Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

Yep Ive found you eandz!
Its weird that you are actually real people. Got you too littlecon what an impressive bump!
Its a shame I have to go out now. Ill be back soon.

Sunshinemummy · 28/05/2008 11:36

Hi all - I'm not on Facebook as can't use it at work and wouldn't get round to it at home. Am definitely up for a London meet up though.

DP has had loads of lovely deliveries to work today, including the Amby Nest, some decorations for Baloo's room and some new handles for her built in wardrobe. Am very excited about seeing them all when I get home. We also found some curtains and other soft furnishings for he yesterday - very very excited about doing up her room as it's currently the guest room and a bit of a mess.

Only two more days in the office and then 4d scan and holiday!

Sunshinemummy · 28/05/2008 12:10

Isn't July 8th a Tuesday?

StarlightMcKenzie - I am usually a bit of a night owl, at least when my pregnancy hormones aren't knocking me out at 10pm!

I'd say hello to everyone at a London meet up for sure.

Just been to a "taking care of your back during pregnancy" class, and they told me no more hoovering allowed. Thought I'd pass that on to you all!

mama2bee · 28/05/2008 12:52

eandz I'd also be interested in a London meet, would be great to put faces to names! Oxford Circus sounds good, confused about date though!

mama2bee · 28/05/2008 12:57

jenbot re taking care of your back - any other suggestions for lower back pain (apart from stopping hoovering) my hubbie will be pleased! I should probably go swimming (I've said this for weeks!) but never seem to get round to it. Any swimmers out there, are there any strokes you should avoid. I thought I heard breaststroke but that's the one I normally do! Any thoughts?

Pidge · 28/05/2008 13:02

mama2bee - I've also heard breaststroke is not great for backs - it's even worse if you swim with your head up out of the water as that cricks your neck at an awkward angle. I was also a breaststroke only girl, but taught myself a (probably very inelegant) crawl a few years back, and it's quite fun actually. I usually alternate - one length of each. Backstroke is great too, but I can't be doing with bumping into people. And my swimming hasn't happened yet this pregnancy due to my eczema skin problems. Hopefully I'll get into it soon.

I would have thought a good yoga or pilates teacher with pregnancy expertise would be good for back problems.

Is anyone else finding it impossible to focus on work? I'm here till September 11th, but am already off with the fairies in terms of concentration. And not sure what to do about it!

mama2bee · 28/05/2008 13:12

pidge thanks for the advice...just got to make the effort now! I had back problems before I got pg, (sitting on bum all day at work doesn't help, even with breaks!) so I'm not surprised the pain has come back.

Definitely agree about finding it hard to focus at work, have no advice I'm afraid! I keep counting down the weeks until I finish in August, but at the same time don't want to wish the summer away. Oh there's no pleasing some people!

Jenbot · 28/05/2008 13:15

mama2bee, if you are having problems at night, she said that lying on a firm mattress isn't so great when pregnant, because everything is looser due to the hormones. She suggested trying folding a big thick duvet up in half and lying on top of that so you're on a soft surface instead.
And she said you can avoid rolling over if you just keep swapping foot and head from top to bottom of the bed (IYSWIM).

She said it might be an idea to buy a little sloping cushion to tilt yourself forwards a bit when sitting, with a rolled up towel in the curved small of your back, if you find it painful to sit for long periods.

She said if you're tall, try not to bend / lean over to do things, and hmm, she said do pelvic floor exercises.
That was about it I think!

eandz · 28/05/2008 13:15

i meant the weekend of july 8th giving everyone the option to vote for the weekend before or the weekend after. sorry...i'm confusing these days

Jenbot · 28/05/2008 13:16

Oh and yes, she did say breaststroke was bad!

mustsleep · 28/05/2008 13:17

ooh my highchair has just come!!

well my nesting has begun but i had forgotton that i do not get the cleaning bug and that i decorate instead have just done all the glossing i have been putting off for two years and am going out to buy some paint to do the hall stairs and landing tomorrow

we still haven;t decided whether we are going to bother splitting the bedrooms or not yet what do you guys think? three smaller rooms or two big rooms? the loft just isn't big enough to do without adding a dormer and we don;t have the cash for that yet - ds will be seven shortly after lo is born and dd 3 and they would all be sharing a room when lo leaves our bedroom at 6months

starlight my ex boyf tried to contact me through facebook and although i would obv never do anything dh hates him (basically as he was texting me on our wedding night asking to get backtogther )

but anyway if you find the person you want to avoid you can block them so if they search your name you donot appear on the results list and any common friends you have you do not appear on their list as far as that person is concerned!! but i can see why you would be worried she sounds nice

hopefully · 28/05/2008 13:46

I avoid facebook not because I have any interesting stalker exes, but because I actually don't like any of my ex boyfriends very much (I'm such a great ex...), and three of them asked to be my friend when i did join it for about 3 minutes! So sadly you will all have to cope with only having my inane chatter on here as well.

Starlight that sounds frightening - I don't blame you for trying to keep out of her way.

I've just uploaded some scan pics onto my profile - DP finally got them scanned in this morning. There's a pic of Baloo in profile and a great one of her legs.

Ohhh I do facebook, and I have an easy name to find so please add me - Lorna Wiggins (no middle names), i don't have any pictures of me pregnant, maybe I should bite the bullet.

EandZ - I am good for either weekend, I don't live in London so I vote for going for lunch or something, then I might try and tie it in with going to see Tutencarmooon (I can't spell it!) at the O2!

mama2bee · 28/05/2008 14:22

Thanks for that jenpot - I think a rolled up towel in the small of my back would def help - I may also go for a pregnancy massage, but I'm not sure how effective that will be.

eandz the w/end of 12/13 July is good for me, but I may be able to do 5/6th, I'll know more nearer the time...Lunch sounds great.

I second Eandz's recommendation for a pregnancy pillow. I got mine from John Lewis and it's a godsend and helps me get comfortable. I have an underlying back problem from a car crash 10 years ago and pregnancy brings it right back.
