Libra - just call him dick for brains or something back! Also, baby wipes, you go through SOOOO many of those! Those first poo's ae a nightmare to get off! So it's worth stocking up on them too! esp if you see them at buy one get one free!

I remember just taking 2 packets of maternity pads into hospital with me and having to borrow some after 2 days and getting DH to get some more from tesco's!

I Really need an ice cream now!!! Might get one on the way to nursery! (though not a Solero I don't like them! )

jocesar · 07/05/2008 13:20

re. spas I live in Dorset too. Have been to Nirvana spa (Reading)- was excellent but I've also been to the Chewton Glen (Nr christchurch) which was smaller but I liked more and had an excellent but expensive pregnancy massage last week.

Very jealous of everyone talking about maternity leave! I run my own veterinary practice so I'll be working until I pop!

Re. BH contractions, I'm not sure if I've had any but (this may be TMI) after I've had an orgasm my uterus gets rock hard but not painful- is this the same thing???

Can anyone palpate their own baby and decide where the head is etc? I'm convinced mine is transverse because I feel movements low down on each side but it's frustrating me that I don't know for sure.

Sooo glad I don't have SPD- sounds horrendous- send hugs to everyone suffering with this.

JODIEhavingababy · 07/05/2008 13:24

Hi Jocesar,

I was told that if you can feel your bump, the difference between the head and the bump is this - if you wiggle the head it moves from side to side, wiggle the bum and it moves the whole body.. Although when I asked my MW about this she said it's still too small to tell, esp. to the 'untrained' eye and she sometimes struggles unless it's really obvious. Once it gets to about 32-34 weeks it should be easier to tell.... (this was at my 28 week appt.

LilyToTheB · 07/05/2008 14:04

Jocesar thanks for the tip on Chewton Glen, looks lovely! I really like the idea of the pregnancy massage they do there! Shame it's a bit pricey to stay there though, maybe could stay in a hotel nearby and go there for the day?

Jodie - do you mean actually wiggling the baby through your tummy? I don't like the sound of that!

EEC · 07/05/2008 14:13

I thought the bounty pack was very disappointing too. I brought it home with great excitement, but really there are only a few vouchers in there!

I'm also buying toiletries etc bit at a time - it does seem that you spend less money that way, but of course you don't!

I'd forgotten how many pads you need - must get more. i also went through loads of breast pads - leaked all over the place.

Jocesar - My bump does the same - I would say this is BH. Having one now as I type (not orgasm, obviously!) and feels just the same.

I can't palpitate my baby myself. I have no idea where it is - bits sticking out and moving all over the place.

Have just eaten a choc ice. Yum.

sweetkitty · 07/05/2008 14:34

I can just about palpate the baby last time I had a student MW and she used to practice on me so I would have a go myself, I know she's head down bum tucked under my ribs on the right side with arms and legs pointing left. Her head it free of my pelvis as well.

Yes you will need at least 3 times as many sanitary towels as you think you do especially for the first few days, I hate sitting around in wet towels yuck I usually changed them at least every hour. Oh and that gloopy feeling when you get up from sitting too. Luckily it calms down pretty quickly.

Breastpads breed and infect your home, I had some in every bag, upstairs and downstairs. You will go through 100s to start with. I still have a few left from DD2 but will stock up why are they never on BOGOF?

Libra - I so know what you mean one friend of mine refers to me as Mummy, in that she will say hello MUMMY how are you today? Now considering I am already a Mummy of 2 I don't see the point of it.

All people ever talk to me about now is the bump now it's Summer and it's noticeable. I think I will get a t-shirt printed with

I'M DUE 10 JULY
YES IT'S A GIRL

Do you think it would be gutsy to eat another Solero now? Thing is I will have to give the DDs another Mini Milk so think I will wait.

Libra1975 · 07/05/2008 14:38

I am eating frozen grapes and feeling very smug.....

LikerabbitsBX · 07/05/2008 14:41

Hi guys,

Just added a pic of my bump 28+5, scans say girl but everyone keeps saying a boy by my bump!!???

What do you guys think?

Libra1975 · 07/05/2008 14:46

can't see any photos, however I am more likely to err on the side of modern technology.....

LikerabbitsBX · 07/05/2008 14:51

hi my fault, hopefully you can see now

LikerabbitsBX · 07/05/2008 14:52

have other angles in my pictures section

Libra1975 · 07/05/2008 14:57

Well you're definitely pregnant.

sweetkitty · 07/05/2008 15:14

I would agree with Libra I think a trained sonographer who looks for willies day in day out is a far better judge of the sex than people in the street guessing by the shape of your bump which is a total old woves tales anyway.

