Buckets · 25/03/2008 17:16

Hi all
I'm having another boy! Scan was all totally normal, right for due dates etc and a sticky out bit between the legs LOL, sonographer said it was pretty undeniable.
Consultant was very devil may care about me having an elective so I'll be back at 36w to book it.

dizzydixies · 25/03/2008 17:19

yipee Buckets congratulations
glad all well, now lets talk names......................

physio went fine, nothing new or startling, the torso tubey-grip not my most attractive look though lol

TwilightSurfer · 25/03/2008 17:24

Good Job Ladies. Glad all the visits went well. Congrats on the BOY Buckets....the name Owen is still available.

OP posts:
FoghornLeghorn · 25/03/2008 19:12

Congrats Buckets

We also had our scan today - everything ishunky dory - will put a pic on profile.
We asked the sex but sonographer said she wouldn't like to say as she couldn't see clearly enough

dizzydixies · 25/03/2008 19:18

hi foggie, just posted on your other thread - glad all well with baby though

HazieAndBaby · 25/03/2008 19:22

Hiya everyone!! And a new hi to karney!

Was away practically the whole weekend, so I'm just catching up now! Good to hear everyone is fine and lots of good scan reports coming back. Only 6 days to go for me, yay! They don?t tell you the sex here, but not sure if we want to know to be honest. We have a 3d scan booked for the end of May, so have until then to think about it.

Have had a bit of a grumpy day (you?re in good company already karney!) - just hung up on a neep from Scottish Gas who wouldn't listen to me! I hate it when people hang up on me so I feel bad, but it was about my 5th call to them to try and sort out a bill and having to repeat myself each time is annoying enough, without having to do it an additional 3 times in the same call! Will call again tomorrow when I've calmed down a bit. Phew, venting done, normal service can now resume!

On the buggy front, I'm totally chickening out until the last possible minute, but understand I need to do it soon! I have no clue what to get, it's so confusing. I fancied the Jane Slalom Pro with the lie-flat car seat (think dizzy mentioned it) as a friend has it and I like the idea of the lie-flat option, but another friend told me that the car seat got a really bad safety write-up in Which? so I'm confused now! I also like the Silver Cross with the Linear Chassis - this one but in Pistachio, but don't know if it the car seat will go in the car or not as apparently you need a really long seat belt. DH needs to change his car before the baby gets here (currently has a 2 seater and they don't mix with babies!) so also need to wait on him before we can decide! Argh!!

Sorry to hear things aren?t so good with your mum dizzy, you?re having a bit of a rough time with everything lately. You still seem in good spirits though so yay to that! Check you back at the name game again! lol

Buckets, I?ve got spots on my chest and back too and it?s so annoying as I never normally get them anywhere! Guess, we just have to hang in there! Oh, and yay on your boy! Seems like there?ll be quite a few boys arriving here in the next 4 ?5mths!

Cheerfulvicky, I sympathise with the back pain. I broke my coccyx 10yrs ago and it never normally bothers me that much, but now I get out of chairs like a stiff old wifie and make that effort noise (kind of like ennngh!) as well!

Argh, sorry about the War and Peace post! Just wanted to make sure I got it all in before DH comes home and he complains about being neglected!

xx

HazieAndBaby · 25/03/2008 19:24

OMG, just looking at my post now and have to admit, it was a bit long, even by my standards! Sorry guys!

dizzydixies · 25/03/2008 19:25

Hazie - here, its on special at the glasgow pram centre!! am drooling over it but I wanted it in navy

silver cross

HazieAndBaby · 25/03/2008 19:30

I love the chassis too, but think this one looks a bit retro/80's for me!! None of the nice colours are ever on offer... Oh, another example of that, I saw a Quinny Buzz with £150 off if you bought the chassis bit and carrycot together but it was pink and orange which was really nice actually, but not really that great if the baby turns out to be boy-flavoured! I know he wouldn't know the difference but I would!

dizzydixies · 25/03/2008 19:34

hazie, am not sure if its the old or the new jane that got the bad write up - I loved ours and never had an issue with it. we subscribe to 'which' so I can have a look later once the girls are in bed

speaking of which dh is up there on his own so I'd better put in a bit of an effort on the mothering front

HazieAndBaby · 25/03/2008 19:41

I really like the Jane too and totally wanted it until then. My friend who has it loves it though. I'll let you get off then! Catch you later! xx

Shazza2002 · 25/03/2008 20:18

Thank you so much TS. I will send you an email now with the details. It is the ones you've linked to. My nephew had one that was bought back from holiday in the US by his nan. She then went again so got another, he has since lost the 1st one, so my sister is just in a panic incase she loses this one so you will be doing me a huge favour xx

Oooh pram talk again. Don't know if you saw before but I had contacted Silver Cross about the colours as I also liked the Navy but had a Navy pram last time so fancied something a bit different this time. They are bringing out a new range of colours April/May so chances are there should be some good deals on all the colours that are already out now

oopsacoconut · 25/03/2008 20:37

Hellooooo All

Sorry joined then dissapeared - my broadband and laptop have decided to have a love hate relationship - so until the nice man from the computer shop pops over it's going to be very random.

Having to work two overnights this week so sleep could be minimal with 2 sick kiddies to deal with!

On a chirpier note i got my 20 wk scan date through for the 10th April which is just over 2 weeks away I'm so excited but a little nervous having never got this far before and not knowing what to expect.

Sorry for the waffffffle.

P.s. on the pram fron t am currently loving this at mothercare - www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000T21SCS/sr=1-5/qid=1206477330/ref=sr_1_5/202-2025345-6604664?ie=UTF 8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42805041&mcb=core

TwilightSurfer · 25/03/2008 23:29

Shazza your blanket is ordered!! I'll keep you posted on it's scheduled arrival.

