wish dh had to follow around AFTER me with wipes, then i wouldn't be president of 'the club'

timmyinatizzy · 18/02/2008 17:48

Happy Birthday hayls, is there any virtual cake left or has everyone scoffed it? Not long now before we are scoffing real cake in each others presence (sp?)

HQ hope you are feeling better now, and your lo is being a wriggler again.

My sympathies to all those who are suffering from 'down below' problems. I seem to be more regular now than ever, I think junior is squashing my bowels, so I'm a little and often person now , sorry if tmi!!

I still haven't packed my or juniors bag for the hospital yet. I have washed a few clothes for junior, and I think I have everything, I've just not packed it.

Couple of questions. Where do you get the Lanisoh (Is that how you spell it?) cream from. Do I have to specifically ask for it at the pharmacy or is it on the shelf? Second question, I am planning to breastfeed, but if I can't, do I need to take sterlised bottles to hopsital with me. I know that the hospital provide milk, but not sure about bottles.

Glammama · 18/02/2008 17:56

I got some Lansinoh cream from Mothercare online but I've seen it in John Lewis too.

I'm glad everyone finds it so funny that DP will be wiping up after me. [grn] Wonder if he will.......

PurlyQueen · 18/02/2008 17:58

Some large branches of Sainsbury's stock it too. I bought a new tube on Ebay for £4.95 including postage.

I've packed my bag but I'm still confused about what to take for junior. I think I'll wait until I do the birth centre tour in a couple of weeks' time.

merryberry · 18/02/2008 17:59

don't seem to find lansinoh easily timmy, i got my second (!) tube online from JL (boring). It ain't cheap for something a sheep basically exuded...

Maybe try a more interesting maternity website and bundle it up with other goodies! I got out cot from these people good service that was.

littleducks · 18/02/2008 18:26

I found last time you had to specifically ask for lasinoh, as was about £10 and behind counter in superdrug, they also try to fob you off with cheaper, inferior stuff first but my midwife had warned me its lasinoh that is the best. It lasts ages too, i still have an entire tube for this time round as you only use a tiny bit at a time.

MumOfBillyTheKid · 18/02/2008 19:48

First day of ML and only just turned PC on to catch up on the chat! Lasinoh - Boots sell it - as littleducks says - don't get fobbed off with any other make - everyone tells me it's the ONLY one to get.

Happy birthday hayls - any cake left?!?

HQ - glad to hear you are ok - that must have been scarry for you!

Sorry to all those with problems down below. Don't forget to try lactulose - that works well for me.

Last day at work on Friday was real anti-climax (I guess I was working from home) - was just surprised I got no card/call from my boss to wish me luck - nothing! Baby shower on Saturday more than made up for it - had tons of cake, tea (1 glass of champers!) and lots of lovely pressies (including pampering for me!) at a friends house.

Looked at a couple of nurseries today (one lovely, the other rather boring) - so hard to do when not even had LO yet!

Right - better go cook some dinner.

Jaysthird · 18/02/2008 21:28

Hi
quick message i get access to Boots staff shop and last time i went i bought two tubes of the Lansinoh cream, 3.00 each. I doubt i will need both tubes so if anyone wants one then let me know, i am sure i still have it, maybe i best check first!!

I can sympathsize with those having problems with certain movements, i have used califig (syrup of figs) i swear its the best thing for getting a quick result, and i dont even mind the taste!

Well i am due in precisely one weeks time and it cant come quick enough. I cant sleep, i am moody, my back aches, SPD is a nightmare, i waddle everywhere, i cant get round to doing the nesting thing even though i desperately want to, thinking of getting in a cleaner for a one off to do it for me....is that bad???!!! anyway i take refuge in the fact we are all in the same boat!

I know i am not here all the time but i do read every few days

Love hearing everyones gripes and groans, makes you feel like you are not on your own!

tori32 · 18/02/2008 22:03

HQ- glad you're ok.
Happy Birthday Hayls! Anything munchable left?

Lansinoh- you can get it at most pharmacies, Moss is where I got a tube.
LOL@ Jaysthird- I am also planning to buy my nesting instinct!

Its taken ages to catch up again and I can't wait to hear of more new additions Good luck to everyone due soon.

I went to my nieces christening at the weekend, near Preston, which took 5 hours going and 6 coming home due to a road being closed. Very uncomfortable so I definately would not want to do another long trip before baby arrives. Christening lovely though and dd and baby niece both very well behaved

PurlyQueen · 18/02/2008 22:14

Definitely get a cleaner jaysthird. They can do all the bending, lifting etc while you get the benefits.

I'd be lost without my cleaner right now (or at least in a wheelchair!).

MarchMum · 18/02/2008 23:28

GET this - waters broke went to hospital, they say I have to be induced bc of GBS. So I've come home for my hospital bag and a shag to try and bring it on naturally! Should have baby by tomorrow but no water/pool :.(

Wish me luck!Guess I'll have to change my screen name to Febmum.

Jaysthird · 19/02/2008 05:15

Marchmum....hope the 'shag' worked for you!!!!!!!!!

SpaceHopperHayls · 19/02/2008 08:23

Oooh, good luck MarchMum (although I suppose by the time you get back here you'll have done it. How exciting!)

Jaysthird I think hiring someone to nest for you is definitely the way forward. I have had no urge to clean or nest in any way, shape or form, but luckily I have a team here to do it for me.

Bloke is usually bleach-obsessed, but has upped it a gear recently (I think it is a military thing...apparently I don't do it to correct standards!) and Girl Dog has started going into corners to dig the carpet and shred newspaper, which is apparently her way of providing somewhere comfortable for me to give birth. I'm grateful, but think I will stick to the hospital for now..

