mustsleep thanks for the bath towels reminder, they're not on my list. You are being good doing all those jobs. I haven't even got dressed yet today.
The scratching feeling sounds gross!

I think (like a few others also have mentioned) that this baby has dropped a bit too. I'm feeling a lot more pressure on my pelvis, really quite achy today after a couple of busy days and also have noticed the reflux isn't as bad (still there but not going through the gaviscon quite as fast) and that I can breathe better too.
Had a terrible sleep last night but it was all my own fault. We were at a bbq last night and I ate far too much and so felt uncomfy and full all night. At least I got to sleep till 10.30am this morn though.

mustsleep · 31/07/2008 12:48

deb yep it's pretty gross!

that's exactly howi feel when i have to walk anywhere get this awful pressure build up

wow you should see the rain here it's bouncing down!! has made me feel much better now seems to have broken the heat for the moment

mustsleep · 31/07/2008 13:04

ok bh's have made a return today and are slightly different i think someone else has mentioned this but can;t remember whonow they are labourish tightenings quite painful and accompanied by downward pressure not at all pleasant so may be the head has gone down?

I have no feelings that baby has dropped (no needing to pee more or anything), but pleased to report that heartburn appears to have abated a bit. Think it may have had more to do with my ridiculously indulgent weekend eating last week than the baby

Yippeeee, have finished my last bit of writing! Have an afternoon of trying to work out what I need to tell people at work for while I'm off - organisation of my maternity cover by my boss has been half hearted at best! She suddenly said yesterday that perhaps we'd better have a meeting before I go to sort things out...

caribee · 31/07/2008 13:32

Gosh, we talk alot.

this thread only started 8 days ago and we are nearly at 500 posts.

eandz your posts are so refreshing. full of a joie de vivre which jaded old me left behind so long or or perhaps never had.

Sunshinemummy · 31/07/2008 13:38

Mine has definitely dropped. Indigestion and kicking in ribs has lessened and I now need the loo every 5 mins, for a tiny bit of pee. My BHs have also changed and are now low down like a period pain - I was convinced I was going into early labour yesterday!

ipanemagirl · 31/07/2008 13:45

hello all! am not up to date with all the posts I'm afraid.
Emapthy to all who are hot and bothered!
Empathy to all who have birth fearfulness!

I've now got perfect MIL coming for 48 HOURS next week rather than 24 hours!!! I have to go clean like a maniac! And tidy and organise the spare room. she's lovely and not at all nasty about my relative poor housekeeping but I just feel it's unfair for her to be near chaos/mess/slight uncleanliness!

I wish I was a flylady type! Off to dust and fold clothes.

Have started a hospital bag 'pile', paper pants, big pants, newborn clothes. That's all I've got. Did this once before but feel like such a beginner! Respect to all you organised mums!

biglips · 31/07/2008 14:08

im sssssssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo relieved now!!

placenta had moved...must be all that walking ive been doing as no car!

im gonna have a cuppa now and chill!!

meglet · 31/07/2008 14:18

glad your placenta has moved biglips.

Everytime I log on I am sure that someone else will have had their baby, but they are all still tucked up tight!

I think my hospital bag is done, need some snacks though. And I have to pack a small bag for the baby too.

DS is being a major handful at the moment. He woke up in a lovely mood but within an hour was grumping at everything at zipping around like a lunatic. It peaked with him finding a closed rat trap and a dead slug in the garden, help! I am starting to realise that bf will probably not be possible with him being so active. He won't even watch cbeebies, let alone play with something for more than 60 seconds. I can't put him in his playpen for possibly an hour at a time so I can feed the baby, he will have huge sibling rivalry issues if I do that!

becaroo · 31/07/2008 15:48

Just got back from the midwife appointment - what a total waste of time

And hour waiting in an un-airconditioned waiting room to be in and out in about 3 mins!

I told her about the hydramnios and the bloods and the results are not back. "I cant ring them now I am too behind in clinic" (Bec thinks; I know you are, I've just sat waiting to see you for an hour!)

I had to tell her what a TORCH screen was! She didnt know!

She told me that I am measuring right for dates which really surprised me as I have been told the baby is above average size and I have got too much fluid

How can that be right?

Then she made me another apopintment in a months time when I will be 37 weeks (I had my ds at 37 weeks and she knows this!)

Aren't you supposed to see your midwife a bit more regularly than this? I am sure I remember weekly appointments last time?

She also said my stomach is very firm...yeah, I know...and then couldn't tell which way the baby was lying!

sorry, bit fed up today and she has really not helped my confidence at all

Sunshinemummy · 31/07/2008 15:54

Sorry bec that doesn't sound good. When will they chase the results for you?

becaroo · 31/07/2008 15:58

God knows!

