Evening. Thought things were getting going but all seems to have gone quiet so perhaps it was just wishful thinking. Not many of us left now. Honeymoonmummy thanks for recognising my sacrifice in the name of science. Perhaps I'll try a bumper pack of mars bars tomorrow and see if that helps
AandMsmum sounds like your little one is fairly comfy in there. I had a sweep last Tue and the MW listened to the heartbeat again afterwards and said that it didn't seem to have noticed!!!
Flum that sounds like DH and me. A whole evening to ourselves and we often end up in different rooms doing our own thing.
Anyone else feel like changing the message on their answer phone to say Nothing happening so unless you are going to offer to look after DS for the day or bring me chocoate, then p* off!

MummyTheQueenOfDarkness · 26/10/2008 21:58

sparklesandwine gave birth to a baby daughter in the early hours of this morning .She weighed 8lb 13oz and her name is polly.

star6 · 27/10/2008 08:25

congrats sparklesandwine!
jenwa?

nuclear · 27/10/2008 09:19

Good morning all.

Got bad backache today

had a nice time at BILs birthday party yesterday - really took my mind off things.

congrats sparklesandwine!!!!

Anything from Jenwa yet?

Honeymoonmummy · 27/10/2008 13:13

Smudgey it seems unfair that you're always the guinea pig. I'll try toffee crisps...

Congrats Sparkles. HOpe it all went well. I think no news from Jenwa means things must have happened or be in progress. Nuclear - the backache sounds promising. Saying that, I had sort of contractions for ages last night but nothing has happened now. This baby is still wriggling like mad so not sure that it's run out of space enough to make it come out. Honeymoonmummy - I think toffee crisps sound a valid experiment. I've just been out with a friend and I had a toffee apple muffin which was lovely. Now eating a kids pick and mix whilst DS in bed. I should do some ironing but think I might just surf on here a bit and then probably read a bit.

SmudgeyDoodle · 27/10/2008 13:59

OOoooh Sparkles. Just taken in that this means your DD will be very happy. Evens up the numbers a bit!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/10/2008 14:18

Congratulations sparkles .

Congratulations sparkles ! I love the name Polly, but it just wouldn't go with our surname...
Am tempted to scientifically test some chocolate cake, purely to see if it aids the recovery from nasty post birth infections.
I am so glad my antibiotics allow chocolate eating even though alcohol is forbidden!

Honeymoonmummy · 27/10/2008 15:34

I'd say that was essential for scientific progression for the human race pepper.

I think between us we could get a Nobel prize here...

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/10/2008 15:43

I bought a choc cake from Waitrose today. Reduced as it has to be used today. Haven't decided whether to get it out when friend arrives shortly, or to save it all for myself [greedy pig]. Mum is staying for a few days so will have to share with her, but thankfully dh doesn't eat chocolate .

Flum · 27/10/2008 16:22

I tested out a slab of Waitrose Rocky Road yesterday and it didn't induce labour.

Today I am trying Sherbert dib dabs......

Have cleaned kids bedrooms, laundered and changed all the bed sheets and all towels, done all clothes washing. House sooooooo quiet without kids, DH and I going to Pizza Express tonight to use the Sunday Times 2 for 1 deal. Ho hum, all this free time is a bit surreal!

Wrapped up presents for dds from 'new baby' - a book each and a baby doll for the 2 year old and sparkly party shoes from Monsoon for the 4 year old. I think that will ease their discomfort at having to wait for EVERYthing for the next few months.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 27/10/2008 16:52

still waiting here too - sweep tomorrow, reflexology on thursday...come on baby!

hmm, might have ot go buy cake and muffins form all your talk!

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT [GRIN]

Phoebe Jasmine was born yesterday morning at 9:31 weighing a huge 9lb 2 1/2 oz!!!!! [ouch] dd1 was only 7 2 1/2!!!! It really hurt this time but then only had small amount of gas and air in between contractions so never tore, it all happened so quickly and now I am shock but happy.

Did try to do this via phone last night on ward but was not connecting. Will post proper birth story soon. Got to go cook dinner and sort some bottles etc. Am BF but thought need to sterilise just so DH can do some feeds

Good luck to those still waiting, really not long to go now.

star6 · 27/10/2008 17:59

Congrats jenwa!!!! I'm so happy for you!
Wow... Pheobe is 3 lbs heavier than my 3 1/2 week old! that's great! so healthy! I cant believe no tearing with that, though. lucky

Are you expressing milk for those feeds? And.... sorry.... making dinner??? Aren't you exhausted?
Beautiful name.
Cant believe you're home already.

star6 · 27/10/2008 18:02

Good luck gwmh! I'm sure you're next

Honeymoonmummy · 27/10/2008 19:56

Congratulations Jenwa!

Honeymoonmummy · 27/10/2008 20:00

Erm.... are contractions ever a dull period pain ache at the front that don't go away???

Honeymoonmummy · 27/10/2008 20:16

Ok, the pain went away again, it probably lasted about 3-5 mins tho, too long to be a contraction surely?

Ekka · 27/10/2008 20:30

Hi all, - our little baby boy was born on Friday 24th October at 2.25pm, a home waterbirth with a little bit of gas & air! He weighs 7lb 15oz (3.6kg), but we've yet to give him a name....

We're all doing well, though I'm knackered as baby seems to sleep all evening then feed at least every hour all night .

Congratulations on all the new babies and good luck to everyone still waiting. I've not had a chance to catch up with everything as dd is teething and has a lovely temp and cold so things are a little crazy here at the moment.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/10/2008 20:34

Congratulations Ekka, you were due the same day as me I think!

I'm currently trying to decide if my contractions have just started...

jenwa · 27/10/2008 20:44

star I have formula so no not expressing, I felt that last time I was expressing it was a waste as so many other things to do and then give DD her feed and she never took it all would annoy me as I thought I had wasted my time! Its just what works best and I like the idea of getting some formula in to them just in case something happened to me and baby needed something else urgently.
I do feel sad that by baby is a monster, was hopoing she would be another 7 pounder! She now seems small but thats as we are at home with a 3 yr old!

I was on a mission earlier and achieved loads, did washing, cooked DD's dinner, sterilized bottles, made bottles, sorted DD1's toy box, sorted toys in her room, unpacked gifts, came on here and facebooked friends and then bathed kids (with help of DH for that bit) Luckily Phoebe slept whilst I ran about! Sore now though as had a wee and its stings, got some grazing down there but no stiches!
honeymoonmummy Contractions usually last a minute, did you time it? Can feel like longer when it really hurts.

conrats ekka and sparkles Polly lovely name. DD wanted to call this baby Angelina! She is obsessed with Angelina Ballerina!

smudgey I was fed up last week too with people texting "any news" DOH!!! If baby here dont you think you would have heard!!!!!
I put a message on facebook to say I would let people know when baby arrives!

pepperrabbit · 27/10/2008 20:55

Congratulations jenwa !
honeymoonmummy any more pains???? This could be it!

star6 · 27/10/2008 20:57

didnt mean you should feel sad jenwa. 9lbs is healthy and good! I feel like im always stressed about ds gaining weight. am so impressed you got out of there with only a graze and you are back to normal already!
