Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PhilB · 13/03/2008 19:31

Hey Dizzy. I'm fine - waiting for my 20 week scan on Monday, bit apprehensive. Also DH has been away on holiday (all discussed and agreed like adults) for a week now, so think I might be going a bit odd... Oh well. Also I've slacked off my pregnancy yoga, so guilt there, although I do just find it pretty boring, to be honest. Ho hum.

I meant alcohol, although I'm drinking enough water to drown a horse every day. I think it's just daftness, but have got the fear from the helpful pregnancy book (not always so helpful). Have been drinking about one unit every week and a half or so. Daft to worry, right? It was just the part about 'your baby may be about to pass out when you are just pleasantly tipsy' - and I've always been a lightweight...

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 19:37

all 3 of mine have been pickled before I knew they were in there lol I don't drink anymore, mainly due to fact I have 2 other kids and by this time of night am gubbed and couldn't be arsed, to be honest I never really went back to it in any style after dd1 was born, with the exception of the occassional night out lol

in terms of during pg, its my understanding that people who drink heavily are endangering their unborn child and that there is no overwhelming scientific proof to the contrary - they keep changing what they recommend, i.e. one unit a week to none at all during pg

by the time I was ready to pop with dd1 I decided a bottle of rose would be a good idea to relax me and get things moving - was half cut after a glass and a half and didn't encourage her to come out at all

personal choice in my humble opinion - you do what you feel it right and what gets you through it

poppysocks · 13/03/2008 20:44

Funny that you're talking alcohol this evening as for the first time I'm not exactly craving it, but really do quite fancy a glass of wine. I haven't found not drinking hard in either pregnancy and haven't deprived myself completely - just only had one glass on times of celebration (so it's been champagne only for this one!). Tonight I quite fancy a glass. I've almost finished a packet of maltesers instead!

Congratulations on your third boy Ilana!

Thanks for the thought re: Consultant Dizzy. Glad you've got a good 'un. I didn't see a Dr until things had got sticky at DD's birth and she was then out as quickly as she could say CS! The consultant I was officially under was the famous lady there. Deidre or something like that, with an Irish surname? Really liked the Consultant at Forth Park who we met at the Booking Scan. Crossing fingers that he's not going to be on his summer hols when this LO is due to come out.

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 20:49

Cor you lot can talk!! You don't post for 24 hours and then it takes you half an hour to catch up the next day

Hello pregnancy1, welcome to our lovely thread. Subjects covered so far = poo, sex, burger king, krispy kreme (shhhhh, don't tell dizzy) donuts, lady garden pruning, sex again, hospital bags (yes, already!), and the world's most comfortable maternity jeans (from Next). Am sure you'll feel right at home!

ALBS - I posted the jeans today, first class recorded delivery. You owe me 8 pence but I think I'll let you off . I really hope they fit and that you like them!!

TS are you ok? Not heard from you in a couple of days. Guessing you are just being busy. WE miss you though!

Two of my nurses at work today were talking to me about my pg, and one of them said "talking of pregnancy...." I looked at her and said "Oh God, you're not are you?". EEEEKKKK, how inappropriate did that sound! In my head it was meant to sound like "Really?!?" But it came out sooooo wrong. Luckily she was very understanding and wasn't offended by my gaffe!

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 20:54

CC you forgot to tell her about the husband swapping swinging and whipping sessions too lol

was just wondering where TS has been actually

poppy it was an irish lady who finally gave me emcs for dd2 and had the good grace to apologise for not thinking she was that big - she was 11lb1 !! Up until yesterday I hadn't met any of the consultants until they were dragging the kids out of me so it was nice for one of them to see my face prior to seeing my fanjo for a change!!

and what on earth is going on with the sodding roadworks in St Andrews today?!?!? only nipped over to go to Monsoon (as can usually park right outside if lucky) and was all over the farking place!!! also been recommended an osteopath in st andrews - the one directly opposite tescos - any knowledge?!?

forgot to mention ladies, I asked at apt yesterday to be referred to physio for dodgy hip and the physio phoned today with an apt time - can't beat that eh?!?

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 20:57

oooh, how can I forget swinging etc...!

ILANAK fab news on boy no. 3! I adore my little fella

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 20:59

oh, and am now apparently running a 'naming' service too lol

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 21:03

We have names picked out but dh has sworn me to secrecy - I have a friend in rl who knows my mn name so better not post them, lest "Ladydeez" ever glances in on our thread!!

We aren't going to find out what sex mini CC is this time - lol, until its born obviously!!

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 21:05

you'll have to CAT me as obviously as Aug thread name co-ordinator I'll have to approve them lol

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 21:07

OK dizzy, you can email me on [email protected] (or it could be .com)

hang on, will check....

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 21:08

mine is easy [email protected]

poppysocks · 13/03/2008 21:08

LOL about meeting the Consultant PRE-birth!

I know! The roadworks are miserable. They seem to be continuous and the parking's EVEN worse than usual. I'm lucky to have a Uni pass so can (theoretically) park there, but Monday - Friday that's basically impossible anyway. I don't have a car most of the time at the mo as DH drives it to work and I walk everywhere and I swear it's the fastest way around. Really helped with losing the baby weight with DD too. With the new one on it's way, and it being winter through this lot of maternity leave I'm resigned to remaining larger than I should be. Having said that, with the traffic as it is, maybe I should just brave the weather....! Sorry - REALLY rambling now.

