dizzydixies · 09/03/2008 10:16

morning all - reek of vomit and bleach IS coming from me, sorry - dd2 been up puking all night and still can't keep down water this morning bless her - napping now so fingers crossed that will help or NHS24 will have me packed off to emergency Drs this afternoon - just what I want for a sunday that dh and I both have off for once!

Miamla - great news about your matty top! well done you

is your 20wk scan on Wed too then? very exciting - I know its only been 2 wks for me but with every wk that passes for me its a good thing - fingers crossed!!

right, am off to shower now washing maching has finished - am disgusting myself here

alittlebitshy · 09/03/2008 10:41

poor you dizzy
I'm so glad dd hasn't had any vomiting things sinc ei've been pg. My m/s just can't deal with anyone else's pukiness. When dh had d and v a couple months ago it was bad wnough and i didn;t have to go too near it....

All these 20 week scans coming up - how exciting! I'm looking fwd to mine in a week, but also nervous simply cos i know it's the "anomaly" scan. With dd I wasn't a bit scared, but this time I'm so worked up about anything and everything.

Dh and i are both tired today (as always lol - me being pg, him being on steroids that are making him tired, plus it being Sunday so him having lots of church to do) so we decided yesterday that we'd have a film afternoon with dd this afternoon. Video and popcorn. she is so excited!!!! I think it's going to be Mary Poppins though I think dh was trying to push for High School Musical 2 cos he's not seen that one yet.(lol!!!)

TwilightSurfer · 09/03/2008 12:47

miamla you should post a picture of your maternity top in your profile!!

I don't get another scan, even at week 20, because the one I just had took it's place. It was hard enough going 4 weeks between scans...now I'll go crazy. I can do the 3D scan between 24 and 32 weeks. Doc said 30 weeks is best for facial characteristics. 30 Weeks!! It will be hard enough holding out till 24.

I have yoga later today. Before class I'm going to pop over to a store that might have jeans that work for me. PLEASE let them have jeans that fit me and my belly.

Speaking of bellies...baby has been calm all weekend. No more poking her head out. Only slightly worried. When do we start the counting movement thing??

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 09/03/2008 13:44

i think it's a lot later we start counting the movements thingummy...

hmm, will google now and look...

ah-ha - this site says after 28 weeks but particularly later on.

gosh more to worry about - eek.

TwilightSurfer · 09/03/2008 13:51

okay...28 weeks...I can do that. {{twilight shelves movement worry for 10 weeks}}

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 09/03/2008 14:12

lol at shelving the worry!

LadyOfWaffle · 09/03/2008 15:46

Hello all Announcement cards??? Wow, super organised! I didn't really have anyone to tell last time... I leave it up to my mum to tell that side of the family, she is a funny person - things like this aren't talked about. I found out my cousin was having a baby when his girlfriend was about 6 months pregnant, then the second time I think after she had it, and mum rung last night to tell me another cousin had had a boy Err, ok! She told only her close sisters last time after I was married and the rest after DS was born, this time I expect it will be after the baby is born. SO nice to be so ashamed of!

Hospital bags... last time I took 3 - 1 labour, 1 for baby and one for me. It's amazing how full they get with towels, dressing gown, blankets for baby (which I didn't need in the end) etc. This time I'll try and cut it down to two... maybe I researched for ages planning what to pack... lets of odds and ends like water mist spray (which is really expensive actually but so worth it), this leg tingling cream stuff, all sorts of wipes (can't remember why, probably to mop vomit from my chin (lovely!)), lucozade tablets (and drink but DH kept pinching the drink!), boiled sweets to suck, 3 or 4 towels (body, hair, stand on and hand), loads of spare nighties and PJs... I'll sit down sometime this afternoon and go through a full list. I often have nightmares where I am going on holiday or something and have no luggage because I forgot to pack, which makes me super paranoid to be ready early! Still ages until my scan, I am getting impatient now!

