HOORAY
DD doesn't have anything funny in her stool and she no longer has bad stuff in her urine. Doc took her off her antibiotic completely with the words, "you need a break." We have instructions to steer clear of lactose stuff for a few days (purchased soy products on the drive home). I could not be happier. YEAH I was wondering when some sunshine would reenter our lives!!!

Welcome Graysongirl!!

Will be sneaking out shortly (after a little snooze) to find some more baby things to add to my hidden stash. Found that one local store carriers those Ergo Baby Carriers which makes me VERY happy. At the moment though I'm stock piling one at a time my favorite baby bottles, only in the color purple....don't ask why . I'll try to nurse but prefer to be prepared for having same issues as last time.

I'm skipping yoga tomorrow!! I need to give my body a day off and DH agrees. He said he'd play primary caregiver for the rest of the weekend. WHAT A GUY!!

great news TS hope she's on top form soon

VintageGardenia · 15/03/2008 18:19

Hi all, you've been busy on the thread! Am going to get a cup of Earl G. and settle down for a catch-up. Have been crazily busy this week with work by day and ents by night, so have not kept up to speed but I do see at a glance that all is well with dizzy and that we have some gender identification and some new faces (or new names should I say). Seems that all is well apart from Ilana with house problems and LoW cooking incidents. Will post properly soon. Love to all.

longwayfromhome · 15/03/2008 18:31

Cabin beds, did you try John Lewis? www.johnlewis.com/10783/Range.aspx

I remember having one when I was a kid and thinking that it was great. Oh, but I´m going to be a mum now. Oh. Funny thought.

Anyway. Back to names. Still thinking about the list. Again, many thanks. Nico has been ruled out by DH, and Paloma for a girl I like (it means dove) but DH´s comment was "sounds very Spanish". Hum.

DH and FIL are being very "rah we are men" and using a power drill to hang pictures, otherwise a nice day and nice weather here.

IlanaK and TwilightSurfer: sorry to hear that you have both been having tough times, with lots of sympathy and thoughts. Greetings to all hello to everyone new here.

CaptainCaveman · 15/03/2008 18:39

Welcome welcome welcome Graysongirl! Nice to have you join us too. The only bit of advice you need - don't ever take krispy kreme donuts away from dizzy

Talking of you dizzy, thanks for those links, I love the M&S bed.....>
I also like this bed

TS thats great news about your dd, and great news that dh will take care of her to give you a break.

It's currently peeing it down, dh has just been dispatched to pick up the take away curry (yum!). See, I'm learning from LOW, NO COOKING aloud.

CaptainCaveman · 15/03/2008 18:42

ALBS, glad you like the jeans. Like most good jeans, they stretch as you wear them so won't stay tight for long. Is it ok for me to bank the cheque on Monday?
x

alittlebitshy · 15/03/2008 18:44

captaincaveman Yes please do bank the cheque. I've worn them all day so there's no taking them back now!

Thanks so so much for getting them and sending them to me

IlanaK · 15/03/2008 18:48

Anyone else suddenly feeling really pregnant? Today I feel huge and just really pregnant. I am only 21 weeks on MOnday so dread to think what it will get like!

Captaincaveman - we have a fantastic cabin bed that I want to recommend to you! When ds1 was little, we had it as a classic cabin bed height. When ds2 got old enough, it converted to a semi-high sleeper with room for a bed underneath for ds2. You can have it as a classic bunkbed position, or if you have space like us, the underbed sticks out. It is from Flexa and it IS pricey, but what attracted us was the flexibility. Each bed can be converted back to a normal single bed, or into cabin, semi high or high sleeper. If you are having more than one child, the flexibility is great. Also, the quality is excellent.

Graysongirl - welcome! I am onto number 3 if you want product advice.

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 18:52

omg, if anyone had to take my blood pressure today - thank god its the final of the six nations, I can't take much more lol

longway you're very welcome for the list, I still have to do some for someone, must check back and see - is it a Spanish name you want or something that can be used in both spain and uk - I did a spanish name search for you but ones that would be recognisable in uk - if that makes sense?!?

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 18:54

IlanaK I haven't forgotten about the list I've promised you - will be posting it very soon xx

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 18:55

IlanaK ignore me, I meant to say I'd done yours and longwayfromhome's list and its maimlas I still have to do

CaptainCaveman · 15/03/2008 20:49

Thanks for the info on beds IlanaK - they do look very good!

I just got out the bath with ds and dh came upstairs and said "you're going to be much bigger with this one than you were with ds". I already look as pg now as I did at 30 weeks last time . Well, ds was only a tiddler at 5lb7oz.

And poor ds, was saying his tummy hurt him whilst we were in the bath so we got out without having a play. Dh came upstairs with medicine for ds (not just to tell me how pg I look naked!), and just before we spoon the medicine into his mouth he spewed everywhere - excellently caught in a towel by dh! 10 mins later, he spewed again, all over his bedroom floor and dh got the disinfectant out and cleaned it all up whilst I sorted ds out - without being asked . Think I'll have a lie down to get over that display of kindness. Of course, I thanked him profusely, I'm still in shock that he just did that....and i didn't have to ask him!!

dizzychixies · 15/03/2008 21:16

oh no CC poor ds but gold star Mr Caveman, we like a man thats not afraid of vomit lol

dizzychixies · 15/03/2008 21:24

do you like my new eastername by the way

TwilightSurfer · 16/03/2008 01:22

Oh Captain so sorry about DS. What are we passing around to our children on this thread?? Seems something's coming out of somewhere for someone everyday.

