Oops, meant a month off before the birth! Dim preggy brain.

then 12 months once it comes out. duh.

Beans33 · 24/07/2008 16:53

Aha - thanks Veggie. I am considering whether to come back... Bit worried as childcare round us is so expensive, it almost negates the whole idea of work.

Beans33 · 24/07/2008 16:53

(hurray!)

Olipop · 24/07/2008 16:58

aha - now I'm with you - was a bit worried!!! I'm prob taking a couple of months off before as I have ....get this....7 weeks holiday to take (a combination of accumulated leave and only working two days a week). I was actually doing the sums today and think I might pack up mid october...can't bloody wait!

Olipop · 24/07/2008 16:59

right - once again i have to hurtle out the door for my train - catch up soon xxx

Beans33 · 24/07/2008 17:01

Oooh, so jealous . Roll on 7th November...

72 working days til maternity leave. not that I'm counting...

Veggiemummy · 24/07/2008 17:01

oh thats good i thought that was a bit too little but didnt want to sound judgmental. I took 5 weeks, i was finding tube travel towards the end too much so left a week earlier than expected. So glad i did as the day after i left was 7/7/05 so would have been either stuck on the tube as i was usually coming in on the northern around the time the bombs went off or as i had an emergency bleep for major incidents i would have been waddling around our A&E looking after big people, and i don't like looking after big people.

part of my descision to resigh was childcare cost slightly more than half my income went on nursery so i figured i would rather cut costs at home and look after him myself.

artichokes I'm so happy your scan went well

olipop you might have already left but if not I'll give you a call tomorrow

visiter I remember being given a local for the episiotomy so I think this was still working when they did the stitches.

Just cooking ds's tea and I'm wishing I could get to an M&S for some lovely deli type food for my tea. Oh well, guess I'll manage!

Beans33 · 24/07/2008 17:05

Ooh, I'm going to M&S - might get ready meal for one as DH is working late. Bliss.

EffiePerine · 24/07/2008 17:05

Congrats Artichokes

Thanks for the tip TYV: will try my best NOT to be sick. Do not want to have to do it more than once!

Is anyone else really not liking this hot humid weather?

Everyone says you are warmer when pregnant but I hadn't noticed it before today, grrrr

Veggiemummy · 24/07/2008 17:16

ice thats partly why i got the larger paddling pool so i can get in.

Beans33 · 24/07/2008 17:18

I am definitely even more sweaty than I was before. And that wasn't good prepreggy! DH is coping admirably. Think it's partly why he's going along with big bed idea. Not sure how we'll fit it in our bedroom!

JamInMyWellies · 24/07/2008 17:22

I have spent all afternoon eating ice lollies in an attempt to keep cool all the sugar has made the baby jump around like a loon.

Scan tom quite excited about seeing my mini munch, weirdo that I was panicing at the begining of the week now dead impatient to see him/her.

Puppy training tonight so dont want to go and do battle with my monster dog in this heat and all the huffing and puffing I will do. Good side of it is that DP is out tonight so will be stopping off on the way home for a little takeaway.

Veggie meant to say earlier totally love not living in London now, thought I would hate it and really resisted leaving but am so happy and content here. Whereabout are you again?

well it's a pleasure to chat to you Beans.

Jam, we live in Derby now, we bought an investment property up here and had it done up a bit and i loved the kitchen so much we moved up here. (well not the only reason but it helped). It's just a 2 up 2 down so a bit cramped but cosy. Derby is not an exciting metropolis and can be a bit chavvy but we like it everyone is very friendly and it's so close to some beautiful countryside which will be lovely to do cycle training i when i am without bump. I was so chuffed when i got my first 'wellies' i feel very country mummy in them.

Veggiemummy · 24/07/2008 17:46

i just made a batch of meatballs and now have meatjuice all over my laptop because i am so addicted to this MN chatting i could just stop while i was making them. Not good for a vegetarian laptop.

Veggiemummy · 24/07/2008 17:52

Jam your in Yorkshire aren't you that must be nice have been thinking of popping up one weekend for a look, have been once DH & i went for a Lama trek in the yorkshire dales was a bit surreal wandering around the yorkshire dales with a south american Lama. why did you move?

majormoo · 24/07/2008 18:57

congrats on your little girl Arti.

Whoever was asking about weight gain pages back, I have put on LOADS this time. However, both times before have found it easy to shift after the birth, just takes a few months. Am hoping for the same this time.

Re the birth pain relief, I found the tens really helped last time. I used gas and air too, but it was more useful with the stiches than anything else. I did tear quite badly though last time as DS's shoulders got stuck, so they had to yank him out somehow (don't like to think of exactly how it was achieved!)

We are off on holiday this weekend so see you all when we get back.

rosmerta · 24/07/2008 20:09

have a good holiday majormoo!

Jam, whereabouts in Yorkshire are you? I'm from there originally & my family are still up there. Everytime we go up we start thinking about moving back up but I doubt we will. We're giving ourselves 2 more years in London and then are definitely moving out!

JamInMyWellies · 24/07/2008 20:45

not yorkshire I live in Essex!
