Shazza2002 · 14/03/2008 12:47

To the ladies who are suffering from the pains. I have had them too but have put them down to wind to be honest It can be so painful but definitely goes away after a poo or a good fart!

libbyssister · 14/03/2008 13:00

OK, I might just have a full on moan now. So there's the itching, and now I've got indigestion after my lunch, and I generally feel as if someone (mmm guess who) is squeezing my lungs up into a tiny space. And I've got pins and needles in my leg.

I mean, if I feel like this now, how the hell is it going to be at 38 weeks in high summer? Arrrrggh!

I want to go home and have a nice bath.

Booooooooooooooo

Can someone tell me a joke? Make me smile?

libbyssister · 14/03/2008 13:01

And another thing? Where is Twilight? I miss her!

alittlebitshy · 14/03/2008 13:41

captaincaveman no parcel yet
was out when post came but there was no card to say they'd attenpted delivery. Am hoping it went to a neighbour or something, but then again I don;t know my neighbours v well, so .

grr

IlanaK · 14/03/2008 13:57

I have come off the high I was on yesterday in having the scan and finding out the sex to a really sh*tty day and I need a moan. It is a bit long and involved, but I have to move out of my flat for 4 months just 4 weeks before the baby is born due to pipework rennovations in my building. The timing is terrible, but I have come to terms with it all and we are moving in with my mum.

Today, I have found out that multiple people have messed up and not realised that the work that is just started on some flats including one that borders our kitchen will affect us. Sometime in the next couple of weeks the water andwaste in our kitchen will be cut off for 4 weeks. We can't move out twice (major upheaval for both us and my mother) so have no idea what to do now. Contractors say its no problem as we still have water to our bathrooms.

I have two boys, laundry everyday, cooking three times a day etc. I have no idea what to do!

Ok, moan over. I just worry about how the stress will affect the baby.

libbyssister · 14/03/2008 14:08

Time to go on a v.v.v.v. long holiday IlanaK. Sounds horrid. Maybe it won't be so bad once it starts? The feeling of 'blitz spirit' might kick in?!?

Ok, I'm clutching at straws....

IlanaK · 14/03/2008 14:15

Can't go on holiday - we have already booked a week in May and dh works so can't take 4 weeks off - not if I want him to have any time off after the baby.

miamla · 14/03/2008 14:16

IlanaK both of your posts could have been posted by me! we had our scan on wednesday, was fantastic seeing Pip, we had a scare with the heart but her colleague popped in and seemed to think everything was ok.

do you have any friends locally who could help with the laundry? or could you visit your mum at the weekends? failing that give the boys a bath each evening, leaving their clothes on and adding in any other laundry you've got. add soap powder and get ths kids to see how much they can churn the water round the bath.
if nothing else, we can't stress at the moment.easier said than done but could you give DP the job of finding a solution. you never know, he might come up with something!

but again, same as you, the high is over as we've just found out that our buyer may be pulling out which means we'll lose the beautiful house we found etc etc. i'm so angry, the whole chain is ready to exchange. anyhow, DP and i have decided no more tears over it, hopefully buyer will change his mind, who knows

onto happier news.. it would seem that all my friends and family were right. we're having a boy! How could they all tell from when i was only 8 weeks?!
we've decided Isobella really isn't a suitable name for a boy so Dizzy, its over to you girl! surname starts with an H so all H firstnames are a no go. I really like long more old fashioned names that can be easily shortened to a cool nickname. No DCs already. I reckon that's enough to get you going!

preggers1 welcome to the board and to the whipps cross club! you're just down the road from me..i'm in chingford!

and welcome to all others as well (i'm sure there was someone else but cottonwool brain isn't helping me)

someone mentioned stabbing pain in her side.. i had this for a few days (came and went) when i was about 18 or 19 weeks. i figured it was just things stretching and moving into place so i stuck my head in the sand and decided to contact mw if it lasted too long. i'm pleased to say it didn't, it went as quick as it came

ooh and we've got 3 lovely photos, i'll let you know when they're on profile

miamla · 14/03/2008 14:18

sorry for absolute jumbled mess of previous post, i'm so tired. i slept badly because of house thing. i'm so tempted to sneak off to the toilets at work for a nap!

libbyssister · 14/03/2008 14:26

Miamla - you're having a boy! How lovely! Fingers crossed your buyer will stop being an idiot and complete the good news.

Ilana - Miamla's right, people will pitch in if you ask for help. We were without heating and hot water for a month in December. It was freezing and we couldn't get any washing done, and it wouldn't have dried anyway as the house was too cold. We boiled dozens of kettles/saucepans of water for the bath and our neighbours took in some loads of washing for us. A friend turned up with two heaters so we could keep one room warm at least. And the time passed. It doesn't last forever...

IlanaK · 14/03/2008 14:27

miamla - sorry to hear you also have so much stress. In my last pregnancy we sold our house out in Essex and moved to London. The flat needed total refurbishment so moved in with my mother for months at the end of pregnany while it was being done. Baby was due so had to move into the flat unfinshed with workmen still there. I do wonder if these things happen during pregnancy to everyone or if it just me and you??

libbyssister · 14/03/2008 14:35

It's not just you. With DS I got pg while the builders were in , spent the first 2 trimesters covered in dust, without plumbing or heating at intervals and with tools littering the place. We had to paint all the walls. Our kitchen wasn't installed until 36 weeks and I spent my maternity leave trying to get a kitchen floor down so the baby wouldn't know the concrete. Sounds funny now but it was tiring and dirty and stressful at the time.

