Tyaca glad you are safely home and you got your little ginger bundle of joy! Can't wait to see pics of little Esther. V impressed with clean house and stew etc and also very .

Had a bad start to the day, blazing row with DH over his inability to hear that all 3 children were crying at 6:45am and I was struggling to sort them out while he lay in bed (again). Better now tho.

Off to offer advice to lady who has just found out she is having twins and she has an 18 month old already - I feel USEFUL!

Tyaca its great to hear from you and just great that you and esther are home safely xx Don't worry about her being small, she'll soon chunk up honest xx

Jay and princess any more developments with you two? And we are in for some bad weather tonight, just in time for two new babies

Who is having your Dc's for you both?

Ds2 slept from 8 till 1.30am last night!!
Maybe it was the near-on continuous feeding for several hours at tea time

leesmum · 09/03/2008 15:15

OOHH its very quiet on here today...babies are arriving hopefully?

bovrilsarnies · 09/03/2008 16:03

Wishing you more labour vibes Jay and Princess!!

Just popped on to put a couple of photo's on of baby Seren. she's so cute (I'm obviously biased tho'!!)
Off to visit the inlaws now, will check in later to see if any more babies have arrived!!

Egg · 09/03/2008 16:07

You might be biased but you're not wrong! She is very pretty! You are not exactly ugly yourself tho so not surprising. Love the top pic where I think she is in daddy's arms.

Tis indeed quiet here today. I guess everyone is having family days. I am very very very tired. Not had opportunity for sleep. DTs not slept much today, unlike normally when they sleep too much. Maybe it means we will have a great night. Maybe not . At least it is Monday tomorrow, and in four Monday's time I will be taking ALL THREE DCs to nursery for the day. Wooohoooo. Then I will go WILD all day (or probably sleep).

Well done Tyaca - congratulations! And all the best Jay and Princess...I'm finding it so hard to believe that we still have some pregnant ladies...it must be so frustrating so I hope that those contractions start soon!

We have had a terrible time...Daniel was admitted to hospital last Friday with a temperature and inconsolable and was diagnosed as having strep b He had to have a week of iv antibiotics in hospital and we weren't allowed out till this Friday - very, very scary! Apparently if not treated, it can turn into meningitis (the big M) and we were incredibly blessed to have caught it so soon. He's fine now but we are treating him with kid gloves and panicking over the slightest thing.

So beware! Temperature, inconsolable, not feeding - take note!

rozzyraspberry · 09/03/2008 17:28

Jo - that must have been really scary. My friends lo had strep but luckily they also caught that quickly as he lost a lot of weight post birth. He's now a very healthy 5 year old.

Egg - I really think men cannot hear the dc during the night! DH actually manages to sleep through at the moment with me putting my side light on a couple of times to feed lo. He doesn't actually cry much in the night he's just up for a feed and then if he doesn't settle back down quite quickly I've gotten into a bad habit of taking him into bed with me. Probably causing a lot of trouble for myself in the future but with 3 ds to look after it's a case of anything for a bit more sleep at the moment.

Leesmum - like you I have around a stone to lose still . I went down a clothes size a couple of years ago so have some jeans and things which are a size bigger than my pre preg size which I'm now wearing. I do plan to get back down to my pre preg size but it is so nice to get normal clothes on - even if they're a bigger size than normal!!

Can't believe Andrew will be 4 weeks old tomorrow - it's gone so quickly. I'm still bleeding a little though which is a bit of a pain - I only bled for a couple of weeks after the first 2. I also think I've done my back passage a bit of an injury . I felt something pop when I was giving birth and I swear it took longer for me to push out a poo yesterday than it did to push lo out - sorry tmi but it's v painful - will have to mention it at my 6 week check.

Anyway - take care allxx

SallyInYorkshire · 09/03/2008 18:05

Hi everyone!
just checking in now things are a bit more on an even keel here... GOSH having a newborn is knackering!!!!
am strugling a bit with the breast feeding but hv actually v helpful and supportive.
today took DS out of the house for the FIRST TIME and it was great!!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 09/03/2008 18:18

Hi guys,

We are All good here, DH and i have been to the church today to a pre chrisening meeting, Rosie will be christened on April 20th so something to look forward to.

