Veggie, Erm, I put the DVD on my tummy to see if it would move. And it did. Such a strange feeling! Then was in bed later with DH and trying to make it happen again and it didn't. Bum. although could really feel it kicking properly through my skin for the first time - very excited! Made DH put his hand on it too and he said he thought he felt something, but was holding out for something a bit more dramatic!!! Made me laugh as I was giving it the waterworks and all emotional about what a wonderful moment it was. Then got terrible giggles that he wasn't really sure if it was the beastie or my wind. TBH, it was a fair enough comment. Don't know about anyone else, but I've been a little windy recently!

I'm sleeping so well at the moment, don't know what's going on, but loving it! Plus, I always seem to roll onto my back. Can't seem to stay on my side for very long. I hope it doesn't matter too much. Also, was on my side this morning and DH raised his knee and gave me a swift knee in the bum. We're buying a bigger bed next weekend!

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 09:38

you don't have to worry too much about lying on your back (or not) until the 3rd trimester, the little beastie is not heavy enough to be a problem to your Vena Cava (big long blood vessel very important not to squash) until then. Also a short time on your back is not a problem i had to spend an hour in the dentists chair a couple of times during the last 3 months and 2 hour long sessions at the acupuncturists and it was fine. I think you should just be aware of it at the end and try to sleep on your side if you can. If not just put a pillow under one side.

I also have really bad wind and this baby is really low and is putting loads of pressure on my lower bowel i'm sure, not very comfortable.

right it's time for Erin.

Purple79 · 31/07/2008 09:48

Morning all,

Beans I'm also sleeping really well, i tend to sleep on my back, i wake to find that my boobs are killing me as i roll onto my side! A

Am i supposed to wearing a bra to bed for support?

Have worried about movement myself, last week was fine could feel baby moving more frequent, this week not so much... will be trying the dvd techique tonight when i get home from work.

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 09:56

Hi purple - my boobs seem to have stopped hurting. I wonder if they've stopped growing too - hope not - I'm not as well endowed as I want! Have always wanted bigger boobs...!

Fingers crossed DVD technique is a success! I haven't yet spoken to "the bump" as I feel like a total twit. Although I did chat to it when trying to make it kick the DVD in front of DH "Come on you little bugger", was the phrase, I think! didn't work. Think I'll have to be nice to it from now on. I almost brought myself to chat to it this morning, but couldn't quite manage it.

zoejeanne · 31/07/2008 10:07

I was also thinking about having a chat this morning, but couldn't think what to say!

I might try the DVD trick too - I guess my little has moved to kick something else and not me for a couple of days, which I should make the most of!!

Ooh, good luck Turnip - very exciting! Mine's tomorrow (same as Veggie, I think). at 12.15. I'm nervous and excited. Always fretting in case there's something wrong, but yesterday's kicking session went some way to ease my fears! Fingers crossed.

Let us know how it went.

oh for those who are still bfing older children, have finally stopped feeding DS. A bit sad but it was soooo painful and he wasn't feeding for long anyway (maybe 1 mon max on one side once a day). I just said 'all gone' when he asked for milk one night and he hasn't asked since.

This may explain why I'm feeling a bit grotty and sicky (as well as the heat and no sleep since 4am) as my hormones must be up the spout.

GettingBiggerBird · 31/07/2008 10:40

I slept fitfully but still for about 9 hours, and am still exhausted. Also seem to be very worried today - is that normal coming up to my scan (next Tues)? I've persuaded myself I can only feel one twin moving. Also have a second weekend in a row of camping coming up, with a very snory DH. God, listen to me, what a moaner. Beans can I have some of your happy hormones please?

Hope all goes well with your scan today turnip also for those of you who have yours tomorrow! Im so envious, mines not until the 13th.. i'll be 22 weeks by then and really looking forward to it, my DP is definately going to be there and his 8yr old DD is coming along aswell.. shes very excited.

