Morning all

Welcome to Tasha and MissMattie. BadKitty sorry to hear about your insensitive GP. I remember feeling similar afer my GP appointment when I was expecting DD. The GP couldn't have cared less and when I asked what I was meant to do if there were complication before my 12 week booking appointment he said "there is nothing we can do if you lose the baby so early"...

Well is seems we are all suffering from exhaustion. After my busy day yesterday I crawled into bed at 8.45pm Shock. I felt terrible and was actually shaking with tiredness. Thankfully DD slept through until 7.30am this morning so I got nearly 11 hours sleep Smile. I feel a lot better today and DH and I celebrated by going for a lovely breakfast in one of the parks near our offices. It was so sunny that we sat outside and I had cinammon pancakes with bannana and maple syrup. It felt almost like a summer holiday Smile.

RawChocolate · 10/04/2008 14:28

Sorry to hear about people's GP's being so insensitive.

Wanted to share a nice GP story to make up for it. Saw mine yesterday (never met him before) and he was so kind and happy for me - kept saying congratulations and that if I had any concerns/problems to come back anytime.I was a bit overwhelmed!

My thoughts are with you cazcaz.
xx

ColumbosWife · 10/04/2008 14:54

Hi, can I join? My due date ( child no 3) is December 15th, though I don't really believe it yet because I had a mc in November, so until I'm through the first trimester it all feels provisional. Haven't told anyone in real life except dh.

Last time, we told the children ( ds, 8 and dd5) too early, I think ( though weirdly, they both seemed quite relieved after the mc Hmm).

What are you all doing about drinking coffee? Very Sad that the new advice is total abstinence - I feel sleepy enough as it is - but don't want to do anything to jeopardise baby. At the moment, have cut down to one cup at breakfast, then nothing else all day. But not sure if I can cut it out completely...

majormoo · 10/04/2008 15:07

hello and welcome Columbo's wife. I did not realise you could not have any coffee. I don't drink it myself really but do drink tea and I thought a few cups a day was OK. It changes all the time so hard to keep up with it all. Didn't someone else mention Peppermint tea earlier on. Was the consensus that it is OK or not?I drank it loads when pregnant with DD, but then I also forced myself to eat loads of tuna thinking that was good for the baby, and now you are not supposed to have too much of that either.

Bisou sorry did not catch your earlier post but thanks for pointing it out. It is hard to keep up with the posts if you do not look for a couple of days.

I did another pregnancy test this afternoon. Number 6. It was still positive but I have got to stop myself wasting money on tests now.

RawChocolate your GP sounds lovely. Am holding off calling ours for a couple of weeks as the receptionists can be quite horrible at my surgery if you get the wrong one.

rosmerta · 10/04/2008 15:10

hi all, nice to see the list is growing & growing

badkitty sorry about your GP. Do you know which hospital you're going to? If so, I'd ring them up and ask for the antental dept and ask to speak to a midwife. They should be very helpful and may book you an appt before your scan.

majormoo & bisou am so sorry to hear about your experiences, they must have been so hard.

Have realised that things like cake & biscuits are making me feel sick Sad, what can I have now?

rosmerta · 10/04/2008 15:13

Re peppermint tea, I was recently observing an antenatal class and about 3 of the women there were drinking peppermint tea so maybe it is ok?

I know we're not meant to have much caffeine now so am trying to cut down my diet coke intake & will move onto a caffeine-free tea when I find one I like!

kutilputil · 10/04/2008 16:00

hi all.feeling much the same today, a little nausea and very tired..but did marathon batch cooking so i don't have to for a while, incase i am sick!i'm also going off certain foods and drink like tea...hubby is being good though, with all the helping out.

MrsMattie · 10/04/2008 16:08

Hi all.

I had my an appointment with my GP this morning as a follow-up to my dating scan yesterday. He started talking about which hospital I would have the baby in Shock - all made it seem much more real!

