lol thanks guys, am certainly more positive after yesterday's scan and meeting with really very nice consultant - am also now more in the know of what exactly is going on, there's nothing worse than the not knowing IYKWIM?

poppy was only asking so I could recommend you get bumped over to this consultant, he really was very nice. I told him I wanted a 25min labour with no pain and no stiches, he just said he would see what he could do !!

lovely day here, dd2 still not 100% but college work calls so put her to nursery with instructions to phone if actually unwell and not just grumpy!!

A funny story for you on the travel subject. I am coming back to Blighty for nephew's christening in late April so I called the airline just to check whether I needed a letter from the doctor. The kindly gentleman on the phone told me that I didn't need a letter until I was 40 weeks . I said I thought he'd better check that out as I didn't think it could be correct. He came back and told me it was at 36 weeks for flights less than 4 hours and 34 for anything over that.

I think someone needs to go back to school for a biology refreshers....

All this talk of holidays.... really must get something booked. We wanted to go to Sweden but I think it's going to be too complicated. Might just get a easy beach hol instead... Late May I think.

I am wearing maternity trousers today for the first time and it is total BLISS. Can't believe I made myself so uncomfortable sticking with the normal clothes until now. And I definitely look more pregnant now. I have even started to come out of the closet. I have told my boss and most of my friends at work and a few people by email. Just got to tackle my parents over the Easter weekend now...

Good news on your triple test. I got a 'low risk' result on mine last week. It was 1 in 516 or something which actually isn't much different to the risk for my age anyway. I know it's STUPID but I was a bit disappointed! I was hoping for a 1:500000000 result or something. Right, I'm going to go and GET OVER MYSELF now...

Heheh, the answer is to have your holiday inside the M25 like me, we're camping in Edmonton of all places this Whitsun!
Last went abroad in 2004, left DD with my mum, came home early because I missed her and then found we'd conceived DS while we were away! DH has been too scared to leave the country since. Saving up for a 10th anniversary trip to Vegas though in 2010.

oh buckets, we went to vegas for dh's 30th a couple of years ago, was 10wks pg with dd2 though so couldn't enjoy all the fab free bevvy but hey, it was still great

V jealous of all these hols, but in an abstract way. I know that the way i feel (sick, heartburny and tired) i would not cope with or enjoy a plane trip or get much out of a nice hol (not that we ever do sunny hols anyhow ). we have decided that we'll go to Paris (dh's cousin hasa flat we can borrow) in Oct half term. That was the first hol we had with dd, and she loves the idea of it being baby's too. Plus she likes it there...

Spent the day with a friend and her 4 week old yeaterday. Aw. cute, but I want MY baby!!!!!!

Just been to Toys R Us (shudder - i love it but so much STUFF) to get pressies for 2 parties dd has (one she can go to, one she can't). They are both Boy Parties and i have no clue about 5 year old boy toys. Went for a Ben 10 gadget for 1 cos the invite had Ben 10 on it, and the other a Power Ranger gadget. {hmm} will get dd to see if she approves later!

I had my scan this morning and ITS A BOY!! My other two boys are very pleased as that is what they wanted. I am happy too - I wouldn't have minded either way, but three boys is nice.

The scan went on for 30 minutes as the baby would not be in a good position to check the heart properly. They said all looked fine, but they want me to go back in three weeks time when the baby is bigger to see the heart properly. This is mainly because I had high risk for Down's based on age and blood test. I am not worried though - I am sure there is nothing wrong with this baby.

I will spend this weekend sorting through the boxes of boys stuff to see what I want to keep.

IlanaK thats lovely news, congratulations - you're breeding your own wee gang there!! can we start on the baby names now?!?!?

Baby names is a bit of a sore point! We really have run out of boys names. We like Jewish Biblical names and there aren't that many! David is one possibility.

A boy!!! to whoever went to Las Vegas - I really want to go but apart from money (or lack of it) I will not be able to go on a long flight - once I find a nice boat that goes to America I think I will have a really long holiday there, do 'everything' so I don't have to go on a long boat trip again!

Here's a baby name problem for your new consultation business. Names that work in Spanish and English and have the same spelling in both.

Isabel, Clara, Daniel etc. are therefore possibilities where the spelling doesn't change, but names that I like, like Susanna, Thomas, Paul and John all have different spellings in Spanish and given that we are living here we should probably use Spanish spellings, which I'm not keen on.

No previous children and DH's surname has the initials A T and so although something like Santiago Pedro Lucas would give an amusing acronym, something more sensible may be a better option.

I may just have to deal with Spanish spellings of English names, but if you have any brainwaves I would be delighted to hear them ...

PS IlanaK, congratulations on the boy and Expectant, I had a quiet chuckle at your story.

Dizzydixies - Just adding another consultation to your list then! It must be Jewish Biblical. I really don't like names that are likely to be shortened. By two boys are called Aaron and Elye (we made up that spelling). So do your magic!

Hello,
Am new to all this - been watching various threads, picking up tips and generally being reassured, but thought it was time to join in.
I'm 17weeks and 5 days (not too up on all the abbreviations yet). Due on August 16th. First pregnancy and am 31 years old. Live in london and am hugely excited. Had my first scan in Feb (and cried my eyes out) and met the midwife, heard the little heartbeat again yesterday. Had my bloods taken this morning, but have no idea how long they take to come back. Next scan is on the 8th April!

After a few interesting weeks (nobody warns you how hideous the first trimester is) I am absolutely blooming. truly loving being pregnant (despite random hip pains, constipation etc etc)

So excited :-)
