I haven't had to tell work yet when I'm planning to start maternity leave, but I will soon.

I'm due June 29 and would like to work as long as I can because I get paid quarterly bonuses, but am I being overly optimistic?

How many weeks before your due date are you leaving work or how many would you recommend?

With my first ( I haven't worked since) I gave up at 34 weeks and was really bored at home and felt like I really was just waiting for baby to arrive, she came at 38 weeks. I probably should have stayed another couple of weeks.

Im due 12th July and according to the Government website I needed to tell my employers by the end of March ( either 26th or 29th cant rememeber which)

Im taking maternity leave 6 weeks before and taking two weeks annual leave on top of that.
So many people i know say they wish they had longer as they worked till 36 weeks then baby came the week after so they had no time to themselves before.
Plus my sister is due May 26th and i plan to spend time with her when her LO arrrives.

29 work days left!!!!

I finished 3 weeks before and the hanging about was horendous! My job is very busy and stressful but I would not want to sit around twiddling my thumbs for about 8 weeks before hand, unless you are having medical problems.

I was very tired and struggled (with not being able to sleep at night and painful spd) but was worth it to have as much time as possible with my dd after. I think if I already had children though would have had to finish sooner.

The amount of leave you have now has changed anyway but it meant I went back to work when my dd was five months and one week and it was hard hard hard (breast pump was my friend!)

Thanks everyone. I have been planning to work until mid June, which would make me 38 weeks. My midwife strongly suggested stopping early June, but I don't really want to - most of the time. If it's been a long day, then I want to stop on the day!
