Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

serendippity, you poor love! I get something that is a bit like sciatica called pelvic girdle pain, with basically means I get a pain in my buttock which makes walking painful, sitting almost impossible and rolling over in bed...forget it! Thankfully it has come and gone so far this pregnancy, but bet it will be back with a vengance later. Apparently it is related to SPD, but at the back rather than the front. Either way, anything like that hurts like heck!

cricri, great news about your NT scan and how fab they think it's a girl, that's amazing!

Opps, meant to say I am fine, the spotting stopped. Occasionally I will think I see a pinkish tinge on the cm when I wipe, but me thinks I may be looking too closely, ewww!

Hello jette and congratulations! This is a very exciting week for our group.

cricri good news about your scan.[GRIN]

Sorry to hear people are having headaches. The blood thing would make a lot of sense, as I get migraines and they are caused by a tightening or the blood vessel to the brain which constricts the blood flow, so increased blood flow would easily explain headaches. You can take migraleve, but you should see your GP first to check.
Roca my eldest is due to start nursery in sept, I don't know his hours yet but I'm wondering how I'm going to get DD to her little groups with newborn and be on time to collect DS. Major strategic planning and to the minute efficiency..neither of which necessarily compatible with three under 4, or 5 years old!

pinkyminky · 21/04/2008 21:21

sorry cricri, I put caps on my so it didn't work!

pinkyminky · 21/04/2008 21:22

Glad your spotting has stopped, Heartmum x

LolaBella · 21/04/2008 21:35

Oh wow Crici i can't believe that they can tell its 's a girl at this early stage. Fab news xx

Thanks for advice on headaches ladies. Dozymare i will try your advice tommorrow and drink loads of water.

Roca · 21/04/2008 23:50

Twinklingfairy - you are usually up now - how's it all going?

dozymare · 22/04/2008 08:10

morning All - can't believe you got odds on for a girl at such an early stage!! Amazing!! I am having a "OMG, I am PG" moment today as just realised that for the past god knows how long (erm 10 weeks) I have been almost in denial.....I will also have 3 under 5 years but looking forward to it in a strange way.....I still feel very unpregnant.....which I have stopped worrying about now as made to feel a whole lot better when I posted that a few days ago that so many of you felt the same.

I am seeing the councillor on Friday (midwife trained) to talk about my fears which are still there - just not dwelling on them so much

Hope everyone has a good day, I always seem to be on here when you are all logged off!!!

Have fun

DM x

Pinkali37 · 22/04/2008 09:24

Morning Dozy, i'm here.

You lot are all professional pregnant people ! Wow 3 under 5 will be a hand full but my goodness so worth it.

I still don't feel pregnant i.e. i can not believe there is a baby in my tummy! How weird is that?!?!? I want to feel a bump, that will make it real.

Had acupuncture last night and I nearly cried at every needle going in. Only had 4 as well. What a wimp, must definitely be pregnant being quite so sensitive.

smilesattheweekend · 22/04/2008 09:47

Pinkali - how are you feeling about tomorrows' scan? I am getting really uppity with DS and DH - just want to see little tidgy and know it is ok, like you still can't beleive there is a bean in my tum! I really want to tell people, but want to wait til 12 weeks still.

X

Pinkali37 · 22/04/2008 09:54

Morning Smiles, I am really nervous. Feel like it is going to be over. Stupid I know. Have already seen PEA twice before but somehow I am still negative. I am trying not to show DH how I feel. Everynow and again I say "I hope Tarquin is ok tomorrow" and that's it.

Creena · 22/04/2008 09:59

Morning all - just popping in quickly while DS has a nap...

Roca - yep, two scans this week. It's just the way it's worked out; the first one is the NT scan that we've had to arrange ourselves (it's not available on the NHS here) and the second one - the following day - is my dating scan.

As for going from two children to three, I have to admit that I've had a fairly easy time of it because the age gap between the first two and the third one is massive. My eldest is almost 17 now and the second one is 11, so they're both pretty much self sufficient and can get on with things themselves. They've been brilliant with the little one though - they really dote on him and want to be as hands on as possible. They love to help me out at bath time for example by getting C out of his clothes while I run the bath and stuff. So it's been fine so far.

Having said all that, I'm absolutely crapping myself at going from three to four! By the time this baby is born, C will be just 18 months old. I've never had children that close together before and I have no idea what to expect! So I'll be asking you and all the other ladies with LOs close together for some Top Tips because I won't have a clue!

CriCri - excellent news on the scan! Glad it all went so well and to get some odds on gender is fantastic! I would love a girl this time around but obviously I'll be just as happy with another little fella!

serendippity - ouch! Sounds painful! Hope it ease off soon for you. Would a maternity support belt help at all, do you think? I had some SPD last time (more to the milder end of the scale though) and I found my support belt to be an absolute life saver! If the pain persists or gets worse, it might be worth asking your GP if you can be referred to a physiotherapist.

dozy - hope all goes well on Friday. I'm sure it will and you'll feel loads better for having talked things through. Don't forget that you can always come and chat with us here too, if you want.

Right. I'd best get off and sort some laundry out before C wakes up again. Catch you all later!

smilesattheweekend · 22/04/2008 10:00

Tarquin????

My DH is getting a bit at me for worrying, he says it is no good for tidgy and based on the last scan (which was a complete lifetime ago - well only 2 weeks) we should be ok - I just don't want to get too excited for it all to be over again, but I want to get excited if you know what i mean .

Really must make a mental note not to be so silly but I blame it on the hormones etc. I am glad you are here to talk to - no-one else knows in the real world and I can't wait to talk about it more.