How is everyone today?

Jaysthird · 19/02/2008 09:05

lol space at your girlie dog helping you to nest... strange what animals pick up. My cat wont leave my tummy alone, hes been the same in all three pregnancys just wants to be close and 'knead' me!!

Def going to get the cleaner now. Had a leaflet through from a lady just starting up, i think itsd a sign. Going to call her later. Whats a good going rate do you think?

e14mum · 19/02/2008 09:07

Marchmum! Thinking of you today...
Just popping by for a quick catch up. Hope everyone else is well.

HolidaysQueen · 19/02/2008 09:17

Oooh MarchMum - so exciting! We're about to have our 4th baby, ladies!

I've just been pigging out on homemade blueberry pancakes. I'm working through any sugar-free/very low sugar recipes in Domestic Goddess - I still have scones to look forward to this afternoon

LO has been very co-operative these past few days and has been kicking me like crazy to reassure me he is okay. Either that or he just holds a grudge and still hasn't forgiven me for the shock I gave him on Friday night

All your talk of hospital bags and MarchMum's imminent arrival have suddenly made me panic about getting my hospital bag done even though I'm only 35 weeks. Any recommendations of good online lists so that I can start getting things together? I'll go and do a search on here as well - I guess there are a million and one threads started by similarly clueless first-timers... Clearly I now know that antibacterial wipes should be the first thing on the list

merryberry · 19/02/2008 09:19

wowsa good luck marchmum!

jays3rd we pay £9.50 an hour, close central london for our cleaner. she also does a bit of housekeeping, buys stuff in, reports on repairs needed i've not noticed. need to ask her to do some more hours for a month or so, am getting miserable sitting around looking at muck I can't get to deal with. Was like this when BF ds1, don't want that again.

Loving the nesting dog report

HolidaysQueen · 19/02/2008 09:31

jays3rd - we pay £7 an hour, west London. She does our ironing as well as general cleaning and tidying and is fab. We are definitely upping her hours during the first couple of months!

spugs · 19/02/2008 09:42

wow marchmum, good luck, hopefully your holding your baby by now

my cousins girlfriend has gone into labour a couple of weeks early the lucky mare! im jealous still 5 weeks to go here.

so then whos next, we shall have to update the list.

Glammama · 19/02/2008 10:10

Thinking of you, marchmum. I couldn't sleep last night, if I'd checked this thread I could have poppped down to UCH with some wipes for you. Wishing you all the best XX

I'm counting down my days, single figures now. And I don't have enough newborn clothes. Lots of 0-3 months though.

doup76 · 19/02/2008 10:13

So exciting for Marchmum!!!!

Just been catching up on the last few days of chat...

OK so I pretty much bought everything I need for my hospital bag a few weeks ago now, but still 'haven't got round' to actually packing it. I keep finding something else to do......clearing not quite psychologically there yet.

I have also become the laziest person in the world......can't be bothered to do ANY chores at all....

turtle23 · 19/02/2008 10:14

Oooooh Marchmum GOOD LUCK! I'm so jealous!!! Well, not jealous enough to want mine today (banish that thought...12 more days, 12 more days...)Hope it all goes smoothly!!!!

OP posts:
JFly · 19/02/2008 10:17

Oh, how exciting Marchmum! Hope everything goes well.

HQ and Merry I want your cleaners, they sound amazing. Ours is OK (£8/ hour in SW London) but needs loads of direction and has to be told to clean into the corners, etc. Annoying, but the alternative is worse. And whilst this pregnant, I'll take what I can get.

SHH your dogs are funny! Mine are still poorly and feeling sorry for themselves. Tried out a bit of chicken and rice to settle their tums. I hope it works, I'm sick of cleaning up after them.

DH asked me last night if I had any idea when the baby was going to be born. Would it be soon? Um, dunno, ask the baby!

JFly · 19/02/2008 10:27

HQ emailing you my hospital bag list, FWIW. Some things my hospital specifically recommend (towels and pillows), so may not apply to you. I've probably overpacked, but that's in my nature!

fitnfortyone · 19/02/2008 12:36

argh, see what happens when i go offline for a day, marchmum - hope all is going well and we get a good report soon!

had a lovely day yesterday at the spa, very relaxing facial, a pedicure and eyebrow shape. They didn't have enough time/therapists to fit in any more pampering since there were 5 of us and 3 in another group. Food was actually very good apart from the "free" lunch poolside, loads of veggie options and I have to report I am well cleared out "down there" following it all! Spent lots of time in the pool cooling down as it was so hot out of it, then lounging in the jacuzzi for longer than i probably should have but i do love 'em.

merry, longest i've been in the birthing pool is about 1 1/2 hrs I think, but i tend to lose track of time! Got to empty it today and refill since it's been full for the requisite 7-10 days after which they recommend clean stuff

Damn, I missed birthday cake as well, belated happy birthday SHH. My eunuch doggie has no nesting instincts and pretty much gave me the cold shoulder for 10 mins since i deserted him yesterday...he's much more interested in sitting along the top of the sofa warning me when dangerous cats are prowling past the window, then getting indignant when i won't open the door to let him chase them.

Off to see m/w for my 38+2 check. Bit gutted to have both colleagues yesterday say I'm huge but bump hasn't dropped, then got a feeding-bra fitting in mothercare this morning and she said i'd still got a good way to drop. Though have walked off with a 42F bra which will please DH no end, feels much more comfy than the 44C I've been slouching in for the last few months