GBB Congrats on having twins - who cares if you want to let off some steam its what were here for girlie.
You've probably got some already but Get some earplugs to block out snory DH.

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 11:15

Oh GBB, I'm sorry - what a pain not to be sleeping well and also worrying. Sure all will be ok with the twins - fingers crossed. Do you have a scan coming up?

You are welcome to have some of my happy hormones, am sending them to you by telepathy. hope they reach you.

if it's any consolation, I was feeling absolutely desperate until a couple of weeks ago and was weeping a lot. Seem to have turned a corner, so fingers crossed it carries on. Thinking of you.

x

GettingBiggerBird · 31/07/2008 11:20

Aah, that's better, thanks
Scan is on Tuesday, so not long to wait.
The ear plugs I have are industrial and still not enough. DH is now being made to wear plasters across his nose which changes the pitch slightly - less mattress reverberation . At least when we go camping everyone around us backs me up in telling him how bad it is.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 11:22

effie i was really sad when DS stopped feeding at 2yrs, he was the one who decided to stop, well i just didnt offer one bedtime and he didn't ask, and i was so pleased as i had wanted to feed that long but was still a bit teary and sad when it was over, not sure if maybe a little bit of it was letting go of one more thing. Imagine what i will be like when he moves out.

Bird a friend i used to work with had twins a DS & DD, the DS would kick about like crazy and the DD only moved when the DS kicked her, when she would kick back apparently. She said it was the same now DS is really active and tears around whereas DD is more calm and not as active.

I did my Erin DVD DH is home so we did the partner workout. I thought it was just going to be DH helping me with balance and support for some of the moves but he actually had to give resistance kind of like to weights. At ne stage i was doing pushup against a wall with DH leaning his full weight on me, luckily he isn't a lard arse, but still hurt. I'm going to be in pain tomorrow.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 11:23

Bird i think DH is going to have to get a different tent.

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 11:30

At the other end of the campsite, by the sound of things!

artichokes · 31/07/2008 11:34

Morning All

Effie - I stopped feeing DD at 15 months and the hormone changes def made me feel grotty for a few days. I also cried alot but I am not sure if that was hormones or ending the attachment of BFing (if you get what I mean).

Good luck to Turnip for her scan today and to others with them tomorrow.

On the movement front I have an anterior placenta (i.e. at the front). I had this with DD too. It certainly means you feel movement later and less but it is no problem for the baby or birth.

Well I am off to the West Country for two weeks. We have just finished packing the car. We bought a people mover this week (a Vauxhall Zafira) and it is HUGE (we had a Golf before). Packing it with all the holiday stuff made me feel like such a Mum! I have even packed recipe books . DD loves it and shouts "New Car" everytime she sees it.

Speak in a fortnight.
xx

Olipop · 31/07/2008 11:34

Hiya....gosh having a totally boring day at work......never mind ...swimming at lunch and then only a few hours until home to play with DS!!!
Gosh - still got 3 weeks til my scan but I have an appointment tomorrow with the endocrine consultant as I have an underactive thyroid......nothing seems to go particularly wrong ...I just think they like excuses to extract more blood!

GettingBiggerBird · 31/07/2008 11:36

LOL .
Veggie, that's very reassuring, thanks - I have a feeling it's a boy and a girl and that the girl is quieter so that makes sense to me (probably rubbish I realise but whatever gives me peace of mind, eh?).
Effie, hope your discomfort settles and your hormones settle soon, I remember it being very strange stopping BF'ing and I only did it for 6 or 7 months.

GettingBiggerBird · 31/07/2008 11:38

Sorry, was laughing at banishing my DH, not at Olipop's blood extraction.

EffiePerine · 31/07/2008 11:42

yuck I hate blood tests. Tuesday's left mw with 2 lovely matching bruises. I have tricky veins so they can sometimes be probing for ages ugh.

EffiePerine · 31/07/2008 11:43

me not mw! I didn't bite her or anything
