DH is home.

The crumble has gone.

TinkerBellesMum · 31/08/2008 00:05

Hi all I?m just back from London and not happy with you all! You?ve been talking far too much while I?ve been away and now I have too many threads to catch up on!

I had another cervical length scan yesterday and they said my cervix is actually longer than it was last time! I?ve got another one this week and if last time is anything to go by, another one next week too and Tink is off from the CM for two weeks as she?s on Jury Duty (CM not Tink!) so I?m going to have to take her with me

KT1983 it?s not too early at all, I think the first one is harder to feel because the feeling is very close to other things that go on inside and experience through the pregnancy helps you to discern it better next time. Also the muscles are stronger first time around so that masks some of the movement. I can feel the feet dragging up and down my tummy. Sometimes with Tink, if I was lying on the spare bed at Mum?s (which used to have a mirror opposite) I could see her outline. I could always hold her head because she was breech and it was wedged in between my ribs.

nadssss I can feel it just above my pubic bone and with my hand to around midway between the pubic bone and my belly button. When I feel it with my hand I can feel the corresponding movements inside, it?s also harder around where the baby is than elsewhere. Folic acid only needs to be taken for the first 12 weeks and other vits are optional. I don?t bother because they always say not to be taken with Aspirin.

PinkTulips baby is prodding at anything that presses on my tummy, including the seatbelt, Tink when she?s having a cuddle and of course Mummy having a good prod!

Watching you all talking about weight, I?m remaining quiet about mine! I look a lot slimmer than I actually am; I think my boobs must carry an awful lot of weight! My back has prevented me from being active since Tink was born so I?ve put some weight on.

MarkStretch if it?s anything like here they will tell you how to behave properly and won?t do any actual physio on you. Apparently they?ve found that whilst they can stop the pain it lasts a couple of days and then comes back worse than ever - not helped by mothers who think ?it?s gone now I can go back to my normal life?! Not that I mind because she?s been really good and said I?m not to have physio after the baby is born until I?ve seen a specialist.

Cocodrillo I?ve had PGP (I don?t normally get SPD and they?re moving towards the umbrella term PGP anyway) for three years since I had an accident when pregnant with Lily-Hope. I?m totally fed up of it now. I tried using a crutch today and it really helped. My physio said she will put me on crutches when it gets worse, but I don?t know how bad it has to be for her to do that. I had pain in my dimples before I knew I was pregnant.

Blimey you lot have been chatty - havent' quite read everything.....

MS like the buggy...I'm thinking of a P & T's too though like WMMC and am thinking of a "cheap" e-bay purchase.I have a M&P pramette in the loft which I could use if I just have one child for the day (plus lightweight Maclarens) - it's such a dilemma...

I'm with you all on the sporty husbands. DH used to play footie every Saturday but it was quite a long way away. Now he plays golf pretty much every weekend but seems to be gone for the same amount of time - he "needs" that time alone apparently. Me, oh no, don't need any time alone. I love spending 24/7 being supermum, chief cook and bottlewasher and have a part time job

Hi everyone else !! Hope you all enjoyed the lovely weather yesterday - I see FOG !! outside my window today....

Is the Lemon Puddle Pudding like the Lemon Surprise pudding (an old Delia recipe ?! ) haven't made that for ages but Love it with lots of cream on top too - mixed in with the hot lemony custard...must make that soon.

winemakesmummyclever · 31/08/2008 09:35

Yaaawwwnnnn!!! Only managed four hours sleep last night. Ds decided that he wanted to come in with me at half one, then spent the rest of the night kicking me in his sleep and nicking my duvet. So, pretty much like having dh home really!

TBM - Really thought that Tink was trotting off for jury duty for a split second there . Blame sleep deprivation! Glad the hospital are keeping a close eye on you.

TBM & MS - have got a sheet of exercises (well, they are just stretches really) that my OH physio gave me for my SIJ problem. They're not a cure, but they do help. I could scan it and email to you and anyone else who would like it. Can't send dh to your house to stick needles into your back though.

Suppose I had better go and get dressed before a bunch of hungover scousers descend on my house.

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 10:08

I am geeking out today and preparing a 4 week packed lunch rota for dd and I.

dinkystinky · 31/08/2008 10:29

Markstretch - you are a domestic goddess! Most envious. Have managed to get to grips with this cooking lark but definitely dont enjoy it. The buggy looks lovely. Am sticking with old Quinny Buzz for no 2 while little then moving to maclaren when done with that - DS will be nearly 3 when baby arrives so figure if baby in sling for a few months, will be enough time to get DS addicted to walking/scootering/buggyboarding.

Right - pissing down here, so off to Museum for the morning.

Will catch up with thread properly tomorrow.

onwardandupward · 31/08/2008 11:04

Yup, it was two eggs in the lemon puddle pudding

I have done nothing about getting equipped for this baby beyond saying "oh, yes please" to a friend who has offered some clothes.

I've still got slings from last time, and that friend is sending a Wilkinet for the early stage. I guess we'll need a car seat. Can't really think of anything else much, since we co-sleep, so no need for cot paraphernalia, and I'm planning to bf, so no need for formula bits and pieces.

The house is full of toys of various kinds, so not thinking about that sort of thing either! Poor neglected not pfb.

