emkay · 19/10/2008 19:08

honeymoonmummy - it could well be, you've got some classic signs there! But... speaking as someone whose had all of that for about a month now I'd definitely recommend not getting too excited! DP has been on alert so many times now that he's definitely getting jaded by the whole thing!

do you want an early arrival?

Honeymoonmummy · 19/10/2008 19:12

I don't really mind. I'm kind of set to go but I wouldn't mind a bit of rest and relaxation before she comes! Plus I have a hair appt on Thurs!!
Have you really had all those symptoms for a month? How irritating!!!

nuclear · 19/10/2008 19:21

This time round I seem to be having soooo many more false alarms than with DS - last time it just 'happened' no false alarms or anything.

It is v. irritating - it has got to the point now that I am keeping my mouth shut when I think something is kicking off as its getting a bit embarrassing.

I think most of it has something to do with wishful thinking though !

... but also simultaneously very nervous about the whole shebang.

longing now to be on the other side with a beautiful baby boy in my arms feeling smug that it is all over ....

emkay · 19/10/2008 20:42

Yes... and like nuclear I didn't get any of this with DD - just waters breaking and off we went. So with the first braxton hicks happening while I was still at work over a month ago I was sure it was all go at that point! It has been lovely to have the time on maternity leave to spend with DD and get loads of stuff done but I'm definitely ready now!

Off to hospital tomorrow for a check up... baby's got about two days to make an appearance if we're going to be able to use the Birth Centre, otherwise it's the labour ward for us.

Rhian82 · 19/10/2008 22:06

Baby82 was born late Friday night, 11 days early

Had hoped for home birth but ended up in hospital in the end for pain relief (just gas and air!), and had ventouse and episiotomy. Not fussed though, just happy with my adorable little baby boy! Back home now, will post a proper birth story later.

jenwa · 20/10/2008 07:32

Not sure if things happening. Rolled over in bed this am and trickled something in pants, clear fluid but not loads just enough to think something is going on, now got some period cramps. Could be awhile though but is due date today I have put pad in place and will see what happens.

congrats Rhian to your new baby boy.

star6 · 20/10/2008 07:44

ooooh jenwa! exciting!! I hope its your waters breaking!

jenwa · 20/10/2008 08:09

And me, would be sooo embarassing if i had wet myself!!!!

Sent dh to work and said I would call if anything happens!

star6 · 20/10/2008 08:47

Remember when my waters broke??? YOU said, "have you ever wet yourself before?" ha! you did not wet yourself, silly!

jenwa · 20/10/2008 10:02

star he he, I was only thinking that this morn its so weird when it is actually happening to you and you need someone to tell you that you are really not wetting yourself!

The cramps are still there but not at all strong, thought they were dying off but sort of coming and going but in to real pattern. I had such a slow labour with dd1 so not expecting things to happen quickly here either. I do hope that it is not on and off for days as that is such a pain. Could do with doing some more shopping but DH taken my car and dont fancy the thought of tescos. May do it online but then wont really know when to get it delivered!!! May ask DH to collect some bits on his way home.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/10/2008 10:04

Congrats Rhian.

Best of luck Jenwa!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 20/10/2008 12:05

congrats Rhian!

oooh jenwa really hope it's the start for you...am also really fed up wiht myself for thinking it's the start with strong BH's and crampiness that disappears within an hour...so I'm doing my best not to symptom spot anymore and at least it meant I got a decent night's sleep - slept from 10:30pm to 8am only waking twice to turn over, just wonderful!

am annoyed too though cos I got THREE lots of protogladins yesterday (clearly a 40 week pregnant woman is turn on for my husband!) and it has done NOTHING!! rubbish....

pepperrabbit · 20/10/2008 12:21

Hello all - I'm back!
That'll teach me to spend Thursday afternoon moaning about not going into labour.. .
Shall post proper birth story at some point and congratulations everyone else who had babies over the last few days -esp ajm. emkay sorry not to have waited for you and sending lots of labour vibes your way .