LadyOfWaffle · 09/03/2008 16:19

Righty -o, hospital bag (s) so far:

Labour Bag

Maternity notes
Birth plan (not doing one this time though I don't think)
Nightdresses (or old T shirts) (a few as I puked all over mine twice)
Socks (although last time I had fat people socks for my epidural )
TENS machine (anyone buying one?)
Books/magazines (last time I took a puzzle book, was great fun for me and DH)
Snacks and drinks (incl. energy drinks, boiled sweets, MINTS (dry throat alot))
Camera
Camcorder (eek!)
ipod
Massage oils (have to check good pregnancy ones, last time I just took baby oil)
Leg cream (that tingly stuff from Clarins I was on about as I was in bed alot due to epidural)
Water spray (so worth the £6/7, keep in fridge as long as possible)
Wet wipes
Hairbands (last thing you want is hair all in your face)
Clips
Hairbrush
Lip balm
Watch (with second hand)
Dettol wipes (for the baths if you have a bath in labour)
Face fan !!! (and spare batteries, will be mid August!)

Hospital Bag (me)

Feeding nightdresses
Dressing gown
Slippers
Nursing bras
Breastpads
Nipple cream
Going home outfit (last time was BIG tracksiut trousers and a big comfy top and I think my slippers!)
Knickers (BIG stretchy disposable, I found boots ones were not good (they feel like paper) The best ones are the ones when you stretch, they are like stretching a white dishcloth (see throughy))
Maternity pads
Toiletries bag - toothbrush, toothpaste, mirror, flannel, soap, shampoo, makeup etc.)
Towels (dark, or just not white)
Change for phone
Arnica tablets
List of phone numbers
Spare clothes for DH incase we are there a while

Baby Bag

Bodysuits (tons - about 6)
Sleepsuits (about 6)
Nappies
Cotton wool
Hat
Mittens
Socks (DS was born very cold)
Sunhat
Suncream (?)
Muslins
Nappy cream

I think that's it (so far!)

LadyOfWaffle · 09/03/2008 16:20

Oh, and going home outfit for baby!

CaptainCaveman · 09/03/2008 16:45

Stop with all the talk of packing your bags! You will only confuse me when I come to pack my suitcase in 8 weeks time for holiday - I have visions of trying to pack breastpads and great big maternity knickers, and then having to empty my case on arrival in Florida because of the suspicious contents of my luggage!!

BARGAIN of the year- been to McArthur Glen today (retail outlet place in NOtts) and in M&S I found a maternity dress, simple, black, 3/4 sleeves and calf length, fits perfectly and flatters bump too - only £5 . What a bloody bargain!!!!!!!! I was actually looking for a cardi but this dress jumped out and bit me

HazieAndBaby · 09/03/2008 16:54

Lol at CC! Imagine they had to check your bag and opened it to find breast pads, disposable knickers and maternity pads!!!!

dizzydixies · 09/03/2008 16:59

CC - I think you should deflate the birthing ball before trying to put it into the suitcase though!!

am very of your maternity find, could you not have bought them in bulk and posted them out to us lol

LofW great list, having done this twice already am still not that organised so will be copying it all out!!

puke fest seems to have passed thank goodness. Dd2 is normally such a wee bulldozer to see her lifeless and pale was very upsetting, never mind the reeking of bleach and vomit.

ALBS am not too bad when it comes to clearing it up but thats because they normally choose to do it when dh is on lates/nights so I have no choice!! Am sorry to hear you're still having m/s - what a pain for you. does nothing ease it at all? sending you positive non nauseous thoughts

have been domestic goddess with dd1 this afternoon - made lemon yogurt fairy cakes. chocolate chip muffins a chocolate chip cake and some minestrone soup - who started this Sunday bake off thing and am I the only one still doing it?!?!

HazieAndBaby · 09/03/2008 17:08

No dizzy, you're not the only one doing food prep. I just unwrapped a Mars bar... hee hee!
xx

LadyOfWaffle · 09/03/2008 17:08

awwww, mars bar! Serious chocolate cravings going on here ATM.

VintageGardenia · 09/03/2008 17:09

Hi everyone, gosh I step out of the room for five minutes and celebrity mums step in, and you're all packing your maternity bags!

