the doc who did your scan though

pepper - chin up - get some chocolate down ya! (I had 2 bars today )

I have now made a promise to myself to stop second guessing when this little chappie will arrive, I have now come to terms with the fact that he will come when he is ready. Truth is I am not the greatest pregnant lady but tbh I am quite happy for him to stay in a while longer so I can try and get rid of these blasted piles. I had done so well all pregnancy and avoided them and hey presto 1 week to go and they make an appearance, I had an anal fissure after the delvery of ds and I in no way want a repeat performance of that debacle. Turns out though that mw was once a bowel nurse so she had lots of top tips.

emkay · 15/10/2008 21:32

Sorry you're having such a rough time pepper. Enjoy those chocs

We're in to see the consultant tomorrow afternoon to discuss induction - only just arranged childcare because I never thought I'd make the meeting... but here we are. Yoga teacher drew some accupressure points on my ankles last night which are meant to induce labour so DP is going to have some work to do this evening! No way I can reach them!

ajm200 · 15/10/2008 21:54

Hi everyone. I'm as sick of this as you all are. The midwives keep telling me I'm in early labour but I really doubt it. It's barely progressing at all. The backache
labour is so painful I can barely walk across the room Been in tears several times today and I'm not even in established labour yet. I just want it to stop now.

The DR did nothing to improve my mood. I was in the scan clinic but for some reason the DR decided to do the scan himself with a portable scanner, probably as he was pushed for time. He literally just squirted gel above my pubic bone and stuck the probe there.

Tried to tell me that there is a greater chance of the baby getting distressed as I have a history of difficult pregnancies but could back his suggestion up with any proper reasons. Was writing my notes while talking to me and said the decision to homebirth was mine to make but wrote the opposite in my notes.

ajm200 · 15/10/2008 21:56

Emkay there's an accupressure point between your finger and thumb that's supposed to work too. Try googling it. I can reach the points on my ankles, I know I have the right spot as it hurts but doesn't seem to speed this little minx along.

rowanmac · 15/10/2008 22:45

Consultant been in tonight, BP still high so keeping me in until mon when induction booked. My last labour was 2 1/2 hrs after waters went at home so I'm going to ask in morning if they can at least examine me to see if water breaking possible. If not I'll have to tolerate being here.If more dilated I'll try to persuade them to go for it so I can have a baby by lunch (and home Fri)

heather1980 · 16/10/2008 06:55

morning all, think this could be it for me, woken up with pains about an hour ago!! fingers crossed.