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 10:15

thank heavens for MN!

I only wish I'd found it when I was pregnant with DS....well I knew about it, cos Justine and Carrie used to do a programme on Discovery Health, but I never used the website.

I have just eaten four mini mars bars, and feel very sick now.....serves me right!

Good Luck for tooly for your scan today.

Creena, if we'd paid to go private for a Nuchal fold scan here, they would have cancelled our dating scan

I talked to the lady who I'm hoping will be my doula earlier. she is coming over to see me tomorrow, but so far she seems lovely and it looks like we'll get on well. I'm quite excited about it!

Pinkali37 · 22/04/2008 10:16

Sorry Tarquin is our silly name for PEA. Don't worry we are not seriously thinking about calling him/her that! how cruel woudl that be?

I have ups and downs about my scan. One minute I think it must be normal for the boobs to stop hurting etc.. and then I panic that something has gone wrong. My last scan was 2 weeks ago too and it does feel like an age ago. I just can't stand the thought of having seen it twice and then it having stopped developing I am trying to chill but this is easier said then done.

I have ordered a couple of maternity things from NEXT directory and they arrived a week ago. I refuse to take them out of the bad until I know all is fine with PEA tomorrow. We are out at a dinner party on Saturday and last night I had a dream that PEA had died and we had to ring them up and tell them I just couldn't cope with that. BUT there again all may be fine. xxx

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 10:19

I know how you all feel. It only hit me yesterday that this is actually hapeening. I kept wandering around yesterday exclaiming "there's a baby in my tummy", "OMG, I'm having a baby" and such like. DH keeps saying I'm the only one who seemed to doubt it.

and the relief that there is only one is enormous as that was one of my worries. I was joking with some of the school run mums about it being something in the water around here, as there are loads of twins at DSs school, and even two sets of identical triplets .

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 10:20

pinkali, I'm sure everything is just fine. {{{{{{{hugs }}}}}}} to you and smiles though.

smilesattheweekend · 22/04/2008 10:22

Pinkali, I had a dream too that it had gone and come out (eughh), it looked like an alien and I couldn't speak!

I want to get my mat clothes that I put away in the loft and I also want to put my name on the due date thread but somehow can't bring myself to do it. I have some trousers from M&S which aren't maternity but they don't have a waistband, they are good enough for work and don't dig in at all because they are stretchy they were only £15 so will wear them until I can't get into them anymore and I can bring myself to get the mat clothes out. DH started talking about the spare room last night and I had to stop him. I can't think past tomorrow, have to wait all day at work then go to EPU for 4pm its going to be a long day. Might treat myself to a nice bath tonight to try and relax. Have tried to talk to DS about babies so that we can 'prime'him for telling him that he will be a big brother (he is 4.5 years old) when I say about one of his friends being a big brother, he says well I have molly (our cat)!!

mum2becks · 22/04/2008 10:34

Hi all, well I am 12 weeks today cant belive it!! Providing they dont change my date when I have my scan on friday that is!!

It feels like it has taken forever to get even to this point and there is still such a long way to go!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like its going to be a really busy week with scans so that will keep me going while I wait for mine on friday, good luck to everyone for this week will update you after my scan (excited yet very nervous so just want friday to be here now!!)

Pinkali37 · 22/04/2008 10:36

I also have to stop DH from talking about the spare room. We have already cleared it out and he keeps mentioning lemon and what a cot will look like in it, and where the nrsing chair will go and what colour carpet etc.. and I just can't think past tomorrow. I only have to wait until 11.45 tomorrow so feel sorry for you having to wait until 4pm. Luckily I work for DH and our offices are attached to our house so I can run through to my bedroom if I need some quiet time.

Talking of headaches, i have the most awful headache this morning, in my eyes. Probably too much MN.

xx

smilesattheweekend · 22/04/2008 10:41

Sounds like a great way of working!! Will you be able to let us know how you get on before I leave at 2.45?? Must get on with some work now - will pop in at lunchtime to catch up!

Pinkali37 · 22/04/2008 10:49

If it is good news (fingers crossed) I will come through to the office and let you all know. The hospital is only 10 minutes away so would expect to be back around 1pm at the latest. I am just praying all is fine. xxx

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 10:55

it does seem like an age to get here doesn't it? But try and think that we are almost at or just past a quarter of the way through and that makes it seem much better.

I better get my butt off this computer and do some laundry. DH has been very good with me whilst I've been feeling low, but I think his patience is wearing thin. He took DD shopping so that I could get on with some things, and 45 mins later, I'm still sat her

Have a good day, and think "healthy and well" thoughts.

daisy xx

cricri · 22/04/2008 11:28

It's finally sinking in that I'm having a BABY I hope all goes well for everybody having scans this week and that you can all start relaxing. I totally sympathise - I've been so nervous these past few weeks and yesterday's scan was just such a relief.
Somebody mentioned the pain of acupuncture earlier - I've just come back from a session and I definitely felt the needles more than normal!
Daisy I'm also thinking of having a doula so I'd be interested to hear how you get on tomorrow with the lady you're seeing. I've just left a message for the lady who was recommended to me so hopefully she'll get back to me soon.
I've also booked my NCT classes too - it's all happening!
Right, better get back to work now... Hope everybody is OK.

smilesattheweekend · 22/04/2008 12:12

Pinkali - Am praying for all of us here! Has anyone thought about buying a doppler (sorry if this has been asked before) there seem to be some on the market for about £40 and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. Wouldn't use it alot just every now and again and possibly whilst on holiday?