Guitargirl · 31/08/2008 11:39

Hi everyone, haven't posted on this thread in ages. I got a bit behind and then longer I left it the more behind I got...

I had a lie-in till 10:30 this morning which was bliss, DP has taken DD out for the morning to give me a rest as we've had a really busy week.

I was looking at double buggies yesterday. We live in London, don't have a car and go everywhere on foot or by bus so it has to be something practical for public transport, not too heavy, not too wide, wheels not too big to get stuck on the bus, etc. Have seen two I like in Mothercare which are pretty light-weight.

Silvercross

and

Mothercare

I guess we'll see anyway, I don't think we're going to buy anything until after the 20-week scan which is only 2 weeks away as they've moved my dates. The first 12 weeks seemed to drag and now time is going really fast. Doesn't help that I keep panicking about everything I have to do at work!

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 12:23

They both look good Guitargirl- how old is your dd?

My dd starts Irish Dancing lessons next week so we are off to a Gala now to watch her group in action before she joins. She is screamingly excited about it.

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 12:24

WWMC- yes I would be interested in the exercises if you manage to scan them in.

My email is [email protected].

Guitargirl · 31/08/2008 12:47

DD will be 2 and a couple of weeks when this baby is due. I don't think we will get away with a buggy board and I don't want to rely on just a sling as I will probably have a planned section this time and may be a bit sore for a sling straight away.

MS - hope you enjoy the dancing, sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

PinkTulips · 31/08/2008 13:01

why is it the one day i pray for it to rain it beams down sun?

no getting out of turf duty now, my parents need help down the bog to get their turf home and have promised us a fair few bags so can't come up with any excuses, grr. haven't heard frommy mom yet though so maybe it's raining at theirs [wishful thinking]

welcome homw tink, glad it was good news with the scan.... you never know, this one might stay put til 42 weeks and have you begging them to get it out

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 17:55

Ahhh the Irish Dancers were fantastic and dd came straight home, changed into a vest and pants and is now wearing a hole in my carpet upstairs practising her steps along to the 'Teach Yourself Irish Dancing' video my mum found in the charity shop.

We have just had a storm here and torrential rain.

dinkymum · 31/08/2008 19:06

Hi just saw guitar girls post and it got me thinking, what do you guys think are best? the double type of pushchair or a tandem type?
I am in teh same predicament as Guitargirl public transport all the way!
My due date is my DD's 2nd birthday and really dont fancy the sling option as an every day answer.

Thank in advance for any replies I might get!
xx

spottyshoes · 31/08/2008 19:36

I like the idea of side by side buggies so they can smack talk to each other and they look nice walking down the street but I really cannot see how practical they would be getting through single doorways - no matter how slim people say they are. Especially if you are struggling on your own. I will be going for a tandem purely as some are the same width as a normal pushchair. God I reeeeaaally dont want to start looking, pram shopping was the one thing I didn't like doing last time!

I start back at work full time tomorrow (hopefully for only 8 weeks) and am really dreading it. Am already working myself up and feeling stressed

Do you think my MW would sign me off for 8 weeks for the sake of my mental health I hate my job.

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 19:42

I would say it's worth asking Spotty! I am soooo biding my time until the 5th January. I've got 4 months to work on DH so I don't have to go back!

spottyshoes · 31/08/2008 19:52

I'm only doing it to get the maximum benefits package money wise but It sounded better in theory than actual practice [panick]. I am saving all my AL so I can leave in Jan and not start my ML until the Sunday before my EDD. And DH says I dont have to go back (well I have to do 3mths pt or pay back the extra benefits). Don't know how we will manage it though as I had to go back after DS and nothing has changed

All sounds great but January is a while away and there are these 8 looooooooong weeks standing in my way!!!

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 20:04

I get 6 months full pay, 3 months SMP and 3 months unpaid and if I decide not to come back then I don't have to pay anything back. If I do go back my first month back is part time hours for full time money.

When I had dd I had just finished college so I had SMP and nothing else. I wasn't sure what my Maternity Leave was like comparatively but it seems like I get quite a good deal.

spottyshoes · 31/08/2008 20:26

Yes that's definately good! I get about 5mths half pay (after the 90% 6weeks bit) on top of SMP which is what I would have to pay back if I didn't return. Doesn't sound much but it makes a diffence though as they use my earnings in the next 8wks as an average which will mean that the 5mths half pay is the equivolent to my part time salary now iygwim. Lotto win anyone?

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 20:31

God I'd love to. Just a million would do me. Then I would stay in my city and just buy a lovely big townhouse with a huge garden and a new bike.

MarkStretch · 31/08/2008 20:33

This one. It's on my favourite road

spottyshoes · 31/08/2008 20:46

Ooohhh that is nice! I'd have a similar style with a Swimming pool/sauna/gym/bar outhouse type building at the end of my garden. I'm not greedy

spottyshoes · 31/08/2008 20:52

"Oooo here's mine

dinkymum · 31/08/2008 20:53

I think i'll probably end up with a tandem too as i keep envisioning just manging to get one or both to sleep and then not neing able to fit a double back through my front door!

Thats a gorgeous house wow! bet you could fit a double through that front door!

spottyshoes · 31/08/2008 20:55

No no NO! I will not start looking at big houses as I will be on all night!

Going to attempt some sort of beauty (ahem) routine in prep for seeing non-baby type people tomorrow
