i feel like tea, toast, cherios and crunchy nut corn flakes now. DH home now and making me a nice stir fry with rice noodles. Yet again i am wanting a fried egg on top over easy, i am loving runny eggs this pregnancy, i couldn't stand them last pregnancy.

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 20:29

veggie I love runny eggs as well!

I've had a yummy lentil curry with a huge naan bread! I've had to make it really mild though as junior doesn't seem to like spicy curries!

Cheerios.... I hope that's not a Nestle product.

Can't bear cereal myself, always have toast. When DH is out and I can't e bothered with cooking, I just have toast and a cup of tea. I used to have toast and a glass of wine, but not at the moment.

Waiting girl - had a Tens on for about 1/2 hour in first (and indeed only)labour and hated it! I think it was because I didn't practise enough with it beforehand. I worked out how to make it work, but didn't get used to the sensation. If I had, maybe it would have been great. Friends of mine swear by it.

Great news here - St Thomas's have said I can come back. Have my booking appt next Wed (I think). Will be slightly odd having booking appointment looking like a hippo when others who are booking are about 10 weeks, but there it is. Beans, when are you due? Pixsix, I think you are a Tommy's girl too. Maybe we will all be there together. I will be having an el CS so I guess I'll be around the beg of December. Can't believe I am 26w tomorrow. Where has the time gone.

Reban - my DD1 kicked the monitor off her so many times in labour she had to have one stuck to her head as they couldn't get a reading! DD2 frequently kicked the doppler as well during MW appointments. This pg, I have only had anyone listen in once, but perhaps in my shiny new hospital things will be better.

Work are pissing me around. Again. Not happy.

What's going on with work, chutney?

Any tips from anyone re Braxton Hicks? These are getting to be a nuisance. I am trying to drink lots of fluids as I know from last time they get worse if you get dehydrated but I'm really uncomfortable.

I think the baby may also be having a growth spurt, but this constant tightening in my bump is making me breathless!

All tips welcome!

(btw can I ask a silly question? What happened to poisondwarf? Did she change her name while I was on holiday?)

Veggiemummy · 02/09/2008 20:55

oh yeah i think they are Nestle, thats me out on the cherios then. oh well i'll double up on crunchy nut then.

oh this stir fry is so yummy.

Veggiemummy · 02/09/2008 21:05

Rosemerta when i was pregnant with DS he never liked spicey food either i had to eat everything really bland which is difficult in our household. But veggiebaby seems to want it hot hot hot, which is nice and doesn't seem to make my heartburn any worse than in last pregnancy.

pixsix · 03/09/2008 07:54

chutney glad you got back in to St Thomas', would be so funny if we were all there together!

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 08:03

chutneymary glad you're back at St Thomas's

My Cheerios are Tesco's own, is that ok?!

veggie it only seems to be curry that bothers him, fajitas & chilli are fine! Must be something in there that irritates

Hi Verso - I was having quite a lot of Braxton Hicks for a while, but they seem to have calmed down a bit, just in the mornings sometimes. I didn't get breathless, just rather uncomfortable at times. Perhaps ring your midwife to see if there's anything else you can do?

I've just had a chocolate croissant, which was delicious, but I don't really count it as breakfast, so off for some sultana bran now. Delicious. I'm so keen on cereal at the moment, particularly as I know the milk is doing me all sorts of good.

Beans33 · 03/09/2008 09:21

Chutney - I'm due on 7th December, but I've got a feeling this little beastie is going to be late. Runs in the family, so think I won't have mine til nearer Christmas. I hope not, though. For the sake of the bambino! Rubbish timing for presents!

Purple79 · 03/09/2008 10:30

Hi, sorry Im so rubbish with keeping up with you lot - slapped wrist!

Im definately with you veggie bubs is loving spicy food and fry up's - which i don't mind one bit, but I do try and level it out with fruit at some point. Hope u feel a bit better today btw.
Having restless nights at mo, tend to wake about 3 or 4 then awake for a couple of hours, quite fustrating as my alarm goes off at 6.30am feels like im always knackered - baby has a little kickabout when i wake up so i quite like that!

beans/chutney Im at Tommy's aswell, due 17th Dec. They have their tours on a tues and thurs at 6pm, I've yet to go but will probably will go soon when I can be arsed

Still haven't bought anything, not even any maternity clothes but in dire need of trousers i'll definately have to get some this weekend.

Hope everyone is well or if not feeling better... x

Veggiemummy · 03/09/2008 10:57

oh Rosmerta you poor thing you must feel shattered you def need dark chocolate and coffee.

Veggiemummy · 03/09/2008 11:10

OMG i'm just reading Mondays metro (DH collects them for me and brings them home thats why i'm reading it now) and on the front page there is an article on the 'possible' dangers of wearing perfumes and perfumed body creams in pregnancy. Apparently they did a study with rats and the perfumes interrupted the hormones release to developing baby rats so the male ones reproductive organs didnt form properly. They did say right at the end of the article that they didnt want to alarm women and that further studies needed to be done but it was on the front page and they said it would only be a problem in the 8-12th week. so what were they expecting women to think, if not to be alarmed. Well if they didnt want alarm women they shouldnt have said anything it is ridiculous, considering that most women wear perfume (i don't but only because i'm allergic to it otherwise i would love to) but reproductive problems that they described are quite low in men it seems stupid to do the study in the first place.

