Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CilC · 07/07/2008 11:40

See I am so out of it I start sentences even in writing and don't finish. YOu should see me trying to have a conversation!

Libra1975 · 07/07/2008 11:43

I was going to CilC but have run out of butter, here is the recipe
www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/triplechocolatebrown_72334.shtml

I use walnuts instead of pecans (pecans are nice tho) and buy the expensive (or at least not value!) dark chocolate but the milk and white can be value stuff.

However I would say ring up the hospital about the puking.

CilC · 07/07/2008 11:58

Sorry three posts in a row - but Libra I just read what you wrote. I think a while back in one of our previous threads we discussed this a bit - but I think what you are saying is so perfectly normal. I really believe I went through an almost mourning stage for my previous life.
It is such a big change and not everyone feels the same way. I recall trying to discuss this in my post natal group and people looking at me strangely...but it did take me some time to adjust. I was quite resentful that DH's life did not alter much and I found the lack of autonomy so hard. Just booking a hairdresser appointment required organisation! I think at about 6 weeks I had a big cry out and then realised I had to get on with it and have never really looked back. I also found the more i got to know DD the more I felt better. It is odd to say this but you do not really know your LO when they are first born. I knew I loved her without a doubt but the more I got to know her the more I loved her and did not mind the lack of sleep ins etc.
I think those people who do not go through these doubts sometimes are more surprised by the changes/disruptions etc. to their life. A good friend of mine thought it was all going to be such a dream and lovely and she really found it hard having never contemplated the reality. Having these thoughts shows you have really thought about it and I think very healthy!
It will be hard at times but I bet you are amazed by how unselfish you become Libra! Take care!

isaidno · 07/07/2008 12:17

Libra - it is good that you are aware that your life will be completely different very soon. When I had my first it was a bit of a shock to the system - no sleep, no adult conversation, no time to do anything, never being alone, etc. I loved DS1 but found it very hard to adjust. Babies 2 and 3 just slotted into my new mummy life, but with the first I had to find that new life and learn to enjoy it!

Infacol - I just found it made the puke smell of oranges.

Tjuice - there is a born in June 08 thread under post natal groups.

bebejones · 07/07/2008 12:46

Wow cant beleive that we have nearly filled another thread!!! Congrats to all with July babies, so sorry I cant remember you all, PG brain in overdrive, am just so tired. Thinking that the Infacol sounds like magic and will have to invest!

Belated Happy Birthday to Pigley

Have had a really busy weekend and overdone it a bit so paying for it now!

Went shopping on Saturday and got really hot and pissed off so ended up with nothing that I went in for! Why do shops feel the need to move stuff around so that you can't find ANYTHING. H&M are now on my s**t list...wanted tracksuit bottoms, cause I love the ones I have from there....stupid Cribbs Causeway store have moved EVERYTHING! , plus no one had their air con on and was just heaving and too hot!!!! But on the plus side Baby Gap had a massive sale on, so had to restrain myself a bit in there! Have tempted fate by buying a 'Leo' bodysuit for LO....lets hope she ends up being a Leo, just need to hold out til the 24th!!!!

Have nothing exciting to report, really exciting everyone 'popping'! Hope Purplejennyrose is ok! LO stuck her foot out so far this am that I could actually grab hold of it! Was a bit of a shock...and I dont think she liked it!!!

AggiePanther · 07/07/2008 12:47

CilC I would give MW a call ...is it 'a pulse in your vagina' or 'something pulsing' ..if it's the latter I remember reading somewhere about how the cord can drop and feel like that..don't mean to alarm but if it was I'd feel awful if I hadn't said anything. Best to check it out..and hope you feel better soon.

Libra - i remember i worried about resenting DD1 before she was born ..thinking about my lie ins and nights out ..to be honest it has never happened - yes it's harder to be spontaneous and your nights out/lie ins become really precious ...but I wouldn't change it for the world

disneystar · 07/07/2008 12:48

hi ladies i wonder how purplejennyrose is doing right this minute has she had a cuddle yet?
ive just come back from hospital with my 2 ds and saw a newborn baby it made me feel quite tearfull really
im quite excited about tomorrow which is strange as im usually so scared i just cant wait to cuddle and meet my LO for the first time
is it usual to be this calm?
heffa i hope you get things sorted out and they decide to help the baby along now rather than sending you home if thats what you want
sorry havnt read all the posts but just going to sort out my moses basket and get the sheets and blankets ready for when we come home and finish my bag
my dh will keep you guys updated and im hoping to be home thursday at the latest
but you never know how these things go do you

mcchesers · 07/07/2008 12:52

MMmm now all I can think about is brownies.

No clinic for me today, apparently Tuesday is the day that the consultant is is, so will go to my regular appt tomorrow then.

I'm still seeing a bit of yellowish brown when I wipe (sorry tmi)but labour ward says not to phone back unless baby isn't moving or the pad I have on shows waters have gone or are going.

This is so frustrating.

