Just wondered if it was at all possible to get hold of my notes from last pregnancy/birth. I am hoping for HB this time and I didnt have my dd at my local hospital last time.
I had to go out of my area as wanted a waterbirth.
Thought If I get my notes it may encourage mw to be more supportive for my hb.
So just wondered if I am entitled to have them.

You need to contact PALS at the hospital you used
They will send you the forms
You have to pay for the photocopying (up to £50)

You are entitled, but I think that if your midwife needs to see them she can request them through the normal channels at to cost to yourself.

You won't necessarily have to pay anything btw, it depends on how much work is involved in copying your notes, and the hospital's policy. The option for requesting payment is really there for large sets of notes, especially x-rays etc, as the costs can be very high (also generally notes are requested by solicitors, so I guess it is a way to reduce the number of potential requests from ambulance chasers).

My notes from 1st birth were requested 3 times during my 2nd pregnancy by midwife, GP and consultant. No response!!!!!!!!!!!! They never came and there was important information in them as I had complications.

Request them yourself so you can chase them (IMO!).
