Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Buckets · 17/03/2008 13:12

I'm 18w+6 and my little guy doesn't seem to stop moving! Has been very busy in there for a couple of weeks really, sometimes even feel it even when I'm walking. Would already feel freaked if it went quiet for a day.
DH & I decided we ought to come up with a provisional name for each gender so we'll be able to say 'if you were a ... you would have been called...' We'd agreed on Kurt for a boy before I even got pg but last night DH pencilled in Nancy from our shortlist. Still have some other girl contenders but thought let's give our minds a rest until the scan (fingers crossed Kurt/Nancy is feeling extrovert).

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 13:24

lol Shazza about your come-back. I'm not quick enough to think of something good to say like that!

Buckets, Nancy is lovely. Have you been watching 'I'd Do Anything' perchance??

mummypud · 17/03/2008 13:26

buckets , Nancy is lovely, poo pooed by my hub early on though xx i felt movemrnts fairly early on and still feel them but they are not as strong as they were at this time with my dd, i know i shouldnt compare the two but its so hard not to! xx shazza you are lucky that you can think fast! i cantbelive people think its ok to ask something like that!

Shazza2002 · 17/03/2008 13:30

I am so excited for the people finding out about sex of baby, I want to know but equally want a surprise. But happy that I can share everybody else's news

TwilightSurfer · 17/03/2008 13:32

My baby movements have stalled...i think. Someone on one of the threads said during growth spurts the baby sleeps alot. I'm holding to that thought and wondering if what I feel occassionally is baby or bowel.

When we announced to folks we were pregnant it wasn't the words that hurt but the looks. I guess that's just to be expected when you concieve 15 days after a miscarriage.

How's the scan alittlebitshy?? Can't wait to hear your news.

OP posts:
Shazza2002 · 17/03/2008 13:38

Well to be honest, I had a warning about the comment.

With my 2 friends at work falling pregnant before me he asked them the same thing. 1st friend just laughed, she hadn't been trying long and doesn't get offended by much. But 2nd friend had been trying for 18 months so was really annoyed. So I kind of knew what was coming

longwayfromhome · 17/03/2008 13:46

Ticondaroga (current working title for baby longwayfromhome I think that it is a town in the US? ... still no sign of any agreement on actual names) has been kicking for a couple of weeks now. Pretty sure that they are kicks as my bowels have never felt like this ...

Especially in the evening when DH is home from work and we are sitting down on the sofa. DH has a niece of about 9 months and she cries whenever she sees him, so we are laughing that these kicks are the same reaction from the baby.

Buckets · 17/03/2008 13:51

LOL actually Oliver is my most hated of musicals so that's a negative against Nancy!

In defence of Shazza's colleague, I think people probably ask questions about ttc because a longed for baby is more romantic notion than a 'whoops', they want to be extra pleased for you. Obviously, once the baby comes out you can't tell. I tell everyone that DS and this one have been gatecrashers, it doesn't matter in the long run, just makes me look a bit thick about contraception LOL.

Buckets · 17/03/2008 13:53

Also he may know a lot about ttc himself...

miamla · 17/03/2008 13:54

so how many of us have got Next jeans? i've lived in mine!

VG.. you certainly like to set a girl a challenge.. I accept! drop me an email at m i a m l a @ h o t m a i l . c o m
amd we cam have a proper chat about it (didn't think you'd really want your measurements discussed on a public forum!)
And what lovely news that your DS is happy. Sounds like he'll make a lovely big brother

Dizzy. thank you thank you thank you! i suggested Frederick to DP weeks ago and he didn't like it but when i read out
your list he put it back on our possibles! Your list was definitely on teh right lines though... you've got the male
version of my name on there, DP's name and both of our fathers!
We like Sebastian but not Seb. also like Benjamin but not Ben.
Our current favourite nickname is "Milo" but we can't work out a longer version
So you're doing very well...keep up the good work!

buckets did you manage to get something for your migraine? i thought i was coming out in sympathy with you on sunday
but fortunately it stopped before too bad

CC you've certainly got a good one there...cleans up vomit without being asked?! brilliant!

TS how's your daughter doing today?

There really are alot of DCs on here feeling poorly. How do we stop the bugs spreading?!

comments..
worst response i got was from a colleague... "are you keeping it?" i obviously replies yes. her reaction "f**k, puts a whole load of extra work on me"
as for DMs.mine keeps telling me to stop sticking my tummy out! i'm really not! i have a baby inside me and he's making
me a little more round than i used to be!

a little girl on the bus asked her mum why that lady over there has got a balloon under her top!

oh and this is pinched from Jo Brand but if people ask "do you know what it is?" her reply was "no, but if its a crocodile
we're going to call him Snappy" I used it last week and raised a giggle!

mummypud Pip seems most active late evening (or during the day if i drink a cappucino!) Had a really strong kick last
night and DPs hand was already on my tummy so we felt it together. The movements have been alot more feelable (is this
even a word!) over the last few days (I'm 21 weeks tomorrow)

ALBS sending lots of healthy scan thoughts and hugs your way x

Buckets · 17/03/2008 13:58

Yay, got prescribed cocodamol and a stomach settling thing (haven't looked at the packet yet) this morning. 1hr in wiating room with nutty 3yr old, was surprisingly patient bless him.