Hope everything is ok with you all

alkar · 09/03/2008 21:01

Congratulations to tyaca nice of your family to do all that for you

Checked your pics bovril, seren is very cute

Jo - well done for getting him checked out so fast, hope he's ok now

Still have a stone to lose here too. Still in maternity jeans as I dont really want to buy normal clothes in a bigger size. Its 6 weeks on thurs since DS was born so I'll start excercising then and will hopefully lose the extra weight although I could be kidding myself????????????

Thats a quick christening sarah the earliest we could get is the end of july!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 09/03/2008 21:04

Alkar- the Viacr could not belive how organised we are!!!(booked at 8days old)

He said we were very organised!!!!!

Hopefully it wil all go to plan!!!

Rosie will be 12 weeks so she will still be small enough to be passed around the guests and not have a care in the world about it!!!

(we had ds christed at 6months and it was slightly harder as he was in a real tight routine and didn't like change!!!lol)

ayrshirelolo · 09/03/2008 21:57

Hi guys, Tyaca delighted you are back home with Esther, enjoy havng things done for you! Just a quick pop in to say hi to all, still sending good contracting vibes to jaysthird and princess, don't you dare lurk! we need to know how it's going, even if it isn't, iykwim!! hugs to you both anyway! Bovril, she's gorgeous!! dh has promised to load all his phone photos on to PC for me to put on profile, but " hasn't got round to it yet" and all the good ones of both dds are on his phone, and i don't like to nag right now coz he's being fab..... might just have to work it out for myself!
Anyway, am currently writing this in bed, looking for the elusive early night (long story but dd1 was truly horrible last night, i'd swear my daughters were crying in shifts..... got about 2 hours sleep..... I'm too old for this nonsense!!!!) so will post properly tomorrow (after i've played with my new washing machine, yeah!!!) love to all, lolo x

omy · 09/03/2008 22:28

Jaysthird - thanks for the info re reflux. I have a forked out for a private breastfeeding consultant - she is coming tomorrow - she has already been a great help over the phone so here's hoping. Also I might try cranial osteopathy - anyone know a good one in london? Am using infacol - it is helping a bit.

Gingermumi - thanks for tip re winding - the cushion is a good idea. I can imagine how worrying it is for you re possible epilepsy - at least you have the a consultant on the case.

Congratulations Tyaca!!! Love the understatement - ouch that hurt! How wonderful to come home to so much TLC. Enjoy your lovely LO xx

Jo - how worrying for you - so relieved all is well now.

Rozzy - I think I may have the same embarrasing problem as you - re back passage! It just feels different down there. Tho I have been rather rubbish at doing my pelvic floor exercises - I will try to do better!

Bovril - seren is so cute - and a lovely unusual name - where is it from?

princessllama · 09/03/2008 22:29

tyaca, glad your family are being fab, sounds almost worth giving birth for the clean house.
jo, will remember the symptoms in case, must have been really horrific for you to have to go through that.
bovril, the pics are great she's v pretty.
still here. had a routine check today for lo's heart rate and all fine. will get the verdict tomorrow on how long they'll let me go i suppose. i expect anything beyond thursday will be a bit of a battle, wednesday evening could be the night for the castor oil. i wonder how much longer my mum's patience will hold, she's kicking her heels waiting for the baby to arrive to look after dd.

princessllama · 09/03/2008 22:34

omy, i'm a cranial osteopath. i work at the osteopathic centre for children(occ). it's based just south of islington in clerkenwell. i can recomend you someone there or if that's too far, somewhere nearer to you. the occ is fab and recomended all the time by hv's and midwives. only downside is that reflux is only helped a bit by osteopathy but it all depends on what's causing the symptoms and it definitly helps a bit and is fab for colic and poor feeding/latching etc. let me know if you need tel no's etc

tyaca · 09/03/2008 22:36

weds for the budget, surely princess? everytime i hear about it, i always think of you and your lo.

