Imo - Thanks for the info re benefits, doesn't look like there's much available for us but never mind.

CONGRATS CRABBY!

kiskidee · 23/08/2008 17:16

Congrats Crabby. Gosh I have recently me another baby (full term) with apnea episodes. Do you have Lilah in your room? Beautiful name, by the way.

biglips · 23/08/2008 17:24

hooray!!! Crabby...well done and welcome your DD to the world

im atm carpet cleaning with my bissell in the living room and hallway...will be doing the babys bedroom as we did it ages ago but since then we moved the cotbed and found stale hard milk that my dd used to have, so just gotta clean that spot. DD had gone to the Carribean Carnival fest in Manchester with my mum and mums friend so it was the best time to do the carpet (whilst Dp is fixing in a new kitchen cupboard that was flat packed!!)..

mamamufin · 23/08/2008 17:29

Congratulations crabby . Enjoy your special time together. xx

mamamufin · 23/08/2008 19:19

Gosh guys. Have you started a new thread without me? Its been nearly two hours since the last post. Maybe your all giving birth x

meglet · 23/08/2008 19:23

potxola · 23/08/2008 19:30

I am about to eat my cooked dinner and watch the X-factor too. It has been a good day.

mamamufin · 23/08/2008 19:32

Ive eaten spicy chicken wings, yum. X fac is starting .....

jearund · 23/08/2008 19:53

becaroo your DH's work sounds crap! I think that's awful making him come in when you were going through such a rough time with DS (both times). I do realise I'm lucky - we have a very understanding employer as we are public sector - the pay isn't the best but they are very good on stuff like maternity leave and flexible working etc. DH working shifts also helps because a) it's extra money and b) he's around a lot during the day/ week anyway so he was involved with DD from the start. The downside (for me) is being left on my own at night/ evenings/ weekends a lot but you can't have everything (unless you're rich I suppose!). Let's hope this time you have a straightforward birth anyway and that you won't be seeing the inside of the NICU (is that what it's called?). Make the most of the 2 sets of parents and try to let them take DS so you can concentrate on feeding etc.

jearund · 23/08/2008 19:59

Kiskidee I've been having those strange tightenings too. Last time round my Braxton Hickses were low down, like period pains, but this time I've had very few like this but defintely times when the bump goes hard then eases off again. Those are painless. I doubt wee Dougie will beat me to the 39 week c-section though! 35+5 today!

DebitheScot · 23/08/2008 19:59

Kiskidee- my bump feels like a basketball all the time. It is permanently rock hard. It?s also the roundest bump I?ve ever seen. I haven?t really had braxton hicks, just the occasional twinge that might be one but not continuously.

Crabby- congratulations and well done for getting through a hard couple of weeks, I?m sure everything will keep getting better and better from now on.

Eandz- I know what you mean about pregnancy being so long. January seems like such a long time ago, how can we have been pg since then? But we should be grateful that we?re not sealions, I learned at Longleat Safari park last week that they are pregnant for 50 weeks of the year then 2 weeks after giving birth they get pg again!
I?m getting fed up with it too. I can really feel that the head is engaged, there is a lot of pressure down there. And the hip pain at night is getting worse each night.

We had a good day today too. Dh let me have a long lie and somehow I managed to get some extra sleep even though my hips were sore. Then DH and DS cycled to a big park near us and I drove there, we (well when I say we, I mean mostly the boys, I sat and read my book as well as doing a bit of running around) spent ages playing cricket and football and in the play park then had a picnic. The slobbed and watched Olympics while ds had his sleep and then made a yummy rhubarb strudel for dinner which ds didn?t get to eat coz he wouldn?t eat his main course- the silly boy spoiled his good day he?d had.

DebitheScot · 23/08/2008 20:03

And DH has just given me 2 of the smallest carrots in the world to eat, he picked his 1st crop from the garden earlier. Most of the ones he picked were a decent size but the 2 he just gave me were about 2cm long each!

(the rhubarb was home grown too)

jearund · 23/08/2008 20:05

splishsplosh I'd be really hacked off too if my DH was out most nights, buying lots of takeaways and then telling me to keep the shopping bill down! We did have the takeaways discussion a couple of months ago as he has a weakness for a Chinese on a nightshift. In the end he decided to sell some of his extensive DVD collection (not that we ever get the chance to watch them these days!) to fund the Chineses, which I thought was very reasonable! As for the smoking, can't you point out the risks to the baby (cot death etc) and try and get him to give up now? Although admittedly if you are already arguing a lot that's going to cause even more arguments - just wanted to let you know I didn't think you were being at all unreasonable!

jearund · 23/08/2008 20:15

Crabby only just finished catching up. Congratulations! What a tough time you've been having though. I'd have thought by 35 weeks everything should be pretty much ok - the apnoia must be terrifying. Hopefully it's just a passing phase. Glad the bf is going well though.

wotnopulling · 23/08/2008 20:24

awww. i was on the 'due in sept 07' thread this time next year and here i am wondering about birthday cakes!
Just wanted to say 'Congratulations!' to all who've delivered and 'Good Luck' to all waiting to deliver.

the next year will fly by. Won't always feel like it at 3am but before you know it...sob...you'll be reliving the birth (in a good way!).

all the best!

splishsplosh · 23/08/2008 20:38

Thanks for the advice / support Jearunde Hopefully Meglet*.
I do try and talk when things are calm, but he's good at saying the right things, then carrying on as before.
Today I was up with dd at 6.30, he was irritated when we disturbed him at 8.15 - he then did take her to playgroup for an hour or so, but went for a 3 hour drive, then had a 2 hour sleep while I took her to the shops and the park and made her lunch and dinner etc.
Really I'm just waiting for an opportunity to make him ex p, but at the moment am a bit stuck.
I have got a doula and my plan is to have her at the birth not him, though he tells me not to be so silly.

I've got an appointment for some tests and to see a cardiologist at Kings re baby's arrival - from what the cardiac nurse said to me when she rang, I'm worried they are going to turn the birth into a real medical event as she mentioned something about deciding when baby should arrive. I was fine for dd's birth, so I'm sure I can go au naturel again...

jearund · 23/08/2008 20:54

Just realised nobody has updated the list today so I'm doing it now (better late than never!).

splish I don't blame you for not wanting him at the birth, I can't think of anything more likely to make you not relaxed and cause problems. Last weekend I was feeling the same way myself. Although DP has now chilled out and weirdly got better, I think the fairies have given him a brain transplant overnight .

Why have I just eaten too much pasta?! I can't even attempt to sit on the sofa and my tummy is squashed full of baby & food.

eandz · 23/08/2008 21:33

hi everyone! thanks for the positive thoughts with regards to the new doctor. y'all make me feel soo happy!

debithescot i'm really glad you brought up the sea lion comparison. if i'm overdue i'll be able to make those noises at my husband and see if he'll help me figure something out. . i'm thinking rasberry leaf tea while bouncing on the ball and nipple tweaking.

splish my husband wouldn't give up his takeaways till i had a family intervention. his mom and dad had to talk to him about how much money was going into his eating out habits. (this was about a month ago). the worst was when he spent our entire monthly food budget on just one occasion...and he's a skinny man! i made him go to his mothers house for dinner every other night to save on the groceries for this past july.

splishsplosh · 23/08/2008 21:36

Meglet I'm glad your dp has chilled out, I hope he stays that way. P has his nicer moments, but usually short lived!

eandz · 24/08/2008 00:34

i want to have a chilli pepper eating contest the week i'm due. anyone else interested? i'm hoping if i haven't gone into labor by then it'll be time to eat all the chilli peppers in london.

anyone with me?
