How did I cope at work for so long? I've had a post-lunch nap every day since finishing work and don't know how I did without it. This baby making is exhausting!

JFly - thank you! I'm so pleased that there is a fellow Excel list-maker on this thread I would never have thought of bendy straws or lip balm or tonnes of the other things on your list so thank you!

Fitn41 - I've just had a bra fitting too. I'm now a 38H (eek!). She fitted me for one nursing bra (36K! double eek - they only go up to L!) so I have something in case baby arrives early and then will measure me again once the baby arrives to be sure that's the right size. For anyone with big boobs like me, I have to recommend (probably for 200th time) that you get down to Bravissimo if there is one near you. They are just fabulous.

PurlyQueen · 19/02/2008 15:10

ohmygod - another baby for the March list . Wonder who's going to be next?

We pay our cleaner £8 an hour (north-west london) and he's fantastic. The house looks like a showhome by the time he's finished.

My GP has advised me to start maternity leave sooner rather than later as the baby's head is in my pelvis and I can no longer walk, sit or stand properly. Next Tuesday will be my last day - hurrah!!!!

Cats couldn't seem to care less about the impending arrival.

JFly · 19/02/2008 15:13

HQ no problem! I must say that "hospital bag" is merely one tab in a five tab spreadsheet based on your original "baby stuff" list. I only needed a little encouragement to get into full-blown spreadsheet mode.

My figleaves order arrived yesterday and must say they have a very good selection of nursing bras for the big-boobed. I'm measuring 34G or GG (according to Selfridges, but may go to Rigby and Peller as not sure how accurate), so puts me in the G/H category for most bras.

Have had good results from Anita in maternity version, so bought three nursing styles to try. warning Anita cup size measures one size smaller than UK cups, so must get next cup size up (ie if G get H). Figleaves is good and automatically puts you in the right size for the brand.

HOWEVER, having tried the bras on, they only just fit me now, so will have to go up I think in cup and band. But bump is quite high still, so maybe band will be OK once baby is out. Will try to get remeasured next week or once bump drops.....

HolidaysQueen · 19/02/2008 15:35

JFly - my fitter today said that once the baby is born your ribs have space to move back so your bra back size falls. So I'm in a 38 back now but on the tightest fastening as I still have 5 weeks to expand further, but she thinks I'll easily drop back to a 36 when he's born. I think you're a few weeks ahead of me so you probably won't expand in the back much more so I imagine the nursing bras you have now are probably fine in the back for after.

However, it's the cup sizes that are the problem as they can't really tell how much bigger you'll get once your milk comes in. She told me a good rule of thumb is to make sure you have enough room in the cup now to get your hand in comfortably as well! I bought one nursing bra so I have something to use and then will go back to her once my milk comes in to get fitted again.

I guess Ealing isn't too far from you: can definitely recommend Vicky at Bravissimo for fittings if you want one-to-one advice as she is brilliant!

PurlyQueen · 19/02/2008 15:36

Oh god - I'm am H/J cup already

fitnfortyone · 19/02/2008 15:52

good to see so many larger ladies around Not convinced on my measurements from today as the F cup fitted very nicely, didn't feel like any room to stick a hand in as well (not that i'm letting anyone stick their hands there to try it out!). But can always take it back and exchange, have some "softer" nursing bras/bodies which will do in the meantime. Think we have a new Bravissimo in Cardiff which i might get to sometime in the next year or so after junior arrives!

All fine with 38wk check, baby engaged at 2/5 so practically all the way there (well, over 1/2 way) which i'm happy about after thinking i was imagining the fullness down below...now just got to make sure he arrives either before Monday or after next Weds as they're going to be resurfacing the road outside our house next mon-weds - not what you want when expecting a couple of m/ws to turn up for a home birth and nowhere for them to park!!!

turtle23 · 19/02/2008 16:39

Very puzzled as I was a 38E a few weeks ago and am now between a 36DD and 38C? Am I just sagging loads or is it ok to lose fat at this point?

OP posts:
derah · 19/02/2008 17:01

Oooh, very excited about MarchMum, though I thought you weren't allowed to shag once waters are broken cos of risk of infection?

