DUE ON CHRISTMAS DAY

hi not sure where to post this but thought this looked the obvious place. I found out 7wks ago that im pregnant with my first child. Im over the moon as always believed (and was told by drs) since i was 19 (im 32 now) that i couldnt have so im over the moon that i am hehe. my boyfriend and i are looking forward to the birth of our wee bundle of joy - cant belive its due on christmas day tho haha.

Getting my 12 wk scan on the 20 June (I will be just over 13wks) and my first midwife appointment on 23 June - although i had my "booking in" appointment with the doctor on 8th May. We dont seem to get much living in Edinburgh lol.

anyway just thought id say hello and hope everyone else is well xxx

Enjoy the time on your own and rest when you want to, its harder the second and third times round when the kids dont know or understand how ill and tired you are. Even DH's dont really get it!

is this your first scan? how many do you get?

i only get one its really crap and when i called surgery today to find out when my scan was likely to be i got the "cant be bothered attitude" she wasnt going to book me in before my first midwife appointment (23 june) but i said id rather i had my 12 wk scan before i went as the midwife had told me i would so im going on 20 june for my first scan then i will have to pay for one at 22 wks but i dont grudge paying to see my wee bundle of joy(although i had one at 6wks and 6days to check baby was where it was supposed to be and it was)

This is my first scan, we get two here now. Another at 20 weeks, you only get more if there are problems.

What happens if you cannot afford a scan? I thought the 20 week one was the important anomaly scan and the 12 week one was only a dating one?

i got told when i was due at my 6wk scan (early one due to them wanting to double check where baby was) but i knew anyway by my calculations lol but as a rule in Edinburgh you only get one scan at 12 wks - obviously i think if something was wrong theyd scan you again. I will just have to afford to pay it hehe

Hi all, I'm also due on Christmas Day, with twins (hello everyone from the December thread!) and have my scan on Thursday. Very anxious to see if they are both still there! I've never had to have a full bladder with scans at any stage that I can remember, and at the Homerton, the 12-week is dating and nuchal fold, with blood tests alongside to check for hormone levels which might also indicate problems.

Congratulations Scottishbq - I'm pretty excited, but didn't have to wait 13 years, so I can't imagine how elated you are.