Milo's lovely, it's a real name in it's own right isn't it? V European.

TwilightSurfer · 17/03/2008 14:04

Milo is wonderful. I know someone who just had a baby last month and named him Milo. She has a DD name Maya.

Miamla, DD is wonderful. Thanks for asking. You'd never know she's been ill.

Didn't I just say my baby's been still...just got three little kicks. She must know I'm talking about her.

OP posts:
miamla · 17/03/2008 14:19

is Milo a "proper" name? we thought it was just a nickname. Shouldn't baby have a sensible name for when he's older? (sorry thinking aloud!)

pleased to hear the end is nigh for your migraine Buckets. Unless someone has had one themself, people don't seem to understand that no, its not just a headache!

Pip always seems to kick me when i'm talking about him too! especially when on the phone to MIL, she of course is chuffed at the early influence she's having!

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 14:24

My DS has a friend at nursery called Milo (pronounced meelo not mylo as in the Tweenies). I think his parents are Dutch...?

miamla · 17/03/2008 14:29

is it a character in the Tweenies? perhaps its best avoided then!

poppysocks · 17/03/2008 14:33

Afternoon all!

What a lot of chat I've missed in a couple of days away. Sorry to hear of all the ill DCs. Mine's been fine (touch wood!), but is currently refusing to have her usual nap - a habit that I am going to resist her breaking with all I can - at least until the new one has arrived and is settled. If I don't get a break in the middle of the day with one I go insane, let alone two...

Milo is a great name. I'd love to use it but our surname is French, so it would all get very confused in a sort of pan-European way!

Hope all's going/gone well with the scan ALBS.

Reactions to this pregnancy have been much better than last time. We'd just got engaged (after 8 years together so not exactly a new relationship!) when we found out last time so there was lots of chuntering about shotguns (genuinely we had got engaged first) and babies born out of wedlock as we refused to bring the wedding forward. My mother wasn't amused to be done out of a big wedding.

This time I was really looking forward to people just being pleased, which they have been, but many not that excited. Just a sort of 'well, you've had one, of course you were going to have another' attitude, which was disappointing as I think it's a little miracle! Only rather disconcerting one was a chap I work with who asked exactly when the baby was conceived!!

Shazza2002 · 17/03/2008 14:36

You could be right about my collegue buckets, although I do remember a conversation once where he said he made 3 babies in 60 minutes. He has 3 children so I'm presuming he means they took 20 minutes each. Also to be honest the reason I was so short at the time with him was he really bugs me. He has 3 teenage children which I agree must be a handful but he never talks about them in a postive way, and he says babies and toddlers are a PITA. So I asked him why did he have children? His response was cause he didn't want to be old and on his own Which to be honest is partly a reason for me too, but I also happen to love babies and children and want to be a mother.

Anyway, enough about me ranting on.

Anybody else getting hungrier?

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 14:38

And you didn't give him an hour:minute:second answer Poppysocks?!

It IS a miracle! When you've had one it's even more suprising that you're happy to go through the whole experience again and have time to do the sex . We should get more credit!!

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 14:40

Shazza, I'm hungrier, but then when I start eating I'm full within a couple of mouthfuls. Didn't stop me wellying down a Cadbury's Creme Egg after my lunch tho'

mummypud · 17/03/2008 14:45

ooooooooh creme eggs.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx my foods of choice at the mo are colliers cheese [strong and tangy] and hot cross buns all though not at the same time x

EButters · 17/03/2008 15:03

Hey Poppysocks (!?) it's your D sister diverting from due november!!! Where on earth did you get that nickname from??? Speak to you later, E X

poppysocks · 17/03/2008 15:11

I have a stalker have I?! The ridiculous nickname with no connection to anything whatsoever was supposed to aid anonymity. Never mind... Now get back over to your November thread!!! Will give you a ring in a bit.

Oh no mummypud, hot cross buns WITH nice strong cheese are great too. A def. fave here.

Creme eggs going down v. easily here too. In fact was congratulating myself yesterday on both pgs straddling Easter for maximum mini eggs/ creme eggs guzzling opportunities!

miamla · 17/03/2008 15:11

i'm eating like an absolute pig! i don't ever seem to feel full....

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 15:11

Is that your surname too Poppysocks? I love butter...

PetitFilou1 · 17/03/2008 15:13

Hello all
Re the 'was it planned' comments - I've had one(or two) of those if you count my big boss's remark 'Congratulations ......I assume you want congratulations' !!!

Feeling a bit sensitive today as bp is 128/84 and for me, antenatal bp is usually more like something over 70. If the diastolic pressure goes over 90 they will consider treating me for hypertension (this is the second bp I've had around this level) Actually what I need is rest, a normal husband, not to be moving house, and some respite from the dcs. Not going to get any of those things though am I?!

If anyone has any failsafe recommendations as to how to relax I'd love to hear them. I am VERY stressed at the moment.
