Can't keep up with this thread! Congratulations to all the new arrivals! My waters went on Wednesday night but no sign of anything happening-- pretty much the same routine as with dd1 and ended up being induced with her after about 5 days. Been in the hospital each day for fetal monitoring and general checking over and everything seems to be ok.

Rhian interestingly when I was in hospital this morning I asked the mw if I should be doing anything in particular to bring on labour and she said, the usual suggestions are hot curry, vigorous walks, sex... and I said, hang on, on this advice sheet you gave me when I first came in it says to abstain from sex if your waters have gone. And she said, oh well, we won't know if you do...

Wow alot of babies again. want my turn now!!!!

Thought things may have been happening this am as had some cramping andafter washing DD's bath toys leaning over bath felt some really heavy pains but seemed to have worn off. Will have to speak to DH tonight about helping out

hansnava · 17/10/2008 17:35

hi ladies
just 4 more days for me then i will be joining the rest of u yummy mummies. i cant wait now.

i do have a question for the new mummies on here. during my pregnancy i have had leaking nipples a bit but now they seemed to have dried up so im wondering does it start straight away i mean i know the milk doesnt come through for a few days but the colestrum (or however u spell it) does that start straight away. if im having a section how will my body know to produce this milk?

it seems i cant remember ne thing from having dd 3 years ago

sambrads · 17/10/2008 19:47

congrats to all the ladies who have had there babies

brooke is doing really well taking 5oz every 4 hours health visitor was out today she is the same one i had with ds and she nearly put me daft !!

brooke has put on 17oz in a week which iknow is alot but she is really thriving and mw was so happy with her well health visitor said she had put on too much weight and was suggesting me cutting down her feds like what the flip is she talking about

she said obesity can start from such an early age !! she is only 2 weeks how can she say something like that

sorry about the rant

good luck to all the ladies who are nearly there

star6 · 17/10/2008 20:01

How awful, sambrads! Obesity at 2 weeks? Please! don't listen to her.

Flum · 17/10/2008 20:28

Spose you could make the milk slightly weaker.... Don't know really.

I have got myself laid up today. DH and I had an argument today about 'car parking' totally pointless but it knocked me for 6 as we rarely argue last one about a month ago and before that our last argument was more than 2 years ago! Anyway today was short and sharp and swiftly reconciled and I am very aware that I am emotionally quite needy at the moment but anyway. I feel RUBBISH today. At 4.30pm I knocked on his study door (he works from home) and said I need an hour off the kids (I never ask him to do any kid stuff before 6.30pm) I have a ripping pain in my side (very sore - nothing like labour pain though - possibly wierd baby position). He did take over bless him and did some cutting and sticking with them. He is very contrite and feels awful that we argued and he got so cross. I feel emotionally jaded but stabbing pains have gone so physically better. Sorry just wanted a little vent. Have been incredibly bouyant this last trimester and today is my lowest point.

Don't want baby to come until due date as my Mum is only getting back to UK day before due date and then kindly is having kids for half term holidays- so some time in middle of half term will be ideal, then she is coming to stay with us for a few weeks to help out - hoorah for Mums!

Good Evening. It's DH Pepper Rabbit here. Jessica Rose 7lb 15 1/2 oz was born at 10.45 a.m. this morning, so no induction on Monday. Mother and Baby doing well and expected home tomorrow.

WheresTheAuPair · 17/10/2008 22:39

Wow my internet's been down since I last posted so its taken ages to catch up on this thread!

congrats to Heather- what a good weight!
Popsy Belgo Rach pepperrabbit fab news!
AJM- I have been thinking of you as my LO is back to back at the moment- despite being booked in for CS I have had on and off BH and terrible back ache since Wednesday. It didn't help that on wed night my next door neighbours set their house on fire It doubly didn't help that only that day my FIl had called to say that he had forgotten to renew the buildings insurance (he owns the house!) so we were in the unusual position of watching the house next door burn thinking 'oh god we're not insured!!' The drama/stress hormones seemed to make the baby go crazy and i was up all night with BH's and terrible back ache. Ended up in the bath at 5am which helped. had bad fluid retention all over my legs, arms, face and shoulders - agony. Quite surreal to have a 5am bath massaging my skin while wearing a face pack (thought i may as well make the best of the situation!) lol.

oh and found the baby clothes! hurrah- all washed and ironed thanks to my lovely mum nursery nearly ready now...DH finally off work so i can put him to action

ronshar · 17/10/2008 23:23

Yipee to all you ladies with the new babies.
AJM, finally. I bet you are really happy Amelia has arrived

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/10/2008 08:28

Oh, Jessica Rabbit . Congratulations to pepper and well done on avoiding the induction.

Congratulations pepper!

nothing doing here which is very depressing.

jenwa · 18/10/2008 09:32

pepper congrats and glad you avoided the induction.

wtap What a stress with the fire and insurance etc!!! Hope you feeling ok now.

Hoping all else ok with everyone. My dd has gone to inlaws this am whilst DH gone to work so I can have some rest. Hopefully going out for lunch with DH when he is back then picking up dd this afty.

jenwa · 18/10/2008 09:34

hansnava sorry not sure about the milk! I know mine came in straight away but neve had section. Think maybe putting baby to breast straight away when born will stimulate things. Best to do in first hour.

caramelbunny · 18/10/2008 10:48

Hi everyone.

Megan Ruby 5 lb 12 oz born by emergency section under general anaesthetic on Mon 13 Oct. Pretty scary and dramatic, will post story.

hansnava your body knows to make milk when placenta detatches so don't worry.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/10/2008 11:09

Congrats caramelbunny.

Hansnava - your body is already making colostrum, regardless of whether or not you are leaking. Removal of the placenta stimulates further production, but skin to skin straight after the birth (I would aim for within the first 20 mins) will help it along, as well as being good for the baby to feed that early.

Congrats to all new mums. Hi Caramelbunny - hope you're recovering well. Megan Leah (11th Oct) says hello to Megan Ruby!

What a sudden rush of babies!!! Hope you're all settling in well

SmudgeyDoodle · 18/10/2008 17:37

Congratulations to Pepperrabbit and Caramelbunny. Glad you avoided induction pepper and hope you ok caramelbunny (re scariness and drama)Any news Yummum?
Flum - rant away. Glad you got DH to help out. I need to just ask more because if I don't ask DH doesn't seem to think to offer. He's taken DS swimming this morning and out for a walk now so I've had quite a relaxing day. Saying that, DH is feeling sick so I hope he isn't coming down with a bug or anything. Emkay hasn't been around for a while. I wonder if things are happening/have happened there?
Glad all babies seem to be doing well. Keep coming back to us or those of us at the end of the month will start to get lonely
