nab - the report is from which (the comsumers guide). Which car seat have you got at the mo?

Mrs W, not so much rows, but interesting debates about whether Mn should have live a chat room.

uwila · 09/03/2005 15:12

Yes, it does mean dual citizenship. I think I can get it too. Then if we move to the states for a few years DH should be able to apply for US citizenship so we could all have dual.

However, I don't think the states is a fab retirement place unless you are wealthy. There are very few state funded perks (like healthcare, housing, etc.) Although the cost of living is cheaper.

PinkArjuna · 09/03/2005 15:21

Afternoon - I am out the door but cane to check my ebay auctions. Hope everyone is alright.

Charley - Yeah he's a ball boy in training got to start early besides I have great hopes he'll love tennis and hate football...

Lua · 09/03/2005 15:28

Uwila, I know for sure US won't give up getting taxes from you just because you have a red passport...go for it!

That is certainly something I don't miss from US -paying taxes... But that is becuase I still have to do it, even though I don't get a penny from Uncle Sam !!!

Tea, I have been cutting down the sweets until the diabetes exams came back... But hey, I will attack my mother days' chocolate box tonight. If you can, I can!!!

teabelly · 09/03/2005 15:28

Uwila I don't think your US citizenship should be affected, my mum has hungarian/british/australian - some people are just plain greedy

teabelly · 09/03/2005 15:30

Lua, ha ha ha it's not the threat of diabetes that's making me want to cut back (I'll cross that bridge later) it's the sight of my lardy arse in the mirror!!

Lua · 09/03/2005 15:32

Oh well, tea... I'll just have to breastfeed him until he is 22!

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 15:34

Hi all.
Not ignoring you. Had a friend round for coffee which was very nice. Sorry to disappear after asking questions! I love visiting the US and was intrigued as to what you miss. Glad your brother is home safe and well and sorry about your Dad. Things like that make you feel a long way from home don't they? I am going to look at the Which report in a mo too. Thanks for finding that. I am doing the worst mothering thing to date at the mo. I have given dd her tea and put her in front of the TV so I can chat on here! I thought this site should improve my parenting not become a habit......
Red is a fab colour for the buggy. Clashing will look great! I want the red Maclaren but there is no way dh will understand. He already thinks I am a pushchair addict.
Did anyone else stake a claim for Lua's sling??
If still no by tomorrow is it OK to CAT you Lua?

MrsWednesday · 09/03/2005 15:34

Teabelly - best solution would be not to look in future .

Well I've ordered some black trousers from funmum.com as I couldn't find anything I liked on the Topshop and Next sites. I did like that they put in the description of the trousers that they are suitable for wear after pregnancy too (arrrrrrgh, keep thinking about the horrible post-birth jelly belly ). Full analysis of trousers will be given once they arrive.

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 15:36

Lua, are you from the states too?
Do either of you know Hilton Head Island?

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 15:42

Welshmum - Congrats on making the homepage with your top tip!!!

KVG - You lucky thing. Your DH sounds lovely. That jelly belly thing came as quite a shock to me. Really was wobbly and weird. Biggest shock though was how hot and sweaty I was. No-one warned me that the body has a lot of fluid to get rid of and it does it anyway it can!! I felt horrid. Didn't help that the hospital was so damn hot. The physio had a top tip to bring in your own pillow as it is cooler as not plastic covered.

teabelly · 09/03/2005 16:10

LOL Mrs W - I'll try not to look

Coop - good tip - also did anyone else on number 2,3, etc feel like it took ages for their body to feel like 'theirs' again?? Not really explaining myself very well, I loved being pg, and didn't feel at all like I had a little alien in there, but afterwards I felt like my body wasn't quite right/my own for a good 4-6 months...probably just confusing everyone now...

Oooh. You have plastic under the sheets too!!! My body didn't feel like my own properly until I stopped b/f at 12 months. Esp my boobs. Poor DH wasn't allowed to touch them when we were .....you know.... as I was fed up with feeling they weren't mine. I was fine the whole way through the pregnancy, felt quite sexy last time, but after I just wanted to be left alone sometimes to have my body back for me not for dd or dh. So yes it does make sense Tea, but also it is not as bad as it sounds and tell DH's not to panic. I have made it sound quite extreme there but at the time everything was worth it all.

MrsWednesday · 09/03/2005 16:36

Ooooh yes Teabelly, it took me months to feel like myself again, you're right. I'd forgotten about that (sorry KVG!). Mentally it took me even longer.

Your DH sounds like a real sweetie KVG. I sometimes wonder whether my DH even notices my belly these days. Must be used to seeing me look fat.

JonahB · 09/03/2005 16:37

Hi All,

Glad to see you're all still chatting away merrily. Dont you people EVER do any work ?

I've just been to see my friend with a 2 weeek old baby. He was under 8lbs when born, but he looked HUGE. All I could think about was something that size has to come out of me . Getting scared.....

please don't talk too much tonight and tomorrow!!

teabelly · 09/03/2005 16:55

LOL, Jonah - yep I felt like that last time...I just prayed he'd have a small pea head so it wouldn't hurt too much!

And no I try never to let work interfere with MN time, he he he!

Off home soon, yippee!!!!! Got monday off too, so nice long weekend coming up. DH and I are going to be wicked wicked parents and drop DS at nursery on monday then slope off to our favorite gastro pub for a long leisurely lunch . Hope to catch up sometime in the next few days...but judging by the length of recent daily chats all I may be able to do is catch up with the general conversations without having any time to contribute!!! Take care, see you later, x.

MrsWednesday · 09/03/2005 17:01

Work, what's that then? Keeping up with this thread is a full time job.

JonahB, no words of comfort really...it doesn't seem possible but they really do manage to come out eventually! One thing my midwife did when DS's head was crowning was pour cold water over my bits and it really did take the pain away. Honestly.

Bye Katz and Teabelly (have a lovely long weekend).

MrsWednesday · 09/03/2005 17:17

Keep meaning to say this but getting sidetracked. Scraggyaggy, hope you are feeling better soon, you've been away from us for ages.
