Beans33 · 03/07/2008 11:59

I've also found a really cool looking changing bag - can anyone tell me if it's any good? www.bumpsmaternity.com/item.php?prodKey=YCRM5499&level1Key=1&level2Key=28&level3Key=107&pageK ey=3&sort=0

Thanks!

Hey everyone, I've been so crap at keeping up

I'm neither blooming nor glowing - still puking at least every other day, my skin is awful (worse than when I was 14 sob sob sob), I'm not sleeping well, have horrid headaches, crying over everything & finding my kids very hard work. Sorry about the moan fest I don't say anything to anyon irl because I still feel very unsure & nervous about the baby's health & feel like I'm tempting fate if I complain.

Woke up with awful ligament pain this morning so that freaked me out - managed to eat unpasteurised cheese (was hard though which is okay?) & a runny egg yesterday so was convinved I had listeria/salmonella honestly I'm a complete mess.

I'm uncomfortable in all pretty much all my clothes now - including the stretchy one think I'll have to look out the maternity stuff this weekend.

Oooh thanks very much for your replies veggie, beans and jam! I'll bear the rib expansion in mind .

The bravado ones look really good - a link for those interested here They seem to allow room for more growth and do DD+ size ones too, hurray, the holy grail! They also have one designed to hide the dreaded nipple show through (the fourth one down).

Cross posted with you earlier oli, good luck at your scan.

LadyThompson · 03/07/2008 12:14

Morning all. Haven't been on for a bit as I've been in Greece with my Mother (we get on brilliantly, normally, but she will say annoying things like "I had no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever, just a bump" and "All this fuss about childbirth is unnecessary, I had the two of you at home with no fuss")

Ooh, you've set me off about this changing bag lark. I want one that looks super stylish. I like the look of the one Mibbes suggested a while back, and will check out Beans33's in a mo.

And I am definitely going to get the Davina DVD at lunchtime...Anyone feeling the baby move? Mine's fluttering away like mad now. Finally, anyone based in Oxfordshire? I live in Central/West London but after the baby is born I am going to be spending much of the week in a small Oxfordshire village, I won't know a sausage and I am a little concerned...

Beans33 · 03/07/2008 12:15

Thanks Jolly Bear!

Olipop · 03/07/2008 12:27

Right - sorry for the quick post but off now to catch the train home for my scan - wahoooo - fingers crossed huh!
On the change bag slant - just a hint, I bought a baby change rucksack...very handy as ones on your shoulder tend to swing down and whack baby on the head when you go to scoop them up for a change...I saw it happen many a time!
Hopefully speak tomorrow with some GOOD SCAN NEWS! x

Beans33 · 03/07/2008 12:28

I also don't know how many of you are bored at work, but if so, if you like a bit of rubbishy celeb gossip (comme moi!), then this is very entertaining and updated every half hour or so - brilliant! www.heatworld.com/default.aspx

I felt the baby flutter once just over a week ago, but all quiet on the western front now. I am not expecting it to move now for a few more weeks as most of my friends said their's didn't start til 20-22 weeks. Think it was just a one off at 16 weeks!

This website is a god-send for me at work - really got nothing to do!

Beans33 · 03/07/2008 12:29

Good luck Olipop! Let us know how you get on!

Indith · 03/07/2008 12:47

Second (or third or fourth) figleaves for bras. They have such nice stuff. Last time I hadno money and spent the entire pg and most time bf in horrible granny bras. Not that I have much more money this time but, well first timers never underestimate the confidence and self esteem lows that can arise from spending an entire pg and then bf in horrible bras. I'm still in underwired ones at the moment, got a really good fitting and they are wonderful. Of course when feeding you don't want nice ones for a while as you leak all over them but after that, bring on figleaves

This baby has def started moving recently. If I'm curled up on the sofa and restricting bump space then I can feel it.

I bought a change bag last time. It is my least used piece of overpriced baby clobber. You really don't need a huge bag for a couple of nappies, spare vest and a mini pack of wetwipes do you? I used to pop the above into a nappy bag, sling it in my bag and go (after spending the first couple of weeks going everywhere with 10 nappies and 6 changes of clothing of course ) The thinking behind it being that it was winter so if a nappy exploded all over clothes then the baby would be perfectly happy with just a clean vest on and shoved back in the snowsuit.