I'm definitely in nesting mode; today I've been cleaning my windows!! Not something I'd usually do, in fact I think I've only ever one it once before in this house. On the other hand, I've been at work 3/4 days a week before so didn't have the time for anything more than a basic clean on my days off.

Right, dogs (who are not showing any nesting signs) need a walk....

spugs · 19/02/2008 17:01

im still a large b cup
turtle - did you get measured at the same place?

HolidaysQueen · 19/02/2008 17:03

Turtle - it can very often depend on the make of bra you are in, and I tend to vary on any given day by a couple of back/cup sizes even without being pregnant as some makes come up small and others are more generous. It's exactly like with clothes - I can fit into a size 14 in Monsoon no problem but can't even squeeze into a 16 in Miss Selfridge, even on the occasions when they do decide to stock clothes larger than a size 8...

I am trying to remortgage as our deal ends next month. It is so bloody boring and I'm now actually feeling of DH sat at work. He has been able to outsource this to me as I'm "free all day" to make calls and surf the net when normally mortgage admin falls onto his list of responsibilities... Tomorrow I have to find a guy to fix our fence and get someone in about a damp patch on the wall. Does he not realise that I have important things to fit in like afternoon naps and raspberry leaf tea drinking? Grrr...

AdelaideJo · 19/02/2008 17:10

Hi Mummies,

Hope everyone is well and excited about our pending arrivals, can I just ask a quick question..?
Does anyone know of an online retailer who sells Raspberry Leaf Tea BAGS not tea leaves? Also, why is it so recommended? (excuse the ignorance). I'm 36+1 and thinking I ought to start drinking it up!

SpaceHopperHayls · 19/02/2008 17:31

Good grief...shouldn't have told the Bump yesterday that it should feel free to arrive now that my birthday was out of the way.

Water broke at 11 this morning, we went to the hospital as advised, and they sent us home after a check saying that we should go back at 8 in the morning, if nothing happens before then. Bloke was most unimpressed by my vagueness...he came home for lunch and I greeted him with, 'Um, I'm not sure, but I think that my water might have broken.' Now we're just waiting for some more definite contractions...all I have at the moment is something that feels a little tight across my belly.

So, by this time tomorrow, hopefully I'll be a parent. It suddenly feels very very real...

littleducks · 19/02/2008 17:36

Everyone is popping all over the place! Im shocked, as i dont think my bump will be here for a while yet, 5 weeks to go and dd was late.

Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to strenghthen uterine musclkes making contractions more effective and to shorten pushing bit. Holland and barrett, tesco and most health food shops sell them, but be warned they are yucky!

turtle23 · 19/02/2008 17:46

HQ-I measured myself, so I know I'm changing!! I have a very very good mortgage advisor if you want the number. He's fab and he's free.
So excited about all these babies!!

turtle23 · 19/02/2008 17:48

derah- will be dead impressed if you go into labour tomorrow like in my dream! Although if that comes true, I will be worrying that I will give birth to a monkey, be back in school, and that I won a million pounds but gave it all away. (other dreams this week)

OP posts:
derah · 19/02/2008 17:50

Goodness, now SHHalys too!!? This is all so very exciting! I wonder if it has anything to do with the almost full moon?

I've been wondering what might happen tonight since all my contraction or similar episodes have been on a Tuesday night so far! I'm definitely going to put DH to work this evening ....

derah · 19/02/2008 17:52

Turtle - I had a dream that my best friend and I both had triplets on the same day! But I'll be dead impressed if your dream comes true. I think you're probably safe with the monkey thing though, unless DH is particularly hairy?

Glammama · 19/02/2008 17:57

Wow, another one. Good luch SHH, thinking of you.

Please don't let my waters break as it'll be an emergency section. Think I'm going to wear big pants made of bubble wrap till the 28th.

You know, I don't think my waters even contain enough energy to break right now. Lifting the squash bottle repeatedly throughout the day is enough to floor me. I'm not sleeping due to nausea, indigestion and upset stomach. DP reckons my hitherto recently dormant IBS has flared up due to nerves. Just fed up of feeling sick. Sorry for the whinge.