You'll be laughing about this in a few months

Hi. I am still among the living. DD and I have been hit with a remarkable cold. She, of course, is feeling better but I'm taking a bit longer to recoup. Was considering a head transplant yesterday. Will spend the day catching up with everyone's posts.

Received results of my 2nd tri screen yesterday:
Risk of Downs is 1 in 2,577
Risk of Trisomy 13/18 is 1 in 250,000
Risk of Spina Bifida is not at increased risk

{{achoo}} pardon me while I go empty my head again.

Twilight! You're back!

Good results on all your tests. Poor you with a cold, do you have Lemsip over there?!

Buckets · 14/03/2008 15:35

Just wanted to say... Clayton Hardisty??? What a great name! Sounds like an American Mills&Boon hero! (oh you know, the heir to the Hardisty fortune who falls in love with kooky, working class single mom nurse or something.)
Had that 2nd migraine today, parents v kindly came and got me and DS again to play at theirs.
Just got in the post a new pink maternity top, pretty lilac washable nappy and a pack of washable breastpads, all Ebay bargains. hurrah!
Miamla, great news on your boy - when you say old fashioned name do you mean old mannish or traditional or Biblical?

miamla · 14/03/2008 16:25

old mannish and traditional are both acceptable!

thanks all for helping me focus on the good news about my little boy (woah that feels weird typing that!). He's just kicked... i swear they know when we're talking about them!

PetitFilou1 · 14/03/2008 16:27

Ilana Can you afford to send your laundry out for a month? Can you do it at a neighbours house/flat?

I'm guessing the laundry is the main problem. What a nightmare I feel for you.

I'm currently waiting for the nurse to call me back re my blood test. Obviously she rang me at home when I told the surgery I'd be out and could she please ring my mobile. Grrr.

Congratulations to Maimla and Ilanak. BOYS!! Feel free to consider Owen while you're thinking of names.

I love all the newly upload pics. Keep them coming. {twilight makes note that she failed to upload her last scan pic.}

Foghorn good to hear your little one is moving about.

Slings: Buckets and Ilanak you must be very talented to be able to work those types of slings. I think they are beautiful but I'm just not smart enough to use them. I do however LOVE the carriers Alittlebitshy posted a link to. I bookmarked it so I can go back later and see if one of those might work for me.

Poppysocks & Alittlebitshiy, twitchy legs...I thought that was a sign of a potassium deficiency.

Holiday Plans: I AM SO GLAD I DIDN'T MAKE ANY. DD started spring break on Wednesday. Our plans would have been to go to the beach next week. With our illnesses that would have been a miserable experience. Nice to hear so many of you wanting to travel to Las Vegas. DH and I were married there. Elvis officiated (not the real one of course). Our plans are to return when DD1 is about 15. Maybe by then I will be willing to get back on a plane ( Ladyofwaffle).

Captain I did find a pair of jeans. They're just Levi 518's in a bigger size than I normally wear. Still can't find maternity stuff that suits me. I expect to get my care package from Hawaii today filled with summer things best suited for a pregnant lady. My dad went wild shopping so I'm extra excited.

Dizzy so much for my orange fetish. I guess they don't keep colds at bay after all. Glad your scan went well. Just think, it's less than 4 weeks now...times going to fly!

DD and I are crashed on the sofa enjoying our miserable selves with entertainment on Nickelodeon. THANK GOODNESS FOR TV!! At her request I've just ordered pizza. Hopefully we can stomach it. Food just doesn't taste good when your nose is messed up.

Alittlebitshy I've spent the last few minutes going through the Ergo Baby website. The more I see the more I like!! I will be getting one of the carriers. There were a few out of ebay too. I added one to my watch list to see how the bidding goes.

Just word about strollers. My FAVORITE is the Joovy Tandem Stroller. You can check them out at joovy.com.

Nope, definately can't afford to send laundry out. We don't know any of our neighbours, and most have vacated now due to the way the refurbishments are going (hard to explain). My mother lives less than a block away also in a flat. We can do laundry at hers of course, but the thought of it is aweful: daily trips there to load the washer, then back to put int he dryer. The boys swim twice a week so there is that washing too. At the weekends, we do about 2-3 loads a day to do all the sheets and towels. Our washer broke a while back and it took a while to get a part for it. Taking laundry over to my mother's for a week and a half when not pregnant was bad enough - 4 weeks of it while 5 months pregnant is a nightmare! And I just can't get my head around the cooking either. We can't have takeaways for a month!

TS why would you want to fly accross America when you could do it in a Winnie Bago??? A road trip is surely much more fun.
We really regret not getting married in Vegas alone, we stopped there on our honeymoon and immediately slapped our heads for choosing the trad British meringue doo instead. Next time we went there I was 10wks pg with DD and so ill with it I could only leave the hotel room for 2hrs a day. So our plan for 2010 is to hire outfits and get Elvis to renew our vows for us. Suppose there'll be 3 kids in tow then though .

Ilana, think you're just going to have to let your standards slip re the washing. Eg swimstuff won't fall apart if you just rinse it out one week and wash it the next. Can you get any compensation from the owners of the other flats or is it all leasehold work?