Have fun scanning Olipop!

Ds asleep! yay! Off to hang nappies and tackle the washing up.

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 15:13

i never bought a change bag either as they seemed so expensive just bought a normal decent looking rucksack. it fitted all i needed inc having completely separate front section to put dirty nappies to take home for wash. I breast fed though not sure if it would be helpful not having the little spots for bottles etc.

I 2nd the over the shoulder problem too as they swing down and make your stance a bit uneven. Backback was perfect when carrying baby in sling and fits well on the back of pushchair.

one thing you can't live without is plastic bags. I always took about 5 out with me for dirty nappies, clothes, food containers and general rubbish, very handy. So you can look environmentally unfriendly and use plastic bags at the til for your shopping safe in the knowledge that you will well and truely use the later.

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 15:16

Ladythompson sounds like you need to say to your mother "it's wonderful that you are so positive about pregnancy and childbirth and had such positive experiences, but please shut the @$%* up or i will render you unconscious" you can always blame pregnancy hormones.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/07/2008 15:56

waitinggirl - I have only been feeling slight movements since about 16/17 weeks and this is no.3 and apparently, as your stomach muscles get more knackered slacker with each one, you feel things earlier so don't worry.

I have felt much better this time so once the sickness is over, before you feel anything, you feel to 'normal' to be pregnant, but don't worry. Once your belly gets huge you will be sick of it, and baby turning in the last few months can be excrutiating! lol

Thanks to all who have welcomed me, even though I am 'officially' a November mummy this time.

With regards to food, I tend to eat what I want except alcohol and pate. I don't eat veined cheeses anyway but I do eat prawns, straight from the pack (cooked) and peanut butter etc. I also eat dippy eggs with soldiers. As long as they carry the Lion mark I see no problem tbh.

On checking the calendar, I will be 20 weeks on saturday and have my anomaly scan on the 18th and will deffo be finding out pink or blue if we can.

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 16:10

yeah i had a complete ban on peanut butter last time but this time keep forgetting and having peanut butter sandwiches oh well so be it. ooh now i feel like a peanut butter and honey sandwich i'm off to the bread bin then

Flumpybumpy · 03/07/2008 16:12

LOTF - I am offically a Nov mummy too but I got to know everyone on here and wanted to stay.

My due date is 1st Dec but I am having a 3rd section so will be giving birth w/c 17th nov.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/07/2008 16:14

FlumpyBumpy, another crasher! That's okay then.
Have we been on a previous antenatal thread together before?
July 05, Sept 06?

Flumpybumpy · 03/07/2008 16:31

Sept 06. DS was born 23/09/06. I thought your name was familiar!!! Hellooooo again >

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/07/2008 16:43

Ha! I knew it!
DS2 was 10/09/06.

Here we go again then eh? For the 3rd time! lol

Flumpybumpy · 03/07/2008 16:45

No3 was a HUGE shock as I had vowed NEVER to go through this again. I am only just settling down to the idea now it has taken a while.

I feel like a seasoned MNer now

Beans33 · 03/07/2008 16:52

does anyone else get a low down tummy ache? Mine's not entirely comfortable day - sign of things to come, I guess!!

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2008 17:10

yeah i am bean it feels like the baby is sitting just above my pubic bone and kind of stretching out in a star kind of shape, well i can't actually feel it in a star shape but you know what i mean stretching out in all directions, it feels so low, i don't remember Ds being this low, it makes sitting very uncomfortable already!!! and is also a little crampy like very light period/1st stage contraction pain. I've checked apparently its normal.

zoejeanne · 03/07/2008 17:42

Hi everyone, just logged on for the day and it's really interesting to hear all those tales of movement - I can't wait to start feeling something!

I have my 16 week check up with the midwife next week - does anyone know if they'll listen for the heartbeat? My hubby can't make it, but doesn't want to miss out on the heartbeat, so I'm wondering wether to change the appointment to a better day?

And another question - reading all this talk about bras, is there anyone out there whose boobs haven't grown at all? I'm an A cup anyway, but absolutely no change, which is a bit disappointing!

Hope you're all well?