Now out front and high is supposed to be a boy, carrying low and all around a girl by this I should be on my third boy by now.

Even when I say to people "we know it's a girl" they say "oh but what if it's not it's not 100% my friends, aunts, best friends dog was told a boy and it was a girl" what are you meant to say "erm if it's not a girl we will be suing the sonographer and sending the baby back!

We haven't told many people that we know it's a girl, and it's great listening to everyone guessing. My MIL is convinced it's going to be a boy, mostly because she doesn't like girls (she's mad).

I'm really craving a Solero now, and I don't even like them .

On the subject of breastpads - I have some Lilypadz things, but I'm guessing I need some normal breastpads as well?

Libra1975 · 07/05/2008 15:46

all I know is mine is human, which I think is a good start.

LilyToTheB · 07/05/2008 15:52

Yeah me too, waiting for the surprise!

People kove guessing though don't they? Strange how so many people are convinced what it is, yet what they think is different!

Will just have to wait and see...

CilC · 07/05/2008 15:59

Hi everyone...I succumbed and went and bought some soleros and magnums and frozern berries to make smoothies. Now I have bought them have not eaten anything...

Likerabbits- your bump looks like mine and my bump is exactly the same as my first bump! Had DD then and a DS this time and have to say my bumps are exactly the same. My babies also lie to the right in the same way. So go with the radiographer!

I found breastfeeding tops a pain, bt would fall out and harder for me to be discreet but did find the nighties useful. I used a muslin to cover me if out and about or in public. I have to be very honest here, I have never been small in that department (am now an F!!!) and despite feeding DD for 18 months I never ever felt comfortable in public. So would use a muslin or blanket to cover up. I also found my breast feeding pillow a godsend.

I never needed breast pads...but most people I know did. I think we are all different and I recall swapping my 4 packs of breast pads with a friend for a coffee and cake. So if you do find you have things you don't use I am sure in your ante natal groups you can always do swaps!

Last pregnancy I had so many strangers touch my bump. I vowed this time if a person did it I would turn around and touch their bottom! Well today I finally did it...but I think I ended up more embarassed . I think I need to work on what I should say when I do it. Anyway the lady in the line at Waitrose probably won't do it again if she sees me!

sweetkitty · 07/05/2008 16:01

They have a 50/50 chance on getting it correct though not fantastic odds

I have never bothered with breastfeeding tops just yanked my top up and got on with it. I had lilypadz as well but didn't get on with them, found if I wore them for a few days my nipples got a rash and also they leaked in the early days. Might look at getting some really decent washable ones, I had some but they were rubbish as well so went back to disposables which seem a waste.

gillythekid · 07/05/2008 17:09

All this talk of breasts makes me think to finally ask those of you who've done this all before!! I've got really big boobs and a small back, usually a 30-32 G or GG depending on the brand. I'm still wearing my usual non underwire bras and really haven't grown much, other than a bit of expansion round the ribs (so now got the bras on the last hook) I bought some 34G ones and am wearing them in the last couple of weeks but not up to the tightest fastener yet. When do I venture out for the nursing bra and will I look like Lolo Ferrari till they wither up and droop? In other words, if they're big to start with, how much bigger can they realistically get? Incidently, they've never looked this small as bump increases but still no leaks.

jocesar · 07/05/2008 17:11

Just went out and bought a solero! Who started that craze! It was delicious but have now had to guzzle some Gaviscon.

Peanut73 · 07/05/2008 17:42

Mmmmmm SO-LE-RO.....

Libra - so funny re the bloke at work calling you 'Mummy'. I have the same thing at my work too, except I'm not a mummy yet, and the sleazy guy calling me Mummy in a cutesy voice is 65. Gross - it makes my skin crawl!!

minipinkscottish · 07/05/2008 18:08

Hi all!! sorry but just had to say it I'm on maternity leave!!!grin]

HURRAH!!! How fabulous!!!

CilC · 07/05/2008 18:33

I have not yet had my solero - enjoyed buying it but have not felt like eating it yet...something must be wrong with me... oh that is right, I'm pregnant!!

Gilly I am not on the small side - usually F. Was told to get maternity bras at about 36-38 weeks. I went up a size to G by then. You do tend to enlarge a bit for a week or so as milk comes in (and if like me you go out in the first few weeks and don't feed for about 6 hours - I did express though!)but then I went back to size I was at 38 weeks... and then within 4 months back to old self, admittedly with a tiny bit more droop BUT it was not as bad as I thought!

My neighbour who has 3 children said her major drooping began after her second... so not looking forward to that!

Congrats minipinkscottish!