Re: Osteopath. I vaguely knew that lady in that practice when I was a student (years and years ago) and if she's still there then I know she was good as she sorted out the v. dodgy back of a friend. Other than that, though can't help. Sorry!

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 21:09

yeah its .co.uk

Will email you now

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 21:14

poppy its someone called clayton hardisty and his wife angelica or something, will give them a call - am hoping its not a husband and wife thing - seems to be a pattern doesn't it lol

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 21:15

I've emailed you from both my yahoo and ntl accounts. Dizzy now knows my secrets!!!

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 21:18

Girls, am off to have a nice glass of Baileys with ice.......laters x

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 21:20

lol have emailed you back!

right who wants CC's account number and sort code?!?

LadyOfWaffle · 13/03/2008 21:35

Evening all, let me go catch up x

LadyOfWaffle · 13/03/2008 21:56

Righty - o, caught up I think!

Welcome Pregnancy1 These are a great bunch of people to be pregnant with

Shazza - good idea about adding hospitals, I am nosey as anything to find out if someone is birthing in 'mine'!

Buckets - slings, yes! I didn't get one last time but really could have done with it. No idea what one I will get though being err... big and big boobed, I can see baby swinging round my ankles to feed him/her! Plus my back is quite bad so I need one that really spread weight about, I had a baby bjorn piuchy thing but it was agony, great for DH though! (DH to carry DS, not me carry DH!)

Pregnancy1 - I thought about NCT classes last time, ended up just doing my hospital ones (which didn't cover alot of practical stuff like all the panting and positions) but was excellent anyway. 'Mad Mary' (as we nick named her) was ace, I was praying to have her as my midwife when I went in but she was on holiday! This time I am definatly going again, I have forgotten everything.

Buckets - I don't smoke so haven't been suffering giving up, but for some reason a month or so ago I craved it ?!? I have never even smoked (bar at about age 14 in an orchard with a mate!) Weird...

Dizzy - is your middle name really rumplestiltskin?? I never actually realised it was a name, I only know of it from the fairytale.

Hazie - Pain in your side - I get similar when I strain (for various reasons!), I presumed it was one of my cysts, but it could just be the ligament aches and pains you tend to get.

PhilB - Pregnancy yoga, get you! I meant to go last time (full of all these aspirations!) but didn't in the end - I may get (if it exsists, I am sure it does) a pregnancy yoga DVD, with DHs work I can't commit to something every week. I am missing alchohol too, I bought some alchohol free beer and wine for a dinner party at my sisters last month, was pretty nice actually! I don't think I will deny myself a Guinness on the 17 th though Well, I think I may be aneamic, medicinal purposes you see

Expectant · 14/03/2008 07:12

Hi Pregnancy1 I'm 31 too and expecting my first as well. Was living in London till last year when moved out here to Singapore. I am glad to hear someone else cried lots when they saw the scan as I did too but was quite disconcerted when the doctor asked me if they were tears of joy or not!

Have been struggling with the no alcohol too and have probably had 2 glasses of wine since 12 weeks.

pregnancy1 · 14/03/2008 08:16

Hello alittlebitshy - apologies for the delay, I've changed my working hours to stand a chance of getting a seat on the tube on the way in, so leave early.
So glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about the london/essex debate. I was on a hen weekend a few months ago and a girl from highams park spent 5 minutes lecturing me about how I was an essex girl as she had a London postcode and I didn't. bah. I just ended up nodding and agreeing as it really isn't that important!!
I went to the midwife at south woodford health centre first (she's fab), then had my dating scan at whipps x and then the next midwife appt and blood tests at Whipps x a couple of days ago. I have my 20 week scan there at the beginning of April and then have to go and see the south woodford midwife at about 24 weeks. I just turn up where and when i'm told as it's all so new!

pregnancy1 · 14/03/2008 08:22

Hey Expectant. I think I alarmed the woman doing the scan who clearly thought I'm highly strung. She seemed surprised when I was quite so thrilled at seeing the scan....
Weirdly I'm finding the alcohol thing really easy. I remember telling my husband that there was no way I was giving up alcohol (not that I was planning on getting drunk, just that i did love a glass of red wine every evening), but when it came to it I just haven't wanted it. I had lots of early xmas parties before I realised I was pregnant and didn't even drink then (but didn't understand why). I'm still addicted to my morning cup of tea, so have just gone decaff....

libbyssister · 14/03/2008 09:12

Morning all.

I haven't given up anything . Alcohol's not a problem as I just don't fancy it. I poured myself a glass of wine last night and didn't want it after the first few sips. But I had a brie sandwich yesterday and I'm still drinking caffeinated tea (3 cups a day).

I'm not worrying about it really, there are a lot worse things you could be doing to your baby.

Welcome to the thread Preggie1!

CaptainCaveman · 14/03/2008 11:16

ALBS - did the postman bring your parcel?????

I smoked when I drank wine -which was every night!! Smoked 2 per day (wooH!). Gave up as soon as I found out and not wanted one since. Gone right off wine too which IS sad. Having the odd glass of bailey's though . I drank far more when pg with ds (not excessively, but a glass most nights). Now I go weeks between a drink. My liver has never had it so good!!

libbyssister · 14/03/2008 11:34

I am so ITCHY today. I can't sit still. It's driving me craaaaaazzzyyyy
