Well that was cutting it a bit fine...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
biglips · 22/08/2008 20:39

mummytoonefornow - well it had been mentioned that you do have increased blood flow to your clitoris and surrounding areas, which can make your bits more swollen, the plus side is that sex is very pleasurable.....ooh ill give it a try as not had it for about 6 weeks. And yes it does bloody ache my fanjo!!

notcitrus · 22/08/2008 21:21

Oops - slept most of today, so didn't get round to making my 38, 40, and 41 week midwife appts, let alone anything else.

Builder has just promised that our loft conversion will be finished before the baby - he says 3 to 3 1/2 weeks, max, honest. Midwife says baby's head not engaged yet so should have at least 2-3 weeks. We're thinking of getting him to put £1000 on it... Place your bets now, ladies!

Sorry to hear about support and financial and other hassles lots of you are having. Again I am lost in admiration for those of you looking after small children!

MelT76 · 22/08/2008 21:22

Apparently Sainsbury's are doing 1/3 off whole baby range from Wed 27th to 4th Sept. I have loads of stuff from their last offer but thought it might help someone.

eandz · 22/08/2008 21:30

hi guys!!!

the doctor switch has been confirmed. we met the new guy and he's decent. i'll be seeing him once a week to keep an eye on my bp/urine/blood sugar/stills disease and i won't have to see all those other doctors.

also, i'm not on the list for a c-section any longer and theres no reason he see's for me to have to consider it.

i feel very relieved. i didn't get a chance to go to the private mat ward because the appointment ended up being closer to where i live and not c&w.

i hope sunshine is doing ok. i really did want to drop off that card.

slinkiemalinki · 22/08/2008 23:06

Hi everyone
Can't believe how quickly this thread is moving. I don't think most of the other threads are nearly so busy (obviously everyone is sociable and garrulous but I reckon it's more because we clearly had nothing else to do over the Xmas holidays and there are so many of us!)
Also thinking of sunshine trust she is recovering well and hope they are looking after her at C&W.
Glad you have switched OBs eandz - are you going to reveal the new guy's name (totally understand if not!)
Hope all feeling well. Am off to good friend's wedding and staying at parents' over weekend - definitely taking maternity notes with me and crossing fingers and legs that nothing happens this early on!

eandz · 22/08/2008 23:09

slinkie i'll probably reveal who it is after i've met him a second time. (i don't want to jinx my luck!)

biglips · 23/08/2008 08:51

eandz - hooray about switching over to a different docs. i bet u feel more relaxed now!

im so fed up and knackered now as was up most of the night trying to stop throwing up as if i sleep on my left or right, its not nice so eventually i sat up and fell asleep which wasnt comfy. also the ligament pains was there and Also my SPD had returned too - ooh great!!!

becaroo · 23/08/2008 09:37

Good news about the doc eandz...you sound much more happy and positive!

Going to do absolutely nothing today...up til early hours with strong bh every 2 mins again [sigh]

Wonder who'll be next???????

kiskidee · 23/08/2008 10:39

I hope i wont jinx myself by letting you all know this. But I have not had any painful braxton hicks. Just tightening where my tummy feels like a basketball then nothing.

splishsplosh · 23/08/2008 10:42

Notcitrus and Pidge - good luck with the builders. i would say that dd came early and i was never aware of her head engaging - I'd had a check up a week before I think, and there was no sign of anything happening.

Our electrician (maybe the slowest in history, or maybe I was optimistic thinking re-wiring would only take a couple of weeks) is still here 4 weeks on. I tried to get a finish date out of him, but most I could get was "there shouldn't be too much left to do by next weekend". As dd was born just before 36 weeks and I'm 35 weeks tomorrow, I'm getting anxious. I've even bought some newborn nappies now, I'm starting my preparations at last!

We have to get our stuff out of storage this weekend to avoid paying any longer - have no idea where we're going to stash it all as work's still underway.

Anyone with money problems, it's horrible isn't it? I have some money aside which was to do the house up, so that's saved us from debt, but it's fast dwindling, just going on day to day stuff - partner has cut back on his work to start up his new business, so money is tight, and he puts all the responsibility on me to cut down on spending (and I only spend on the household shopping at that!) by going to the market and Lidl instead of Tesco/Sainsburys. However, he is still smoking, going out every night (until stayed in for about 3 nights this week) and wanting takeaways....we are arguing all the time, and life isn't very cheerful right now.

OK - moan over!

Glad you're happy with your new dr Eandz

kel78 · 23/08/2008 11:01

Hi all. sorry to hear about all of u with the ma being delayed. My dh too prob wont be able to have any time off this time as he is self employed, I dont work and although we were planing for him to have 2 weeks off he has been so quiet over summer hols with building work that we wont be able to turn the work down now. His new contract starts the week im due to either have c section or try for vbac. Never mind im not going to let it get me down, others manage and so will I. Just hoping c sect will be the last option with 2 other kids to sort out as well as baby.