Beans33 · 03/09/2008 11:17

Bloody hell, Veggie - that really irritates me too - why do they print these things? Of course it's to scare people - GRRR. That's really got my hackles up . As if preggy women don't have enough to worry about already, without them printing some scare-tactic story that hasn't even been proved!

Went to yoga last night and I really didn't enjoy it. Very strange. I just cannot get into the Ohmming and the slightly cheesiness of it - at the end she always says "thank you mummies and thank you babies" and I want to vomit. Think I'm too cynical.

Plus when we do the relaxation thing at the end, I've discovered that I can't lie on my back. Sob. Has to be my side - I'm on 26 weeks!

Does anyone else find that people think pregnancy is free licence to comment on how big you are? I usually try to let it wash over me, but this constant barrage of people telling me I'm huge or that the child is going to be enormous etc, is so depressing. I've started telling people that they shouldn't say things like that because I find them really hurtful and they all look so surprised! I mean, JESUS! There is no "norm" as far as pregnancy goes and there were people at yoga yesterday at same stage (I had a good look around) some of whom were smaller and some about the same and some a bit bigger. Honestly, starting to get a bit low about it all. It's a baby! I mean, I'm hardly going to be flat-stomached! Sorry. RANT RANT! But I honestly feel like I'm about to flip out about it. It's really upsetting.

Beans33 · 03/09/2008 11:19

PS In one day, I had 5 comments on how big I am and 3 on how neat and small I am! So it's clearly subjective anyway!

Veggiemummy · 03/09/2008 11:24

Beans i've had people say it to me who are themselves a little overweight and it takes all my self control to not to say 'well at least i have an excuse'.

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 11:25

beans ikwym, one thing I hate about pregnancy is how it seems to make you fodder for anyone's comments or wandering hands

veggie not heard that one! There was a report on the BBC yesterday about how confused pregnant women are about what they can & can't do/eat etc. Not really surprising when the press just print whatever research comes to hand when its only in the early stages!

Must admit the tv is my friend today . Ds watching Peppa Pig & drawing

reban · 03/09/2008 11:35

Beans i remember a friends mother telling me how massive i was in my first pregnancy, i think i was about 5 months and actually i did have quite a neat little bump, and i actually burst out crying on the spot! Very embarressing but i do think people are really insensitive to things like that when you are pregnant .. you wouldnt say anything like that to an overweight or underweight woman would you and being pregnant actually gives you a reason for a belly ..GRRRR on your behalf

Verso and Beans re braxton hicks .. ive just phoned my midwife about them because mine are getting quie troublesome and she alarmed me a little by saying that i shouldnt get them till about 28 - 30 weeks and that they shouldnt hurt. Well i had them from 30 weeks with dc2 (not at all with dc1 or dc3) and they bloody well did hurt! I dont get the tightening i acutually get the waves of pain. Anyway she told me if they persist ive got to go to hospital for examination .. so sick of hospitals will only go if it gets too bad

Purple79 · 03/09/2008 11:46

As if we haven't got enough to worry about with silly unproperly researched articles coming out about what we can and can't use - it grates me GRRR

beans/rosmerta how horrible, why do people think they have a right to comment and not think its going to affect you! Seriously hating people thinking they can just waltz up to you and place their hands all over your bump - have told people to actually ask first, they look slightly miffed, but i think its just plain manners!

Beans33 · 03/09/2008 11:46

Oh no, reban - that sounds a bit scary. Mine are just the tightening of the tummy - no pain accompanying them. I will ask my doctor about them tomorrow as well as other stuff (including swollen feet, ankles and fingers) and my embarrassing chat from earlier in the week.

People are insensitive aren't they? It really hurts and actually they don't have any right to comment. I wouldn't tell friends they look fat. In the same way, if they tell you you're tiny, that's just as worrying because you think the baby might be underweight!!

Veggiemummy · 03/09/2008 12:52

and unfortunately Beans these comments are just the beginning when your wonderful little package comes out there will be all sorts of comments on it's size weight etc. My DS was on the small side and was always getting comments (he is now massive. My SIL told me it was because i breastfed him, i just smiled nicely and said 'oh no i think size comes from the father' (her brother therefore her family).

chutneymary · 03/09/2008 13:01

I think the perfume thing is badly researched. Yet one more thing supposedly for us to worry about. As if pregnant women did not have enough to miss out on or feel guilty about. Moreover, we are still people when pg and not just baby carrying vessels. I feel much better when I waft Jo Malone at people and douse myself liberally in it after the first trimester when ANY smell makes me hurl. I think the risk of perfume wearing causing harm (based on what has been proven so far) is negligible, so I'm going to carry on, without even worrying about what I have done to date. It's not like Class As or fags which are proven to cause trouble. Grrr!

Touching bumps - touch them back! I did this to a woman at work and she looked startled! I then said that I didn't really like people touching my bump (esp people who I don't really know) so that got the message over. I feel it;s like someone touching my fat roll in non pg. Out of order.

Comments on size - I think these tend to be well meant but always upset me. They will never stop. My DD1 is 3 now and I get "isn't she huge?", "what do you feed her on?" etc. Dh is 6' 3" and I am 5' 8". She was hardly going to be a tiddler. Just remember we will be back to normal shortly with a lovely baby each (or 2 for GBB) to show for it. Most of them will just have a few empty crisp packets and chocolate boxes to show for theirs.

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 13:21

lol chutneymary, I touched a woman back in the supermarket when I was pregnant with ds, like you say it gets the message across! I've found I've not had so much bump touching this time around, probably because I've got a pushchair to shield me!