Thats if she remembers

mustsleep · 31/07/2008 16:14

bec they can be crap can't they

you don't see them as often after your first but as you obv need monitoring closely i would have thought she may have given you a bit more attention!!

imoscarsmum · 31/07/2008 16:16

Sorry to hear that Becaroo. Having to wait a month for another appointment sounds a bit off. Even with 'normal' pregnancies I thought after 34 weeks it's every 2 weeks and weekly after 36/37 weeks.
Can you not be 'a bit concerned about how I'm feeling' next week and book an extra appointment with the clinic/surgery??Maybe ring the midwives at hospital?

eandz · 31/07/2008 16:19

thank you caribee, you sound like a positive cheerful soul too.

becaroo, your midwife is a wacko, but so is my consultant. he likes to send me to different doctors to check up on different things ALL the time. i want to ask him how slow business is this summer.

Sassafrass · 31/07/2008 16:23

Biglips, great news!

Becaroo, have you not been referred to a consultant for these problems? Imoscarsmum has a good suggestion. Try calling up the clinic and just book yourself in, or get an appointment with a gp. Surely you should see someone about the results from your tests so that you can talk things through properly. It seems very odd.

Sassafrass · 31/07/2008 16:23

Forgot to say that the measuring seems to be a highly unprecise practise. One week I measured 30, the next week I was measured by another midwife who said I was 35 cm

becaroo · 31/07/2008 16:44

Thanks guys, glad its not just me feeling all hormonal!

Might contact GP next week re: results.

kel78 · 31/07/2008 16:47

hi all

Becaroo- My MW is the same complete crap I have seen her a total of 3 times and will now see her again in a months time. I know I am under a consultant but they have told me that it is still the mw who is responsible for you.

I think I am finally packed with my labour bag and I have a few baby vests, sleepsuits, cardigans, blankets and hats in the wash ready to iron and put in the babys bag. Suddenly feel like I am getting somewhere. [smil]

My MW told me to crawl on my knees for 10 mins every day after 24 weeks to get pelvis forward and head engaged, has any one else been told this

A lady I know had her baby this morning 5 weeks early, little girl and doing well but very small, dont know any other details yet but it is starting to feel like we are all getting close now.

imoscarsmum · 31/07/2008 16:48

Measuring is crap really - I'm measuring large but that's cos i'm a bit flabby - if I hold my flabby bits out of the way (iykwim - hee hee), bump looks normal and scans all show 'average' size. I'm slowly learning to trust my instincts.

potxola · 31/07/2008 17:09

I am back from the MW appointment. ALSO a waste of time. She also wanted to see me at 38 w. HELLO!!!!!, that is the week of the C-section, SO THAT IS IT. I Don't like her one bit.I probably won't see her again, she is on holidays in Sept.

I need advice please You know I told you I was desperately looking for a nanny for the day of the C-section. The 3 agencies ignored me or sugested the wrong person to look after my ds.
Well, when I have come from the MW today,I have opened my emails and 2 of the agencies have a nanny for me. Very pricey £8.00 per hour plus £15.00 of agency fee one and the other £10.00 per hour and no fee. Remember that I need someone from 7:30 am till ? who knows what time the C-section will take place.

The other option is a place for a day at a nursery very close to the hospital for £33.00 all inclusive, snacks, food (although I am sure he will only eat his rice cakes).
He could be there from 8:00 till 6:pm.
I have only found out about this option just now and I have to let them know tomorrow.
What would you do?
My ds has never been looked after by anyone else, but he is used to go to his nursery 2.5 hrs a day. He knows about teachers and discipline in the nursery and in my opinion he will freak out if we leave him at home with someone he does not know. He is very latin,he has a temper. I feel in the nursery they have more experience in dealing with kids who get upset plus there are new toys to play with.......and the hospital is so close.
If I had not heard from the nursery I would have gone for this nanny who speaks Spanish as well, but now I think I should book the nursery.

I have asked him what she wants to do that day and he DOES NOT WANT to stay with a "woman" in the house.

kel78 · 31/07/2008 17:34

potxola- I would deff go with the nursery if you can, because your son wont have had any time to get to know this woman and at least with a nursery he will have lots of kids to play with and take his mind off you not being there.

kel78 · 31/07/2008 17:37

For those of you have c- sections how early are they doing them, I had my 2st daughter with c section at 37 weeks and my 2nd at 38.5 weeks but now the mw says that they are letting people go 39+ weeks, is this true where u are or just at my hospital.

eandz · 31/07/2008 17:43

my doctor is offering me one from anytime between 37 weeks and 40 weeks.

i'm choosing not to have one though. i just hopes he gets it through his head. he's getting really pushy about it again.
