Trip Congratulations on your BOY so glad to hear everything's good in there your scan sounds like mine was - my sonographer was only 90% sure and the pics aren't as good as the neuchal ones

OMG Lua! What a nightmare! Hope you've calmed down now. It's a minefield isn't it? Are you scientist? How interesting. What field? Dp and I are with BUPA but I'm not able to advise because we've never used it.

Honestly, Uwila re your dh's urine stick - it's scary isn't it?

tessie - makes you think your anti-e results might have been from someone elses blood.

Uki - I so hope your cold water pain threshold theory doesn't hold up - Dp has to grab hold of me to dunk me in the Caribbean because I find it too cold, and I can't even brush my teeth in cold water!

Gosh Welshie, fancy having your check in a store cupboard how resourceful! By the way, if I were you it wouldn't even occur to me to feel guilty about a section

Tea - that's charming of your dh going "urgh urgh" whilst peering at your nether regions I won't be letting mine go down there at all!

Yes! I think we should all put extravagances on our birth plan and see if any of us get any of them! Like getting all the staff to chant "Om" throughout the second stage and sing "happy birthday" upon arrival of the baby. Love the stunt double idea Tea If only ....

Hope dd feels better soon Lippy - well done for sorting her eyes out so quickly

Thanks Charley - you made me feel better x (must admite have done better things in store cupboards )

Uwila · 08/02/2005 15:30

Hmmm... I hate to burst your bubble, but I wouldn't be quite confident that any one is going to read my birth plan. But, that's okay. It's just going to say "Clean knife and good drugs, please."

charleypops · 08/02/2005 15:31

Welshie!

Don't feel bad, my gran told me that when she had my dad they were a bit short on rooms, so they put her on a bed in the linen closet. That's right, my dad the closet case.

teabelly · 08/02/2005 15:42

Yes Welshie and I thought I was the rude one around here!

Trib - another BOY - congrats...well done on scoring one over the mil!

Ha ha ha Charley love the happy birthday idea...may have to actually use that one!!

teabelly · 08/02/2005 15:43

Uwila...better than being a basket case maybe!!

Lua · 08/02/2005 15:44

Congratulations TRib on your boy
and even more on proving your MIL wrong!

So do we have a full soccer team yet?

p.s.: what does it mean 90% sure? Was there a willy or not?

welshmum · 08/02/2005 15:58

I'm nowhere near as rude as you TB - will work on it!

teabelly · 08/02/2005 16:06

talking of being rude all that talk of Big Ben yesterday reminded me of my ex boss...for her hen night we bought her one of those, she needless to say didn't use it, but stored it away in the understairs cupboard with her other junk. Forgetting all about it when she moved she had the removals men do all the packing and wondered what all the sniggering was when they came to that cupboard. After the move she discovered Big Ben in a box along with all the whips from her horse riding days...the removals men must have thought they had a right little go-er there!!!

tribpot · 08/02/2005 16:08

Lua - I thought I saw boys' bits flying around the screen (perhaps had just been watching too much Sex and the City though ) but when the sonographer went back to check the baby decided to be coy and had its hand in the way. By this stage she obviously wanted to get the next 'victim' in so didn't look for very long, just pronounced "it is a boy. I think. I couldn't see very clearly". Hey ho!

Uwila · 08/02/2005 16:27

oh, doesn't that make you mad. You've been waiting all this time to find out, and they just act like it isn't there job and oh well your time is up, "next...". I would have demanded a bit more persistance. But, then I'm irritating like that.

LipstickMum · 08/02/2005 16:47

Congratulations on your boy Trib!!!!

I can't believe we have another one!! Was Bubbaloo finding out??

My turn tomorrow Can't believe I'm going to find out!!!!

Uwila, you don't sound like you had a great time with your birth and birth team at all!?
My birth plan was definitely read, especialy all the post birth stuff like, skin to skin contact asap, breastfeeding straight away etc etc.

I'm nervous about the scan, finding out more than anything else!!

To take my mind off things dp and I are going out tonight for a pizza and then cinema to see 'Oceans 12'. I'm hoping Matt Damon will oblige and take his shirt off at some point

LipstickMum · 08/02/2005 16:49

Charley, no-one sang happy bday to dd when she was born, but MIL made her our special family birthday cake, scoffed by mummy and daddy

LipstickMum · 08/02/2005 16:50

God, all these boys. I can't possibly be having one too...

Anyone want to place a bet as to what I'm having..?!!

charleypops · 08/02/2005 16:53

Lua - I think she was just covering herself "just in case" - I saw a "bulge" between his legs (from underneath) myself Didn't actually see a sausage from that angle, just the veg I think!

Tea - how funny! I've still got a few in their boxes from my days as an internet entrepeneur under my stairs!! (not BBs, but very sophisticated all singing all dancing ones ). Hope I remember to hide them before we move!

OP posts:
lummox · 08/02/2005 16:58

Have got to de-lurk to have a bet. My money is on a girl.

'Fraid we can only contribute another boy.

But we are v pleased about it.

Uwila · 08/02/2005 16:59

ACtually, I have no complaints on the birth plan. I've just heard a lot of stories from people who said it was a waste of time because no one really paid much attention to it.

The midwife I had in delivery was actually quite good. No complaints of her. My gripes about medical care are generally a result of the system as a whole, and not any particular employee. I think the employees are generally victims of unreasonable expectations of the NHS (i.e. understaffed and over worked)

And now that I realise I may have sounded like a scorn patient in the past couple of days, I will also say that Epsom General (where I had DD) most certainly got it all together in a rather impressive fashion when things went wrong. I remember looking up at the consultant thinking hmmmm, she looks just old enough to drive to work. Freaked me out a bit at the time. But then one of the medical tean (whoever applies the antiseptic across the belly) put on too much and she commanded that they get it off, took control of her team and got the show on the road... I was very happy with her. In fact I wish I knew her name so I could recommend her.

charleypops · 08/02/2005 17:14

Hi Lummox!

How lovely of you to de-lurk! How long have you been lurking?

Congratulations on your BOY! What day is he due? Are you going to pop your stats on the June stats thread?

Who you betting on?

OP posts:
lummox · 08/02/2005 17:17

Was betting on LipstickMum.

Been lurking for ages. I posted at the very beginning, but then got all superstitious about it and wanted to wait for scans and stuff.

Due (variously) on 4, 6 and 9 June, but this is the first, so I guess pretty likely to be late.

Has been great reading all the posts and having been waiting for an opportunity to de-lurk to be honest.

lummox · 08/02/2005 17:18

sorry - that should be have been waiting

LipstickMum · 08/02/2005 17:20

Ah, well that's ok then Uwila. Tbh I was amazed to see the midwife actually reading mine!!

Lummox, hehe, well done for de-lurking, my God have you been there for 20 weeks??!!!

My bet is a girl too, glad the prospect of a flutter made you reveal yourself

LipstickMum · 08/02/2005 17:21

Awwwwwwwwwwwww Lummox am so glad you de-lurked!!! I always wonder why people lurk for so long (although I have done it on many a thread myself!), it's not because we sound intimidating is it ??
