Well that was cutting it a bit fine...

OP posts:

ooh digitalgirl,

it sounds like your baby is going to be gorgeous!!!

i had to marry my husband because he had burmese eyes and a big smile like tiger woods. with a british accent. the things you only get with mixed people.

digitalgirl · 20/08/2008 17:25

oh yes eandz it's all about mixing the gene pool if you want pretty babies!

imoscarsmum · 20/08/2008 17:31

mustsleep you've gone a bit quiet this afternoon - perhaps it was a show after all.....?!!!

eandz just think how hot you would be in Texas now - it would be too much to cope with. Although I guess that's not relevant really, as it's your home place. OK, I'll shut up.

God, i'd love to go for a swim but no maternity costume as haven't bought one and our pool is full of kids due to summer hols and i wouldn;t be able to relax in case one of the little blighters kicked me. There are no aqua natal classes near me either

nelly don't worry, I'm keeping my cleaning to the minimum, not too many chemicals either. And I have been pottering in the garden to get 'good' germs on me.

LOL at starlights dopey pharmacist.

Potxola your ds is gorgeous!!

Digitalgirl I love the names you've chosen, although I have a bit of an OCD thing about people whose shortened names have a different initial to their full name, coz for example people might write a cheque to Mr F Smith when actually it should be Mr A, iyswim. But maybe I'm just weird.

Thank you all for your kind words (but seriously, where WERE you all last night?!!). Thankfully I'm feeling hugely better today and actually woke up feeling hungry, a sure sign that the digestive system is ready to start functioning properly again! Dd woke up screaming at 5am (wretched teeth), dh was snoring and octopus was dancing, so it was a bit of an early one but thankfully I went back to bed when dd did at lunchtime!

Forgot to say yesterday, good to hear from you ponymum and glad the new house is working out much better!!

Although I think the mw said to me today that 45% of women's 2nd babies are born up to 2 weeks early
Anyone else heard that?

I still have only a minger of a dressing gown!!!

Not up to date with thread as usual, mother is staying and I'm so busy with her! I'm going to try to catch up later.....

notcitrus · 20/08/2008 19:17

digi - Alfredo sounds good, shortened to Freddie or Allie? There is a dish called pasta Alfredo but it's not something other small kids would use to tease him with!

starlight - I've seen some ditzy docs I wouldn't trust to notice I was 8 months pregnant! Someone on that 'funny childbirth moments' thread had a story about being on a cardiac ward for a checkup, and a bunch of medical students being asked to diagnose what was up - eventually they gave up and she growled "I'm in !£&% labour, you !£$% morons!"
Poor pharmacists - they have to be paranoid!

Just had 36-week appt - all well. Apparently I have a 'good chance' of a birth pool or at least the MLU, the hospital does do mobile epidurals (although if I try to cope without for a long time then there may be a tradeoff of pain relief versus mobility), and they confirmed MrNC can stay with me on the postnatal ward. They may even have a mattress!
Did confirm that I'm not allowed pethidine, though, which I was wanting to avoid anyway from past experience (opiates, vomiting, off my head for 4 days, finals. Not a good combination!). And recommended avoiding induction so I don't need to worry about my SPD and needing to lie on my back at all, which was also my thought. And I should spend the next 4ish weeks eating well and sleeping as much as possible, which seems to be the plan whether I wanted to or not!

23 days to due date...

EandZ - Curb your enthusiasm woman, I am not having a baby ..... yet! The nerves finally settled down about four hours after getting out of bed, very strange, but all gone now and no baby as yet!

I have been using the gym ball for the last week and a half and I definitely think it's helped move the baby downwards, she's moved position slightly as well and now has her back more towards the centre/tummy button, as she was as far left as she could go last week. I'm now 3/5th palpable as well, so that's an extra 5th on last weeks appointment - I have two weeks to go til my EDD so I reckon she'll be bang on, or maybe a little late.

meglet · 20/08/2008 19:23

I'm getting a bit freaked out by currently being at the top of that list .

[wanders off in denial about having a baby so soon]

notcitrus · 20/08/2008 19:24

ipanemagirl - surely a minger of a dressing gown is exactly what you want in hospital, given what we're told about lochia and all the other gunk?

I'd love to go hang out at the Lido, but it's about 500 yards from the road so I'd have to walk to/from it. At least the local pool is adjacent to a bus stop and pretty empty - I got a maternity bikini off Freecycle which is almost elegant (tank-top thing) and I'd like to use it more. I seem to be up for one major task a day, so I'll try Friday for a swim!

carrieon - most people on this thread seem to go to bed early. I'm often around later but last night MrNC nicked my monitor to test the hard-disc recorder he's building - we suspect we may watch more telly once Squirmy is here...
glad you're feeling better.

mumiyumi · 20/08/2008 19:30

I think thats a lovely idea eandz you are thoughtful!!

I've just finished a crazy nesting/ much needed cleaning session upstairs...i'm so ashamed of myself it was terrible i don't know about the cleaning products giving the baby asthma the dust up there would have already!!!

I bet sunshine and family are cuddling and enjoying their new daughter by now

Hi girls! Been doing more lurking/reading posts on this thread then typing recently and keeping up to date with you all but you may have seen me around on other threads. Just thought I'd check in again as there is a new list to add myself too! I would like to update my due date too if anyone knows where I can find that list?