Question about prams...it seems most of you prefer the flat bed style, what are the benefits? It's not pratical for me but just wondered if there was a "baby" reason, is it better for the baby to travel laying flat??

Spagetti dinner tonight. This is the second night in a row that I've actually COOKED dinner. I made too much so called my uncle to come get a bit. HE LOVES MY SPAGETTI....I do too. I guess baby will be loopy this evening from all the garlic.

ConfusedAndLonely · 25/03/2008 23:45

i'm apologising in advance this is going to be all about me. I've changed my name in case DP checks thread (its unlikely but its not how i want him to find out)
i had what was meant to be a routine antenatal appt today. While i was there i mentioned that i felt like i was leaking. i then had an internal exam and she confirmed that i was. then had a scan, they said fluid levels were low but that they were ok at the moment. during the scan she also checked the blood flow. from me to placenta its fine, from placenta to baby there are "notches". apparently this means that its not flowing as smooth as it should be
i'm trying not to worry, Pip's kicking and seems active so thats comforting but apart from being given antibiotics i havent been given any advice about what i should be doing. i've done some reading tonight and drinking lots of water will help replenish fluids. sonographer said that taking asprin would help with the blood flow but the registrar said it wasn't necessary
i'm going to try and speak to my midwife tomorrow but she's so difficult to contact
DP is away at the moment and is oblivious to anything being wrong. he's back tomorrow night and i don't want him to be worrying about us while he's away. there's nothing he can do and no way he can come home early.
i just feel so lost...

TwilightSurfer · 26/03/2008 00:17

Okay confused I feel your pain. I'd be terrified. However, I do have good news. My neighbor had the low fluid level issue during her second pregnancy. Her DD is 4 now (just four months older than mine). She explained to me a few months ago the experience was nerve-racking but tolerable. She had to drink loads of water (which she claims she now hates). She had weekly scans to check fluid levels (remember I'm in the US). Towards the end she was told if the levels dropped below x-amount (I can't remember) she would have to have a c-section. She was able to carry to term. I hope this little bit of information gives you some peace this evening (or rather morning for you now).

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 26/03/2008 00:27

Oh and Confused...I know who you are but will keep your secret. I guess you were right to be worried as what you were experiencing was something afterall. I'll find out more from my neighbor if I can since her experience was ultimately a positive one.

OP posts:
ConfusedAndLonely · 26/03/2008 00:28

Hi TS, thanks for your reply, it helped to just type out what was happening but yes, all information is good information at the moment. i've stopped researching online, far too many scary stories out there. My friend also went through a similar thing but she was alot later (34 weeks) and she was given daily checks and loads of advice. I just feel like i was given a heap of bad news today and my next scan is in 4weeks time so i'm left on my own until then. i've left a message for midwife so hoping she'll call in the morning
Meanwhile baby's still kicking, i'm taking each kick from him in a positive way and that its him telling me he's ok
thanks again, it really helps knowing that someone's listening

TwilightSurfer · 26/03/2008 00:32

If necessary your baby can arrive at 32 weeks and be really healthy....that's only 10 weeks from now bascially. Lots of good can happen between now and then. Water is now your best friend.

OP posts:
ConfusedAndLonely · 26/03/2008 00:37

you made me smile, thank you
off to bed now
night
x

ps, once DP is back, I'll reveal who I am and thank you from real MN name

good night

OP posts:
Buckets · 26/03/2008 08:16

Thinking positive thoughts for you C&L. Let's hope your MW can pull some strings and try and get you another scan sooner to put you mind at ease.
Don't take more than one aspirin a day if you do decide to go for that.

dizzydixies · 26/03/2008 09:12

C&L what a worrying time for you, am so sorry you've had worrying news, especially when your DP isn't with you. Try not to worry and fret, babies are very resilient things, look at me, they didn't think I'd get this far and here I am. You're doing the right thing posting as people will be able to give you lots of encouraging support and advice.

Have you thought about starting a seperate thread on 'pregnancy' incase someone has been through something similar themselves?

DON'T read up on it on the internet, I did re my heavy bleeding and just about freaked myself out enough to be committed, it was the help, support and encouragement on here that got me through it.

If you can't get hold of community midwife today phone the ante-natal dept back and tell them you're still a bit unsure of what you should be doing and that it was too much information to take in all at once. Someone will phone you back and go through it all until you're happy. Have a think about what you want to ask in advance as well.

Time to rest up and look after yourself

lots of love and hugs for you at this time
xxx

Shazza2002 · 26/03/2008 09:29

Morning ladies

I have thanked TS on email but just want to say here how great she is. She has made my sister (would be nephew too if he was old enough to appreciate) very happy. Thanks again, some people are just too kind

Buckets - Good news about your scan, looks like ther boys are starting to come. Interesting as lately all babies I know that have been born are girls. I'm secretly hoping the boy trend continues, whilst I don't mind I'm about 51% hoping for a boy. Gonna see if I can spot any bits today

Foghorn - Good news about your scan too, although pretty annoying that they couldn't tell you the flavour. I think what everybody has said is right, they have to be sure to be able to tell you as people have been known to sue hospitals for getting it wrong. Have you decided whether to have a private scan or not?

Hope everybody else is having a good morning. My scan is this afternoon, excited and nervous at the same time x

Shazza2002 · 26/03/2008 09:32

Also, confusedandlonely, thinking of you. Understandably you are worried. Try not to read up too much as I find there are a lot more negative stories about these types of things than good stories IYSWIM. Hopefully you can get to sepak to midwife today and she will give you some advice. Re the water, if you can't stand it I know it sounds silly but even if you mix it with cordial or something it still counts so get it down you girl
