All right, a brand new and fresh thread...

OP posts:

Doh - just posted this on the stats thread...

Nab - here 's a link to our stats thread (if you go to Topics - ante natal clubs - Due in June - Stats thread..) you'll find it there.

I hope the scan goes weil on Thursday - it must be a worry for you x

nab · 21/02/2005 15:09

Baby has a cyst on the brain and renal pelvic dilatation. Have refused all screening tests so far and got a stroppy reply. Is it our baby, or theirs?! Having another scan but really it is irrelevant. We are having this baby rgardless but if it is anything serious it would be sensible to prepare as we have 2 other children to think of.

nab · 21/02/2005 15:09

It's snowing!!!!

MrsWednesday · 21/02/2005 15:11

Hello and welcome Nabs, and expectantmum too (hope you are feeling better).

Good luck with your scan on Thursday Nabs, hope everything is straightforward for you, must be a worrying time.

I feel left out now - the only mice we have in our house are the chewed up bits one of the cats brings in every now and again.

Any news from Franniban about her work situation?

DS told me yesterday that I've got a monkey in my tummy (the baby is apparently behind one of the cushions on the settee). Or it could be a lion, he isn't quite sure. Poor boy is going to be sorely disappointed in June.

charleypops · 21/02/2005 15:13

Aw!

charleypops · 21/02/2005 15:18

Good for you Nab! What a shame you got a stroppy response though. There's no need for that. Are you up North then? I think the Northerners from this thread are having a meet up this weekend in Sheffield.

LOL MrsW! At least a baby looks a tiny bit like a monkey - Tea's db wants a blue dinoasaur!

charleypops · 21/02/2005 15:19

Please make me start the tiling!

teabelly · 21/02/2005 15:19

Nab lol at your stats entry...'not for a while' he he he!

So what would these prognoses (sp?) mean for bubba?? Do you have any names for him/her?? It was snowing here for all of about 2 mins but seems to have stopped ...never mind it may start again

Oh yes had almost forgotton about poor Franniban - hope all went ok...

Charley no amount of cutesy pics will stop me putting down my poison tonight [rubs hands and cackles!]

Lua · 21/02/2005 15:19

Nab and expectantmum welcome to the thread!

Nab - I am very sorry to hear about the possible complications with the baby. Did the doctors told you anything about possible causes for the observed problems?
BTW I do understand your position about the test and all. Hope the doctor are more supportive of your choices. Wishing you all the best!

Where is Uwila? She's not one to loose her first post of the day position easily....

Charley {chocolate} it's time {chocolate} that you went {chocolate} and started the {chocolate} tiling...don't know what you mean about us making you think of chocky all the time

Lua · 21/02/2005 15:25

Teabelly {grin] {grin]
We all read this thread... not fair! Now. I (which was actually getting some work done...) will have to get chocolate!

OP posts:
MrsWednesday · 21/02/2005 15:27

Grrrrrrrr. Now I want chocolate too....

charleypops · 21/02/2005 15:27

You are the Evilest person on this thread Tea!

nab · 21/02/2005 15:29

Charleypops, I am originally from up North but are now living in Kent. Don't ask me how.

teabelly · 21/02/2005 15:31

I was only able to type that as I had a giant kitkat in my fat fisties at the time!

nab · 21/02/2005 15:31

teabelly, baby could be absolutely fine with all resolved in 2-3 weeks but we aren't really sure what it means otherwise. Could be linked to Edward's syndrome. Don't think it is to Down's. We don't mind, just want to know. Baby names all sorted, but not telling...

Lua, sonographer didn't tell us anything about how or why, just that we would need another scan and he wouldn't know what to do if it was his wife.

Everything could be so fine in a few weeks but nagging at me is that my 2nd child has had problems (nothing mental, and she will be okay) and we lost a baby last year, (don't know why) but we are hanging in there.

teabelly · 21/02/2005 15:34

Nab one of my nieces has Down's and I agree it doesn't sound related to that. Defo agree is best to know then you can arm yourself with any necessary info for when little one arrives. Still keeping fingers crossed that all will be ok tho

nab · 21/02/2005 15:38

Thanks teabelly. A friend has had a baby recently who is gorgeous and just so happens to have Down's but we don't see them now.(Not because of that. We were only aquaintences really) I would never abort, but are a little scared as don't know what to expect. Some people I know are oh so casual about if baby not perfect then.... that we feel we have to justify why we would have the baby. It is our child and no one else has to worry. I can just hear my Nan now...

teabelly · 21/02/2005 15:48

Nab at the end of the day like you say it's your child and you shouldn't feel guilty about whatever decision you make...we all make the right decision for ourselves and our own particular family situation. I agree that most assume that if you test then you will 'act' on any 'negative' results, but some just want to know to be prepared...you stick by your guns girl, it's your baby and your decision...and we're all here to listen and send you loads of cyber chocky support

So is it still snowing in Kent?? One of the girls in my office hails from there and is hopeful this may mean a day off tomorrow, he he he!

nab · 21/02/2005 15:52

Thanks so much for that. It is really kind. As I am such a worrier my friends round here will just say don't worry but how would they feel? I am a worrier by nature and that is just the way it is.
It has stopped snowing so once baby number 1 and baby number 2 are up we will pop off to Asda.

Will be back later. Thanks to all for being so kind and caring.
N x
