Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CaptainCaveman · 16/03/2008 21:36

Well if I am not currently the size of a heifer I will be come August! I've eaten so much crap today.....ho hum. If you can't enjoy it when pg then when can you?

Ds just gone to bed (due to late nap today). I'm off to bed too shortly. Hope you all have a nice peaceful night sleep and a lovely week ahead.

TwilightSurfer · 16/03/2008 22:15

VG I'm with you on the tops. We just need something "normal" for the big days.

I am jumping for joy as DD has just had her first normal poop in dddaaayyysss. YEAH!!

Have researched my pain and think it's a sacral plexus thing (that's the hip connection). Will be phoning OB/GYN in the morning.

Happy Early St. Patrick's Day!!!

OP posts:
libbyssister · 17/03/2008 09:47

Morning everyone.

VG - I got some two natty little tops in H&M at the weekend. They are maternity tops, with ample room for bump, but empire line band under your boobs so you get a bit of boob/bump separation. And the best thing is that they are also nursing tops so if you try bf they have this peep-hole bra thing going on underneath! Difficult to explain and sounds hideous but is actually nicely done and I never found anything that discreet with DS1, I just used to flash the puppies I got home and tried them on for DH, while flashing the peep-holes every now and then (with a bra on!). It made DS laugh anyway! Best thing is, they're only a tenner!

Anyone else getting some classic responses when they break the news to people. My best so far:

"Nooooo" [the way the Teletubbies do when they're meant to be saying goodbye] and then ran away (DS)
"I thought you weren't having any more"
"Another little hero?" (bleeeurrghhh, FIL obviously isn't bracing himself for a girl...)
"Well we could see you were getting more overweight lately" (my own DM. I'm a size 14 btw)

Why can't people just say Congratulations FFS?

VintageGardenia · 17/03/2008 10:10

We have bank hol here today so might slip off to H&M and check them out.

Some reactions I have had:

"Were you surprised?" (girl at work)
"Was it planned?" (girl at work)
"So am I!" (girl at work)

LOL

VintageGardenia · 17/03/2008 10:24

Well to be precise my reactions TO those reactions were

FFS
FFS
LOL

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 10:28

So you do! Happy St Patricks Day VG!

The tops are mainly in black/white or beige/cream (some are organic cotton). They do also have some nice stripey tops which come with a matching babygro for the LO but I don't think I could pull that off! It would like MiniMe was sat on your lap

My DM also said:

"Where are you going to put it?" (we live in a 3-bed house??)
and when I said about finding out the sex: "Well in my day we had to wait until the thing came out"

Thing?! THING??!!! My baby isn't a THING!

(and breathe)

mummypud · 17/03/2008 10:29

Morning all xx hope you are all well , just wonderin how much movement everyone is feeling?xx

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 10:34

Hi mummypud, thanks for the diversion, I was starting to steam

I'm 17 weeks and I'm getting little bumps every now and then. Maybe a couple of times a day. Not much and not very strong.

You?

VintageGardenia · 17/03/2008 10:36

"...until the thing came out..." I would either have been in fury or in tears at that.

I got very emotional at the nuchal fold scan, where the orrible doctor said "I'll soon be able to see if there's anything wrong with this one" and I had my first wave of hormonal anger thinking if you DARE to pronounce on my baby I will shove that ultrasound mike up your arse. I was leaking tears then the whole way through and at the end she said "You seem upset - is it because you have a full bladder?"

At which point DP pinned my arms to my sides and wrestled me out of the room uttering "soothing" words.

VintageGardenia · 17/03/2008 10:38

Hi m-pud, I am 20+5 and only occasionally feel a flutter and when I start to concentrate on it, it goes .

When I told DS about the baby he asked me if I had any vibrations!

alittlebitshy · 17/03/2008 10:39

lol libbyssister you;ve had some good responses there

Will catch up later - am too nervous now. Got my 20 week scan in just over an hour and petrified of something being wrong......