just a hello - lots to say and catch up but am one handed ... gl for tomo princess and hiya to jay

AND HELLO TO ALL SO NICE TO KNOW U ALL HERE

tyaca · 09/03/2008 22:43

JO - that sounds orrible, so glad you're all home safe and sound and that you managed to get everything sorted before things got worse.

omy - really keen to find out how things go with bf consultant. pls let me know if she any good. am off to search thru feeding section of mn and check out some websites cause finding this v v dif and we basically on formula.

princessllama · 09/03/2008 22:52

hi tyaca, lovely to hear from you. the bf is a complete bugger, give up if it makes you feel too shite but remember to take one feed at a time, it can really improve eventually.
yes, the budget, am really feeling the pressure now. especially as only realised today that dh is meant to be reporting to the main man himself on wednesday. wish the mw's would stop asking me if i've tried sex though-really don't want to discuss it with them. was thinking today maybe it's just a huge myth made up by people with a silly sense of humour who think it's funny to persuade whale like exhausted pg women to get aerobic.

omy · 10/03/2008 07:08

Princess - thanks!! I would love a recommendation. I could probably get to clerkenwell - though west London would be easier. How many sessions does one usually need? I am not sure if it is reflux or just wind at the moment - hopefully the BF consultant will know .
So exciting for you that your babe will be here this week! Have the builders all packed up yet?

Tyaca - She was personally recommended and has been great so far on the phone. Her website is letsbreastfeed.com
I will tell you how it goes later today - I paid £150 (ouch!) but if it works it is worth it! BF can be wonderful! - though I have (on her recommendation) been giving LO a bottle of formula in the evenings when she is hungry but won't take the boob due to colic. It is so sweet to see DH feeding her!

omy · 10/03/2008 07:48

Egg - how exciting for you to have some time to yourself. What will you do?!

Pk616 · 10/03/2008 09:38

Hiya ladies!
Sorry I've not been here, I've been busy babymooning and making cups of tea for relentless visitors.
I hope everyone is doing well and happy
x

leesmum · 10/03/2008 10:14

Hiya Pk hun how ya doing? Are you loving motherhood? I've had a look at your pics and baby is gorgeous, and let the visitors make their own cuppa! xx

Bovril seren is very beautiful how are you coping with things?

Jo i'm so pleased your lo is ok now you must have been scared to death xx

Egg are the twins just going in nursery as a one-off or is it permanent? im very jealous that you will be a lady of leisure or will you be using the time to catch up on things at home?

Tyaca i agree with princess, don't be stressing about BF it isn't worth worrying about do whatever is best for you and baby, how is Esther?

All you first time mums it can be very overwhelming at first can't it, just go with the flow and enjoy your babies xxx

Princess any more twinges today? and can you ask your hubby to see if he can get a box of wine given to all mums as well as child benefit ta xx

Alkar when we get a post natal thread going we will all have a chance to share diet and exercise tips, it'll be easier if we all encourage each other i'm sure, and i really need to be reminded about pelvic floor exercises, if i cough or sneeze i have to brace myself so i don't piss my pants lol

I have my 6week check on thurs even though lo will be 8 weeks on sat, one of my midwives told me about a new contraceptive implant that lasts 3 years and is 100% safe, apparently you dont get ANY periods but its expensive and a lot of Gp's wont mention it for that reason, well i'm going to find out more

Egg · 10/03/2008 10:31

Morning all.

Jo so glad Daniel is ok, must have been absolutely terrifying. Am keeping a sharp eye on my babies now (not that I wasn't before ).

leesmum, DTs will be going one day a week on a probably permanent basis. DS1 goes on a Mon and Thurs and they will also go each Monday. Was saying to my friends on another thread that I feel a bit like one of those women who only has kids to send them to nursery but I honestly think it will preserve my sanity and means I can catch up on sleep, cleaning, shopping, chores, paperwork etc etc, will be nice for DS1 to know they are there too (he can see them over a low wall) and that they are not home with mummy having fun without him!