DH went out yesterday and bought my fav shampoo and replaced my punctured labour ball. I think it's hard for him to see me suffer like this all decked out in spots and cramping. BH are still quite regular...surely the end is in sight?

mcchesers · 07/07/2008 12:57

disney..it's very normal for you to be calm. You've had this time to adjust put things in place. Can't wait to hear your news!!

CilC · 07/07/2008 12:58

Thanks for advice - I am going to ring through as I feel very strange! DH getting my notes as I write!

Good luck tomorrow disneystar!

Should we join the post natal group for the month our LO's were born or should we stick together and call ourselves the Due in July -Postnatal group. I say this because some of us had them early (May and June) and some may not have our LO's until August!

OK off to call hospital...

Libra1975 · 07/07/2008 13:03

Thanks for all the words of reassurance It's so lovely being able to share my wobbles with others and hear there experiences.
My DH is being lovely with telling me how things will change but still be great just in a different way but of course I think he is just saying that to cheer me up, especially as I know how much he is looking forward to being a father and hasn't had any doubts.

BebeJones - I have seen those bodysuits and they are SO CUTE. I would have bought one but was less than 20 weeks and didn't want to jinx and then my local one ran out

DS - Good Luck

Have put infacol on todays shopping list post mid-wife visit!

pigleychez · 07/07/2008 13:03

Libra- I meant to mention this last time when you post the brownie recipes.

I made some and they were yummy. Had a heart attack at the amount of sugar, butter, choc etc and felt very guilty for my poor arteries!! It made loads so DH took a box into work with him....Seems they went down very well and his colleagues think im a fab wifey! so thanks for that!!

Disney... Nice that your so calm and sorted about tomorow... how exciting!

I feel like im going to be pregnant forever! I have had absoluetly no signs of anything happening at all. Doesnt feel like im due to have a baby in 5 days!

I always thought id be early but now the nearer it gets im thinking im going to be overdue..

JacobsPrincess · 07/07/2008 13:20

Terrible wind here in Hastings - and not just the gales outside! I have "trumpet trousers" as DS calls it, and not sure why. Could just be the hormones, or the fact I ate 1/2 pineapple last night.
And now I feel a bit sick. Is this a "clearing out" sign?
Will try and make brownies, but I need a nut free recipe. Any ideas?

pigleychez · 07/07/2008 13:20

I dont like nuts so just left them out.

Still yummy

TJuice · 07/07/2008 13:27

libra - you're basically saying what i have been thinking myself. i also worried about losing myself in all this and its kind of inevitable for a while. i think your dp is absolutely right. i miss lie-ins though!!!

i would like to join a post-natal group with everyone else, so i guess i will wait! or try and create one or something.

Mummywannabe · 07/07/2008 13:35

Heffa - good luck

Disney - best wishes for tomorrow

Libra1975 - I feel the same and its such a relief to know i'm not the only one to feel like that. My dad asked me yesterday if this was the most exciting time in my life, i paused before i answered it is but i feel bit strange about it. Bless my mum who pipped up that its most likely the most overwhelming time but not necessarily the most exciting etc. That made me feel better.

Clic - hope all is well

Pigley - know what you mean, due tomorrow and it feels a bit surreal.

Peanut73 · 07/07/2008 13:57

i agree tjuice - i would like to be in the same post natal group as everyone else too.

one handed typing whiule i feed charlie.

flaky skin - charlie got this after his 1st couple of baths but it was because we put in too much baby wash.

olive oil (or almond oil, etc) helps.
xx

BrownOwl18 · 07/07/2008 14:08

Hello all

Just popped in to let you know that Maisie Elizabeth arrived yesterday (6th) at 11.55am. (By the way she has DP's surname just in case you've seen me on Facebook and thought that I had a strange sense of humour calling my daughter Maisie Field )

Labour was just short of 5 hours & although hard going at the end (big head and shoulders) I managed with gas and air.

She weighed 8lb 12oz so I'm glad we didn't get to 40 weeks.

Symapthies to those of you still in "the waiting room".

pigleychez · 07/07/2008 14:14

ooohhh Brown owl! How exciting! Many congratulations!

Think i must be pyshic.... when i went to open the thread and saw your name as the last poster i just knew it was going to be a birth announcement!

Nice short labour again! You lucky folks.

Really pleased for you!

mcchesers · 07/07/2008 14:24

well done brownowl!! yay more babies.

RUMPEL · 07/07/2008 14:32

HI All,

Congrats JOCECAR and BROWNOWL!

Think it has started for me - been feeling hellish all weekend and had cramps and contraction all morning - went for alie down to listen to hypnobirthing when DD was asleep but they never abated. Am also shaking like mad! This better be it as I had to call my Mum, who has had to cancel all her shifts this week to come down and watch DD.

Ill be in touch - positive vibes here please and good luck PURPLEJENNY and DISNEY.

Mummywannabe · 07/07/2008 14:34

Congratulations Brownowl Rumpel - good luck!

pigleychez · 07/07/2008 14:35