Thinking positive (ish) while shaking like a leaf
xx

VintageGardenia · 17/03/2008 10:42

ALBS here is the luck of the Irish for you. Let us know later? xxx

VintageGardenia · 17/03/2008 10:44

Why are my links always wrong?

here is some more luck.

alittlebitshy · 17/03/2008 10:46

thanks

VintageShamrock · 17/03/2008 10:48

Oh ALBS I know it's easy for other people to say but keep your heart up. More than likely everything will be absolutely fine, and if there is anything out of the ordinary it is still your baby in there. But the odds are everything will be fine. Hope your dh or someone else will be with you to hold your hand. Will be thinking of you all morning.

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 11:03

VG - well done for not lashing out, but I don't know how you managed it! What a rubbish doc!

Try not to worry ALBS. Good luck. We'll be thinking of you. Hope you come back all giddy later and share news with us! Are you going to try and find out the sex?

mummypud · 17/03/2008 11:36

sorry all , i butted into a conversation there ! i was having a lazy moment . i shall return when i have caught up !xxx

mummypud · 17/03/2008 11:41

A little bit shy hope all goes well with your scan , im sure it will xxx i feel the same with my 20 week scan next week , i have gone from worrying about miscarriage to the next worry! i am sure it is a common thing.xxxx libbyssister that is awful mums can be a tad insensative i think! they froget that when they had children things were very diferent , i have had comments like oh welll i managed etc, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 11:55

I just have to remember that my DM can be old and crabby! And that in 25 years time my LO will be saying the same thing

VintageShamrock · 17/03/2008 11:59

m-pud don't be silly re. butting, there is no "butting in" here

Shazza2002 · 17/03/2008 11:59

Morning ladies. Well nearly afternoon which means it's nearly lunchtime. Anybody else starving ?

Yay 20+1 today, very excited at being halfway.

On movements. Have felt flutters for a few weeks and they are starting to get stronger. But mainly happening just at night, I hope that will change once baby is here!

ALBS - Wishing you luck for the scan. can't wait to hear back from you xxx

VG - Very impressed that you kept your tongue. I would have lashed out and said that maybe he had touched a nerve or something and that's what caused the reaction

Libbysisters - My dad is worse than my mum. He has quite a large belly that is very rounded, much like a pregnant woman at around 8 months. He keeps trying to tell me I'm nearly as big as him. No effing way, well not yet

VintageShamrock · 17/03/2008 12:01

TS great to hear dd's tum is getting back to normal. Good luck with your doc today, hope you will get more reassurance. Sun is splitting the stones putting in a timid appearance here so off to walk, walk, walk.

libbyssister · 17/03/2008 12:02

Ha ha Shazza - you gotta laugh at their cute comments

CaptainCaveman · 17/03/2008 12:48

Hoping all went well with your scan albs - can't wait to hear back!

Not feeling too much movement here - a little bit every day but only brief. Had awful dreams last night where I felt really distressed but can't remember why!

Still feels like AGES til anomoly scan - 3 weeks today. Am now 18+4.

I think I've had positive responses to announcing the pg, but one or two have asked if it was planned!! Why not just ask "So, did you use contraception when you had sex?". Cheeky buggers.

Shazza2002 · 17/03/2008 12:53

I also think people asking if it was planned is pretty rude. Ok so for some people it is an accident but doen't mean once they've got use to the idea they want it more/less than the person that planned it.

Conversation with some man at work when I announced my news;

Me "Yes I'm having a baby, due in August"
Man "Oh that's good news, was it planned?"
Me "Yes"
Man "How long were you trying?"
Me "Is that including foreplay?"
Man - very nervous laugh and not knowing where to put his face.

What a bloody rude question that is, more so than the Was it planned? one. As far as he knew I could have been trying for years and it be a very difficult subject, as it happens I was very lucky and wasn't which is why I could come back with such an answer. But how bloody rude and ignorant