Had a shite morning but things are ok now. Nothing major just trying to rush to get everyone ready for nursery run, huge storms outside, wondering how we will get there in one piece. Just about to get coats on etc when DS2 has a poo. Change him and then just as I do the last popper up he projectiles his entire feed across himself and the floor (he did it last night as well).

Lucky I had not got round to steam cleaning the carpet yet.

Both babies have been angels since we got back from nursery though, and the delay while I cleaned him up meant the storm had passed finally (had been going for about 12 hours...) and it was sunny on the way to nursery!

Agh, missing the beginning of Phil n Fern! Back later.

Oh and hello PK long time no see. Glad you have been babymooning and all is well. Pics are lovely, little Kya looks like my little DD in the fourth pic down on your profile. She is goooorgeous of course!

Congrats Tyaca! Great name and a tiny wee baby....lucky girl - my Malcolm is a BIG boy in comparison by now. Has your community midwife been yet? They should be able to give you lots of support and encouragement with b/f. It's really sore isn't it? And looking back on how I was six short weeks ago it's just been a HUGE learning curve. Don't get despondant. I can get you a number for another bf counsellor who a friend of a friend swore by - think it is £80. Just can't quite find it the number at the mo but let me know if you'd like me to dig it out. If you fancy a chat you've got my number I think in an email or drop me an email.

Jo - glad to hear your l/o is ok - must have been a bit scary for you both.

Ginger - hope all's well with Toby - think I must have missed the beginning of this convo but best wishes that it's nothing serious.

Hi PK!! We've been missing our guru. Will have a look at your pics in a mo but don't want to stop writing and risk losing all my typing!

Having a rare morning of peace on the computer - we were going to go to a b/f group this morning but I got a bit scared by the weather (actually a handy excuse as have been up pretty much since 2 and have done a lot of dashing round recently so nice to stay at home and chill).

Malcolm has had his scabby scalp picked almost clean - took a long time and the house looked like a snowstorm had hit it [eeeuuwww emoticon]. We took him out for his first proper weekend outdoorsy walk around hampstead heath yesterday which he enjoyed although I spent the time sulking that my v expensive pac bag from Mamas and Papas doesn't shut when there's anything inside it

Hit Oxford St v early sat morning in the search for some new feelgood jeans. Found and bought the perfect pair - nice and flattering, perfect cut, size 6 in.... wait for it... TopShop Maternity. Ahem. As I told the girls there - it's not the fact they're MATERNITY - it's that the legs just sit right at the ends. This after squeezing my ass into size 12 in the main part of the shop that I was just too fat for so no-one blacklist me for the size 6 please!

Oh and spots - Malcolm's cleared up at 5 weeks completely - it's so nice when they're gone! Followed by cradle cap the nex day though. Fat, spotty, scabby, farty - a mother's love eh?

Egg · 10/03/2008 11:42

Hehe Gill I have TWO pairs of Blooming Marv maternity jeans that I live in. Size 8 . They are, in my opinion, just hipsters. They sit below the tummy and don't have an adjustable waist so I feel they are not really maternity .

DD is definitely less spotty and scabby now. DS2 is getting cradle cap on the back of his head now.

DS2 is huge. Getting big for some of his 0-3 month clothes. DD is still weeny and still in newborn clothes. She rarely eats more than 100ml, although did a whopping 160ml yesterday. Our 8 week check is on Weds. I have a loooong list of things to query.

Oh and are those of you with the older babies getting SMILES? I really don't get any/many and keep worrying about it. DS2 did a few at the weekend but DD really has never done a proper one. Having read the thread about the lady who gave up her disabled child and one of the first things she noticed was wrong was no smiling at 12 weeks, it makes me scared. Mine will be 9 weeks on Thurs. Or do I call them 6 weeks on Saturday as they were 3 weeks 2 days early? So blooming confusing.
