hi zoe i'm pretty sure they will listen to it. i'm sure they could change it for you.

my boobs have gotten bigger this time but for my first they didnt really get much bigger during the pregnancy i was barely a B cup before i got pregnant, scraped up to a C towards the end and then went DD when my milk came in, they were huge!! we took photos of them they were so big.

Zoe, I think they give the heartbeat a quick check in every scan, so if he misses out now, he can listen when you have your anomaly scan at about 20 weeks. That would probably be a better one to go to anyway, so don't fret about changing the 16 wk one.

As to the people who are actually due in November, I am also here under slightly false pretences - DD due on Dec 3 but I know I am having a cs so I guess they will do it a week or so before. That right? Week 39?

LadyThompson · 03/07/2008 18:43

I bought maternity bras but they felt horrible and too tight, despite being size 34DD when I am usually a 34C. So I have just gone back to my usual underwired 34C ones, most of which still fit ok. I just hope I am not ruining my boobs, but that's a bit of a vain hope in pregnancy, let's face it...

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 18:51

my SIS only was quite big for all her 4 pregnancies and just wore underwire bras. she breast fed all 4 and has had no problems with her boobs since so i'm sure it is fine to use underwire if that is more comfortable. I'm too big for usual underwires and have just gone back to the bravado bras i had last time.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/07/2008 19:46

I wore underwires all the way through last time, and intend to do the same this time. I'm fairly big (G-ish) and anything else just doesn't cut it.

Changebag - I treated myself last time to an impractical green soft leather handbag, covered in, erm, rhinestones... It's still going strong and hooks over the handles of the buggy fine.

katie3677 · 03/07/2008 19:47

Phew beans and veggie, I've started having those sort of pains and was getting a bit worried. Thought I was having labout pains this afternoon which panicked me a little!

katie3677 · 03/07/2008 19:55

Oh, and on the bra debate, I'm just going to La Senza every two weeks for the next size up (hope that stops soon otherwise my boobs will be ridiculous). I am intending to continue wearing underwired until it becomes uncomfortable as I have never found any non-underwired bras that are a)nice looking, b)supportive c) comfortable or d)don't make me feel like a granny

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 20:07

i decided to have a quick search on google re:the underwire non underwire thing as i have never actually been officially told by a health proffessional that you should or shouldn't wear them usually just by well meaning previously pregnant woman. anyway officially it is fine to wear underwire as long as they are properly fitted. an ill fitting one can put pressure on your milk ducts. I guess maybe in the old days when underwires were made out of pure steel (or whatever it was) they weren't so comfortable for preggers and lactating boobs but the new ones are more flexible and have that nice soft bit at the end.

interestingly the pages that said don't wear them were the maternity wear online stores mmmmm

evening all, wow it's been busy on here!!

Re bras, as a size F/G normally I go to Bravissimo, I love them!! They did tell me last time that you should have non-underwired bras in pregnancy & when bf as they give proper support so you don't end up with saggy boobs! Have to say though, I hated the monoboob look so just wore them for a bit of support at night.

Change bag wise, I bought a rucksack which I still use now. Perfect size for nappies, wipes, food, bottles etc.

Over the last day or so, I've been feeling the baby so much more. Definitely as active as ds was!

rosmerta · 03/07/2008 20:23

Meant to say as well, chutney hope you're ok, rant away here if you need to!

pixsix · 03/07/2008 20:41

I HATE maternity bras too and have only been wearing them for 2 days!

I have big boobs too and really only like bras from Bravissimo as they seem to be the only ones that fit/give good support/ are not hideous. Am usually a 34/36 E/F in Bravissimo depending on the style but am not in London at the moment so had to go to M&S and got fitted as a 42DD in maternity bras Am wondering if it's really possible that I've grown that much!

The only suitable bra they had gives me total monoboob and has hardly any support so the monoboob is practically resting on my flabby bump and also have the nipple problem that everyone else has mentioned. Attractive.

Will be straight back to Bravissimo as soon as we get back to London in a couple of weeks to see if they have some maternity bras for bigger girls.

rosmerta · 03/07/2008 20:43

pixsix, I've found M&S never seem to measure me properly, always too small or too big! But Bravissimo definitely have maternity bras in bigger sizes

pixsix · 03/07/2008 20:49

Thanks rosmerta, I always find they are so much better at fitting in Bravissimo too and I like the fact that the fitters are bigger girls aswell so they don't bat an eyelid when they tell you your size. Can't wait to go in there in a couple of weeks.

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 20:55

i know it is difficult for ladies with bigger boobs it uncomfortable and all that, but i have always been so jealous of people.who can shop at Bravissimo, their bras are so beautiful.

Indith · 03/07/2008 20:58

I know what you mean Veggie. I am also because they are well made, nice bras and have great fitters. If you are busty you knowyou can go there and get properly fitted. Us norkally challenged ladies have to play hit and miss with the department stores.

pixsix · 03/07/2008 21:01

Thanks for making me see a positive side Indith and Veggie
This thread is so lovely!

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 21:19

norkally challenged that is hilarious!! i can't stop laughing

rosmerta · 03/07/2008 22:05

norkally challenged

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 22:20

speaking of bras and fitting, after i had had my son i needed to buy a new larger (hooray) sports bra but wanted one that was fairly soft and padded inside so it would be nice to my hardworking nipples. I guess forcing a baby out of my nether regions made me lose any sense of dignity. So i was a little more candid than i should have been about my nipples and gave a vivid description of why i would needed a very supportive but padded sports bra. The poor sales woman didnt know what to say when I explained special needs to her, them middle of a busy sports store. She pointed me towards the sports bras and scurried away.

zoejeanne · 04/07/2008 08:51

Hurrah for the norkally challenged - that's brought a smile to my face this morning!!

Thanks for the tips on my 16 wk appointment - I'm really looking forward to it now!

Hope you're all well today and have got a sunny and blue skied start as I have.

Z.x

Verso · 04/07/2008 08:56

Also likely to be having my baby in November - due 4 December but c/s will likely be in November (date tbc).

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks maternity bras are rubbish. I'm sticking to my underwires (not literally!) for as long as possible this time. Much nicer!

JamInMyWellies · 04/07/2008 09:00

Morning

I read somewhere prob here and the nice lady in JL agreed that as long as the bra fits correctly then you can wear underwire, especially if the wire sits just under your breast tissue. TBH last time round my mahoosive boobs went from an A to a B staggering increase and I wore maternity bras for the first 6mth bleugh then got fed up and bought some funky underwired ones from GAP and they were fine and my milk came in no problemo.

No probs with milk supply/underwires here either, all over the blardy place IIRC
