Just wondered how everyone is doing as September draws to a close? Missing hearing from you all.

My big boy has started nursery and is settling well. We’re hoping to be able to do a PGD cycle before Xmas for a summer baby next year. Please keep everything crossed for us.

@AnnieApple123 awww that has made my day 😊 So happy to see this! I hope you are feeling okay. Wishing you so much luck, I’m sure all will be fine 🤍 Please keep us updated on it all

Paintandpots · 05/07/2024 05:05

@AnnieApple123 congratulations and i hope everything is going well with the pregnancy.

I wanted to ask how your little boy is finding nursery, and how do you get him to go home when he is having or has had so much fun? Lol i envision my eldest will need to be carried home for the first few days at nursery - he starts in September. He loved the nursery space when he saw it. Toys and so on.

I've been wondering how everyone is getting on.

Anyone else missing having a full night of sleep?

overwork · 08/07/2024 17:58

We are nowhere near the full night of sleep part :(
Though he did do 9:30-4:30 last night which was heavenly. I'll feel betrayed if I don't get that again tonight!
Hope everyone is getting on well and getting more sleep.

Daisy155 · 16/07/2024 15:09

She sleeps all night but breastfeeds all night and I am exhausted :/ thankfully I have decided to stay at home and take care of her if I didn’t make this decision I don’t know what I would do and how I would function because I am constantly so tired from breastfeeding at night.

overwork · 27/08/2024 15:02

Is anyone else thinking about number 2 already? (I appreciate that for some of you your July 23 baby was no.2 or even maybe 3!). I never even wanted 1 baby but almost since the day I had him I've wanted another. Might not even be possible, my periods haven't returned yet and I'm pretty old...
@AnnieApple123 I really hope that you are having a wonderfully uneventful pregnancy x

CityKity · 27/08/2024 19:59

Hi @overwork so nice to see this thread pop up in my notifications again!
Now that DS is one he feels SO old to me, he’s such a little boy and not a tiny baby anymore, how the hell did that happen?! I have to say I do spend evenings looking a videos of him as a baby and get a little broody.
DH is campaigning for another 😅. I was made redundant during my maternity leave and am still job hunting, so can’t realistically consider it until I’m back in work and qualified for enhanced Mat leave pay. In theory I’d like to start trying again a year from now (when DS is around 2).
I‘ve had my second period (they came back after I night weaned) which does make me a bit nervous about TTC again. I’m not that young either so a bit anxious to get back into work and plan for number two more seriously.

overwork · 27/08/2024 20:21

I'm trying to remember the users names - was it you who was also house hunting? In which case the redundancy couldn't have come at a worse time. I'm sorry you've had extra stress at what should have been a lovely time!
I'd love to wait till 2, that sounds like a lovely age gap! I'd just be worried about waiting too long and missing the boat (I'm already 40).
How did night weaning go? Has it lead to him sleeping better? I'm coping fine with him waking up several times a night just now but I'm back to work in a week or two and I suspect it might be the tipping point!

BCxx · 27/08/2024 21:57

Hey, so lovely to see this thread anytime it pops up! My second is now 1 🥹 I feel like no matter how much I try to cling on to them being little it’s just getting away from me. I would love to have another, I’d have another few if I could I think 😂 but I don’t think we will, it was a bit risky with my section in the end and the risks just seem to be multiplied when you’ve already got two little people. It does play on my mind every day though!

Hope everyone is well and you are hanging in there @AnnieApple123

CityKity · 27/08/2024 22:40

@overwork yes I was house hunting, great memory! Yup redundancy was terrible timing for that but we’re actually due to complete/exchange in 4 weeks (ahhhhhh) so at least one thing is almost sorted.

I have to admit I did not think night weaning would work for DS, but it absolutely did. DS was feeding pretty much every 3hrs overnight (sometimes more) and one random Sunday he skipped a feed and slept 7ish hours straight which was the kick in the bum I needed to finally night wean (as he clearly didn’t need the milk). Night one DH went in to settle him by cuddling and rocking during his wake ups (took about 30-40mins to get him back to sleep). Night two, same as night one but DS settling in about 10mins at each wake up. Night 3 he started sleeping through! Clearly he got the message that milk isn’t coming so decided to sleep instead! I truly didn’t think it would work so well. That was at 11months and I wish we had tried sooner tbh. I was also coping totally fine with the wake ups (I’m pretty okay on little sleep), but I didn’t realise how freeing it would feel to not have the anxiety of clock watching thinking ‘oh I’ve only got 1.5hrs of sleep left before the next wake up’.

We do have the occasional wake up here and there now, but much better than 3 every single night! I hope it goes well for you if you give it a go. Good luck going back to work!

Daisy155 · 28/08/2024 02:01

@CityKity that’s brilliant to hear it worked out in the end and sorry to hear about the redundancy during this time!

I had a complicated pregnancy before this baby! So I have now closed the chapter it’s so sad I always wanted to have 3 or 4 kids

But I am happy with the 2 that I have for now I saw a pregnancy announcement and I had chills I definitely don’t want anymore babies lol

But my husband I think he would be happy with as many as we can! But he knows I am done now and respects my decision!

LS888 · 28/08/2024 08:12

Nice to see people back on the thread! We are hoping to conceive again soon after a MMC at 10 weeks in July this year. We were hoping for a small gap as I also feel that time isn’t on our side (I’m 38). I’m a bit scared of going through another miscarriage TBH. We have had two now and the anxiety is really hard to deal with. But we are tentatively trying this month - ovulation date will coincide with our holiday and my husbands birthday! Trying not to overthink so not ovulation testing etc at the moment but will perhaps do this in a few months if nothing has happened by then. We shall see!

overwork · 28/08/2024 18:53

Oh it's lovely to hear from you! Congratulations on the new house @CityKity you must be so relieved! We've sold our one bed but not found the next place and can't afford what we really want. We may go into rented for a bit though I keep being assured that there will be lots coming on in September!
I think it would be relaxing to know I was done. I've never wanted a baby before so it's a confusing feeling for me and hopefully one which will very much go away if we're lucky enough to have a second.
@LS888 I'm sorry to hear about your misscarriages, and having to get your hopes up all over again. You're very brave going for it again so quickly after your first baby and I hope the next attempt works out for you!

CityKity · 28/08/2024 19:53

@LS888 I’m so sorry about the miscarriages, I can’t even image the anxiety and nerves that you just have TTC, it’s definitely another factor putting me off TTC right now, is falling down this rabbit hole again. You’re very brave and I really hope it’s happens for you sooner rather than later 🤞.
@overwork we we’re in a very similar boat. We went into renting for a while in the area we hoped to upsize and it’s great because the house is just 10mins down the road so not a huge upheaval and made house veiwings very convenient. It’s not ideal going into a rental but I was very relieved to have sold our flat. What are your TTC plans btw? Are you going for it or just thinking about it atm?

I’m honestly so impressed by those of you TTC right now, my one year old is running me ragged!

overwork · 29/08/2024 10:08

@CityKity my periods haven't returned yet (I haven't night weaned, presumably they should when I do). I'm kind of relieved that they haven't, because age wise I think I should try ASAP but realistically I'm not ready to yet! Whilst physically I'm in better shape than I was when I conceived last time I'd like to feel fitter and stronger before trying again. Would make pregnancy and the newborn phase easier to deal with alongside a toddler (that's the plan anyway).
We have some viewings this weekend but I'm not convinced the right one is out there... yet!