DH did a very matter of fact post for me, the man has no sense of drama - I can't believe he didn't even mention that the hospital was actually on fire on friday and you could hear the sirens/fire alarmsa nd emergency helicopters from the delivery suite, and we were within about 5 minutes of being evacuated!! The childrens ward was badly damaged but we were lucky, tho no visitors could get in as thye closed the hospital.
Had to stay in as something funny happened to my uterus and needed a 4 hour drip, but feeling better now.
I just KNEW someone would mention Jessica Rabbit!!! Luckily in real life no-one knows of my rabbitty-ness so it's a private online joke!
(tho today I do indeed have a Jessica Rabbit chest and it bloody hurts....)
Take care all

myjob thank you. Things dont seem to be progressing and only had another small leak but mixed a little with discharge (sorry TMI). Have not rang MW and not sure if meant to or not really as dont think anything happening. Just got some tummy cramps but nothing frequent. Also when stand up feels like baby is pushing right in my groin, bowel and everything else down there!
Cant believe Naomi is a month tomorrow!!! How quick has that gone!

pepperrabbit Wow what a drama!!!!! Cant wait to hear it all in full

girlwithmouseyhair glad you had a good sleep, if things dont happen here that is what I aim to do tonight. Am shattered and not nice company to DD at mo who wants me to be her climbing frame and trampoline!!!

hansnava · 20/10/2008 15:49

hi all,
jenwa sounds like it could be the start of things for u good luck.

congrats to ne new mums

well today is my last full day of being pregnant as i have my section tomorrow.
im really starting to get nervous now. plus my dd has a really bad cough and has had temp all day, which has made me really as she probably wont be able to come up hospital and see me tomorrow and i wanted her (apart from dp) to be the first person to see the baby.

nuclear · 20/10/2008 17:02

thinking of you jenwas

best of luck tomorrow hansnava girlwithmouseyhair - glad you got a good sleep - makes all the difference some days doesn't it?

emkay - hope you get to teh birth centre.

bethoo · 20/10/2008 17:08

hi ladies and congrats to new mummies. cant keep up with you all as hardly have time to myself with destructive ds and newborn dd who will not remove herself from my massive boobs! she gained 8 ounces in first week alone the little guzzler and will not sleep in moses basket so is co-sleeping. ds co-slept til he was 9 months. though right now dd has terrbile nappy rash all over her bottom and feel terrible, ds is constipated and also has nappy rash! though i am loving it. new dp is a godsend, would have had a breasksown by now i think. he cooks most evenings. only thing is that i am back to my normal clothes but gaining weight now as he spoils me with good food and comfort food, never eaten this much junk food in ages! so back on a diet now.

anyone else considering another baby already??

4andnotout · 20/10/2008 17:18

Congratulations RHian, still 6 days to go here and no ctusigns of anything happening, must say im actually dreading labour this time, so not wishing it any sooner

emkay · 20/10/2008 20:04

IT'S A BOY! Thank you so much for your labour vibes... they seemed to work!

Started thinking that I wasn't imagining labour contractions at about 9pm last night but didn't fully believe it was happening until about 10pm. Arrived at the birth centre just before 1am to find myself 9cm dilated on first examination and little junior was born at 230am. A whopping 9lbs8oz... but no tears because the midwife was a star and totally controlled that part of the birth. We're ecstatic, exhausted and happy to be home. Now just have to decide on a name!

Lots of good luck vibes to all you ladies in waiting!

SmudgeyDoodle · 20/10/2008 20:25

Emkay that's fab news. Big congratulations. And to you Rhian. Pepperrabbit can't believe DH didn't mentino the drama - that'll be something to write in DS book! Jenwa not sure whether I hope things are happening for you. I've been having slight cramps every now and then and diaorrihea for last 2 days and really hope that things are happening as I've had enough. I've not been nesting though but maybe that's because I'm a lazy arse! Really finding it hard to get motivation to look after DS but luckily Grandma is coming up tomorrow for a couple of days so that will help.Good luck for tomorrow Hansnava. Guess there cna't be that many of us left now
Bethoo really pleased that things are working out with new man. Make the most of him looking after you. Hope DS and DD bums soon better! Nice names Heather - that's one on our list too (we only have a list of 2 if it's a boy )

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/10/2008 20:39

Congratulations emkay .

Good luck for tomorrow hansnava.