I'm feeling very, very sick now and retching all through the day. Have managed to eat 2 slices of white toast for breakfast, a few bites of madeira cake for lunch and am now trying to eat a small baked potato. There are very few things I can bear eating, and the smell of DH cooking lunch today made me violently sick Sad. I can't wait for this phase to be out the way...

RawChocolate · 10/04/2008 16:22

For all those feeling sick, saw this in a book the other day,

"It has been theorized that morning sickness occurs when sub-optimal quantities of water are consumed by the mother and the nausea that occurs during morning sickness may be a manifestation of thirst from the unborn foetus."

Sure its in my head but I do seem to be feeling less sick after a glass of water...

kutilputil · 10/04/2008 16:29

interesting RawChoclate....could be some truth in that as i am having more water this time roud whereas with my first i didn't and was sick all the time, ended up losing a whole stone!

nandos · 10/04/2008 16:51

I didnt want to say so early at this time but i havent got MS yet! Grin I think the theory might just be right cos' i've been drinking quite a lot and everytime im thirsty, i drink....and eat as well Blush

MrsMattie · 10/04/2008 16:53

Hmmm. For me, water doesn't ease it at all. If I wasn't drinking any water God knows how sick I'd be, but even with upwards of 2 litres a day I am still terribly, terribly sick Sad

Bisou · 10/04/2008 18:01

Welcome ColumbosWife! Nice to have you here with us Smile I don't drink coffee myself, but there is also caffeine in black & green teas (although not as much obviously). I'm still drinking normal tea myself, if you end up finding a good caffeine-free one rosmerta, please do let us know.

majormoo, there was a website that I found & posted earlier on that said to avoid peppermint tea if you have a history of MC, but there are stacks of sites that say it's ok, and my midwife mum (also a qualified herbal medicine practicioner) said that she's never heard of it being a problem. I guess it's up to the individual. I've heard the tuna thing too - I think it's to do with the levels of mercury. Here is an Australian website that talks about it - although we do have some different kinds of fish here than in the UK (and vice versa!) Have you kept all 6 HPTs? Grin

Has anyone tried raw ginger for MS? I did that last time when it got a bit unbearable, and it seemed to help (though perhaps it was just in my head?!) I'm definitely going to try drinking more water though RawChocolate, (if MS ever decides to rear it's ugly head) so thanks for the tip!

nandos · 10/04/2008 18:18

Mrs Mattie,
sry to hear u feeling soo sick.. maybe u can try Lemonade or some lemony drink? I heard lemon drink helps with MS and vomiting .

mibbes · 10/04/2008 19:20

Welcome new ladies Grin
OOh spew-envy continues over here Envy, although I have to admit it doesn't sound like much fun...
Thanks for the tips ladies - I have been knocking back greeen tea thinking it was safe, I thought there was only a trace of caffeine, maybe I'll cut back. I have binned the peppermint tea (even though it is actually recommended for MS in one of my books !) just in case..
Any more top tips to share ?

Nolda · 10/04/2008 19:30

Mibbes, if you're super over-anxious like me you could always go for what my family call "silver tea" that's hot water and milk - yup tea without the teabag!!!!Grin

kayzisexpecting · 10/04/2008 19:32

OOOHH New people!

Hello columboswife Congratulations. I have cut out coffee completely but only because it makes me feel sick. I did have a cup this morning though and it was gorgeous!!!

Eating carbs is meant to be great for MS.

We told the MIL today. She isn't happy at all and says we cant afford a baby even though dh earns a lot more than he did when I was expecting ds.

kutilputil · 10/04/2008 19:47

hey Kayz, are you tellin me about the coffee!I dont drink coffee and am a crazy tea drinker, but just like last time i have completely gone off tea and feel quiet sick at the thought but the cooffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i had a luvly cuppa this morning and it was so good!shame its bad for me thoughSadlol

Verso · 10/04/2008 19:47

That's a bit harsh of your MIL, kayz! Angry. I really don't understand how people can say such things!

Hello to any newbies!

kayzisexpecting · 10/04/2008 19:49

I know. I did have a few coffees with ds.

Coffee normally makes me sick when I'm pg. I was so happy this morning when it didn't make me feel sick.