On the upside saw MW yesterday and baby is 4/5th engaged just 1/5 left. Not sure if that is a positive thing but I am on my birthing ball every night trying to let gravity give me a helping hand. Hopefully baby will come early and dh will not have started contract. He has two weeks left so fingers crossed.

Also thinking of you sunshinemummy hope all is ok and u are enjoying ur new baby.

crabby · 23/08/2008 11:51

Its been quite some time since I have been on line... Busy few weeks.

I found out that LO was a footling breech when I went for a growth scan (bump still freakily small) on 8 August. Was told that if my waters went then I needed to go to the hospital v. quickly.

2 days later, guess what? LO was kicking my cervix (as is normal for her... ) after supper on sunday 10 august. One large kick and I felt a funny popping sensation, stood up - waters broke all over the floor and the rest was a scene from a made for TV movie. MIL had to drive us through red lights to get to hospital as the contractions started v quickly and got to 1 in 2 in 15 mins. Got in to hospital and was taken for emergency c-section before LO managed to fall out any more (feet already through rapidly dilating cervix) and was born on 11.8.08 at 00:51 at 35 weeks.

Lilah weighed 2.34kg. Taken to SCBU but doing so well we were reunited after a few hours. All well until day 5 when she stopped breathing for no reason. Taken to NICU, had every test under the sun looking for infection, seizures, cardiac problems but nothing showed up. Back to me after 3 days. Then blue again, back to SCBU for another few days of ongoing apneas.

Breast feeding getting established, all v. stressful (apart from the feeding weirldy which is lovely). In hospital for 11 days and now at home with tiny baby with feeding tube still in her nose. She does little but sleep but is v. cute!! Worried about SIDS in view of previous episodes but Docs beleive that it was just down to prematurity. I pray they are right.

Sorry for long post, but it has been quite a busy 2 weeks

eandz · 23/08/2008 12:04

yes everyone i AM happy! and it feels glorious!

what i'm annoyed with is how long pregnancy really is. it's like every day is longer than the last (but it really really is, isn't it? cuz it's the summer).

jenpet · 23/08/2008 12:17

Congratulations crabby that was scarily fast! Welcome to little Lilah too, very pretty name. Great that you are getting the breast feeding established too. How exciting! So what is that now 5 (or maybe 6 with sunshine)? down, 72 or something to go?! I'm sure someone will be along to update the list soon, I'm in the middle of making fish-pie for the freezer. I've no DH until tomorrow night and a very bored 6 year old to entertain, which is a bit trying...

eandz · 23/08/2008 12:25

KashaSarrasin · 23/08/2008 14:09

crabby Congratulations!!!! Lilah is a beautiful name . It sounds like a scary experience, especially with the apnoeas - I hope she doesn't have any more.

eandz glad you have a new doc and that he sounds nicer than the last one!

Hi everyone else , difficult to type atm as DS2 is asleep on my right arm! Hope you are all well, who is going to pop next I wonder?

meglet · 23/08/2008 14:20

kasha whatever happens Sunshine and Poxotal are having elec c-sections next week, so that's another 2 at least!!

Glad you are doing ok. I'm impressed you can MN and hold the baby at the same time.

splishsplosh · 23/08/2008 14:39

Congratulations Crabby, sounds like you've had a tough time the last couple of weeks.

I know it's hard not to worry, but dd was early, had cerebral haemorrhage, seizures, and stopped breathing a few times, she was in hospital 2.5weeks, but once discharged was fine, no problems ever since, so hope the same is true for you and Lilah

meglet · 23/08/2008 14:45

splish how are things with your DP / P / ex-P these days? Did you get a doula sorted?

My DP kicked off last week, but has since bucked his ideas up and took himself off to Relate and is getting in touch with anger management people.

hopefully · 23/08/2008 14:45

Eandz I'm really glad you've managed to swap to a doctor who you're happier with.

Kiskidee I haven't only not had any painful BHs, I haven't had any at all in any way since I was about 26 weeks. MW assures me it's nothing to worry about though.

Splishsplosh sorry to hear about your partner being annoying re the money situation - have you tried sitting down and talking about it when you're not cross with him (I find I only ever have these kinds of discussions with DP when I'm already angry, which doesn't help!) Could you give him a few sample sums, such as cutting back on 3 pints a week means you have an extra £30 a month, cutting 2 fags a day means an extra £6 a month or whatever...

Congrats Crabby! What a terrifying start, but so glad things are looking a bit more relaxed and Lilah is home.

becaroo · 23/08/2008 15:52

Congraulations Crabby!

potxola · 23/08/2008 15:53

Becaroo Sorry he can't take more time off. Let's be positive and believe your baby would be a dream one and you will cope fine. I am sure some of us will be knackered with a baby who does not sleep and even having our dh around won't help.

potxola · 23/08/2008 16:03

Hi, I have just read another page of the your posts.
CONGRATULATIONS Crabby! I am glad you have beautifu lLilah in your arms, you must have been very scared. Enjoy each other