Have been cheered up by ordering the fab nightie you posted about on another thread merry. And the lovely Mamas and Papas woman waived delivery as it was out of stock up west so I'm getting it posted to me for nowt. And I got a ten minute advice session on Caesereans, now that's service for you.

Hope everyone's LOs are staying nice and safe for now, unless you want them out, in which case, Come On Down!!

feedmenow · 19/02/2008 18:01

Blimey! Marchmum and Hayls?!?!? It's all go round here isn't it?

I still have 4 weeks left. Don't finish work til next Thursday and am really starting to feel it TBH. Although am part time, so will slog on til I planned.

Got in to work today to find my Helios homeopathy kit had been delivered, plus my TeNS machine. then later on the travel system was delivered! Now just waiting for Natures Nest and I'll be sorted!

My SIL is still in hospital with pre-ecampsia and will be for the duration now. She is 33+5. Depending on the results of the 24 hours urine test they are doing at the weekend, they may well take action on Monday. But they have estimated the baby's weight at 4lb 9oz as of yesterday, which I think is pretty good really?

Anyway, hope things are going to/have gone to plan MM and hayls!

fitnfortyone · 19/02/2008 18:10

SHH - all the best for tomorrow if nothing tonight, full moon & lunar eclipse coming up tomorrow night! See, that's what you get for ignoring girl dog's nesting, they know you know!
HQ try london and country or see www.moneysavingexpert.com/mortgages/best-mortgages-cashback
for good advice if you don't know about that site already

And for those who hate raspberry leaf tea, ignore the advice on the packet saying to steep for 5 minutes, it tastes much better (as do all herbal and green teas) if you leave in no more than 2 mins...you don't get that bitter aftertaste then.

Right, who's next? Can't be me as I have a haircut plus 3-4 visitors at various times during the day tomorrow!

PurlyQueen · 19/02/2008 18:29

Crumbs - another one! Good luck Hayls!

HolidaysQueen · 19/02/2008 18:37

Heavens! We've held on for so long and now it looks like the babies are going to start appearing left, right and centre. Good luck with it all Hayls!

Thanks for mortgage advice, turtle and fitn41. DH did at least get as far as a shortlist (using moneysavingexpert I think), but I have to do the ringing round checking Ts & Cs, working out what forms we need to fill in etc.

Just had my first cup of rasp leaf. Bloody horrible, but made a bit better by addition of honey and sipping only a little bit at a time. Took me 15 mins to drink it. Bleugh.

feedmenow - thank you! you've just reminded me I need to order my TENs machine. I keep forgetting. Going to do it right this minute so I don't forget again.

merryberry · 19/02/2008 19:20

oh good, once they pop they just can't stop...

deffo add a peppermint teabag to the rlt as well to help make it better. it is a comfy nightie glam and looks great from front and sides. but oh my arse is truck sized from the rear now. did your ibs go into remission with PG? i don't have it, but wheat eating gives me the trots useually, but not it seems during PG. i'm assuming cos immune system is dialled down so much?

SpaceHopperHayls · 19/02/2008 19:28

Thanks or all of your good luck messages. Still nothing...

TMI alert - am sat in my dressing gown on two folded bath towels on the sofa, willing my contractions to start properly. Tried to pass the time by taking the dogs for a walk, but Bloke burst out laughing when he saw the big wet patch on my trousers from behind, so I stayed in and sulked. That stuff that the books say about the baby's head acting like a cork, and it not running out of you if you stand up and walk around is rubbish.

Can't believe that I was moaning yesterday about Girl Dog's frenzied nesting - I know that Boy Dog is probably the dumbest dog in the world, but Girl Dog is clearly cleverer than we thought...

JFly, I hope that your dogs are better soon. We give ours plain pasta cooked in unsalted water for runny tummies - they'll eat it far more readily than some other bland foods.

I've really enjoyed drinking raspberry leaf tea. Oddly enough, just had my last bag.

tori32 · 19/02/2008 19:40

wow!We are just like buses! Nothing comes for a while, you then you get 2 in a row! Good Luck marchmum and SHH