I am interested in the TENS machine thing, LoW, my sister used one to great effect, I think she hired it for a month rather than buying it. I might investigate doing the same.

dd you are way ahead in the bakeoff stakes, I haven't lifted a finger in the kitchen today, though am planning a gorgeous smoked salmon pasta for supper tonight (unless I polish off the smoked salmon in plastic bread sandwiches before then, of course), but I will be getting my Nigella off the shelf to give you a whipping next week!

CC loving the sound of your maternity dress, sounds as if would be perfect for work / possibly also parties - I wonder if I could track it down over here. For a fiver it wouldn't even matter if you only wore it a few times! Sounds fab. Much Florida envy by the way, you lucky duck, we are off to Iceland but not till May and somehow I think the climate there will be a bit less hospitable!

miamia how fab getting compliments in the street! Well done you, did you design it too?

Twilight I think it's too early to be really worried on the movement thing, I know it's easy for other people to say but do try and relax about it. And I speak as someone who would like the reassurance of a little movement myself!

dizzydixies · 09/03/2008 17:18

PMSL hazie, do you have a receipe for that, sound lovely
VG!! how are you? have managed not to start any fights recently, although I did upset LaJolie (whispers - I mentioned Jen!!)

am soooo not packing yet, I have a terrible rep for bag packing so dh just sighs now!!

get a tens, fab fab fab, and remind me to book mine too - we hire them from local hosp so just leave them behind after labour

looking forward to your whipping next week and very jealous of your tea!!

HazieAndBaby · 09/03/2008 17:19

It was amazing LadyOfWaffle! I dipped it in my tea so that it went melty and everything!! Yum yum, OMG I want another one now! xx

CaptainCaveman · 09/03/2008 17:20

Do you know, I think the dress was MADE for me! It was the only maternity item in the shop - and it was my size too! The fact it only cost a fiver is just a superb bonus. Plan to wear it for work (a lot), and we have a 40th party to go to in 3 weeks. Ideal for spring time weather too.

Like hazie I have been busy in the food prep stakes - I peeled 2 bananas, and then went to the herculean effort of not only opening a bag of crisps but eating them all too. Phew. I deserve a lie down!!!

CaptainCaveman · 09/03/2008 17:22

dizzy whats this about whipping? Are we returning to pregnancy porn again

VintageGardenia · 09/03/2008 17:23

Mmm it's not going to be very good for the preggers weight gain, seeing as it's egg pasta, and the sauce is riddled with butter and cream. I choose to focus on the health-giving fish, however, and may lay a rocket leaf beside it for visual contrast and a vitamin.

Yes I heard a whisper about you putting your foot in your mouth all right, how bloody insensitive of you to mention the ex. No sign of LaJolie returning since then, I see - you've put paid to the sleb assocations of the August board. Nice one and I hadn't even got to meet her . Anyway now the Cap'n is all New Best Friendy with her I wouldn't have a got a look-in.

So tell about the tens, when did you start with it and did you use it all the way through labour and did you have anything else and was it effective?

LadyOfWaffle · 09/03/2008 17:24

OMG! Tell me again! Say it again! I am desperatly trying to call DH before he gets home, I need a Mars Bar! And I can feel totally guilt free as it's not nestle. Still trying to find a kitkat substitute!

VintageGardenia · 09/03/2008 17:24

Cap'n stop it or ALBS will be taking her vicar and RUNNING.

VintageGardenia · 09/03/2008 17:25

I love how food turns into porn! Mars Bar dipped in tea - oh oh oh again again - it's hot - it's good - oh SWEET - more - YES OH YES perfect .... mmmmmmmm.

CaptainCaveman · 09/03/2008 17:27

Aha VG - I now know where ALBs lives though!! (am posting her the Next matty jeans)....
Hang on that sounds weird - am not a weirdy stalker or anything! I'm a good Christian lady too!!

CaptainCaveman · 09/03/2008 17:28

ok so 'lady' might be an exaggeration....