New Doo now a new name, DizzyChixies are you turning into a butterfly? I look forward to the complete transformation.

Okay here's one for the masses: Glute Pain
My rear cheek muscles feel like I've run a marathon but I've done nothing of the sort. Getting up and down has become an issue throughout the day. What on earth? Again I feel pelvic pressure but that's happened with all my recent growth spurts. I've no experience with this type of pain (soreness). Any insights??

OP posts:
hedonia · 16/03/2008 01:24

age basically

hedonia · 16/03/2008 01:25

i have aches and pains every day and I'm only 41

Buckets · 16/03/2008 11:29

Well I'm now on migraine#3 ( 6am I had to call in and cancel my shift, feel even more rotten about that!) It's easing off now - will def pop to GP's walk-in clinic tomorrow and see if they'll prescribe codeine as we all know how useless paracetamol is.

I too am looking for a midi/cabin bed but am just checking Ebay every week for what's less than 25miles away. Moving DS into the smallest room as boys don't really need hanging space do they?

CaptainCaveman · 16/03/2008 15:17

TS I had to have a little titter at your 'arse ache' - although of course, it isn't remotely funny. No such pains in the arse for me....

Ds seems a bit better - no more vomiting - just tired out today, doesnt'really want to play. He sat on my lap during church, until it was time to do gluing and sticking in sunday school! WE made a lovely big pink flag for Palm Sunday. He's currently fast asleep.

We bought a midi bed from furniture village today - got to wait 4 weeks now for it to be ready.....I'm sooo impatient.

Think I'll go and join ds on the sofa, and eat some chocolate too!

CaptainCaveman · 16/03/2008 15:18

Hope you get something for your headaches Buckets - praying today's bad head clears up soon for you.

CaptainCaveman · 16/03/2008 18:00

Ahhhhh, that was a nice hours kip I got!

TwilightSurfer · 16/03/2008 18:31

Captain, you are right. It is a funny problem. I can honestly say this pregnancy is a PAIN in the . Doesn't hurt so bad today but walking isn't at the top of my list of wants...it's just uncomfortable. This is what I expect 90 years old to feel like.

Finally got to go out for a bit alone this morning. Found another bottle to add to my mini collection. Stores carry the brand and style I like but just not the color. Picky Picky Picky I am.

Got some scary news about DD late last night. The on-call doctor phoned at 10:30PM to say the last labs came back and she has issues that have to be addressed immediately. Freaked me out. Seems the antibiotic killed off the good tummy things and allowed bad tummy things to grow, effecting her colon. Not something a pregnant lady takes well that late at night. So we were off to the all night drugist for meds that I wasn't able to get into her till this morning....she's not a good medicine taker. I think it's already working. You'd never know anything was wrong with her. She's chatting and playing up a storm....and eating (all good signs).

VintageGardenia · 16/03/2008 18:37

Hi there,

dizzy hope your visitors arrived with required goodies and that you managed to pretend you were pleased to see your friends rather than their Mars crispies!

Cap'n I was napping with you there! Nothing like a Miss Marple film of a Sunday afternoon to send me off.

TS sorry to hear of arse ache, I've not heard of this as a symptom before (not that I am very well up on these things) - possibly an injury sustained during yoga? Seems unlikely though. Hope it clears for you.

ALBS how nice to be in your new jeans! I have not worn mine yet, stubbornly sticking to my normals but getting sick of undoing the button at 4pm every day. It's tops that are going to be my problem I think, bottom are easy enough but the floaty gyspy look tops just make me look as if I'm wearing a marquee.

MiaMia we might open a little dialogue about tops??? Something that

  1. flatters the boobs which are unable to wear an underwired bra and in maternity bras just look like sort of lumpen loaves
  2. skims the "waist" fast disappearing
  3. doesn't draw attn. to the bump while fitting around it
  4. is long enough not to show great patches of bare hip or back when I stretch / crouch / crawl under beds etc
  5. is fabulous, spring / summery / goes with everything!

Any ideas? I will happily commission, and pay top dollar!

My main news is telling ds about the baby! And he is delighted and quite excited and spent ages yesterday wanting to discuss names. As he is 9 it's a big gap, and I was a bit apprehensive about his reaction but I am so relieved and happy that he likes the idea of brotherhood. He's gone off skiiing for a week now so he will be able to chat to his dad about it if he wants to, without being in the spotlight and me sneaking up behind him all the time and muttering oh are you all right with the news??

We are a four-dog household this weekend - till Tue - so will be celebrating St Patrick's Day up to our knees in muddy pawprints and lick. Be the hokey, the best of Oirish luck to yiz all - or similar toe-curling comedy Irish blessings.

VintageGardenia · 16/03/2008 18:42

Cross post with you there TS (I was typing so much!) - bad news on your dd. My understanding of how antibiotics work is that they reef through everything indiscriminately, so you lose all the good gut stuff while killing the bad. I haven't heard of your sitch - killing good while preserving bad. Your dd is still quite small, anything like that would wipe her out, so poor all of you, but sounds as if you have her under close supervision & in good medical care so with luck she will manage to shake it off & get back to her normal self & eating habits as soon as poss.
