Hooray for MarchMum!!! And welcome to her little one! All very exciting....

Lovely to meet some new people at the meetup today, and thanks to Littleducks for helping me get DD's buggy down the escalators at the Tube station. DD had a lovely time and will be talking about going on the choo choo for days to come!!!

I think I'm done nesting, all I want to do today is curl up on the sofa. Which is a relief... I'm sick of cleaning!!!

timmyinatizzy · 22/02/2008 16:11

Congrats to MarchMum.

It was lovely meeting everyone is person, but I was still tempted to call people by their MN name!!!.

Derah - Can I ask where your bag was from? I think I've fallen in love with it.

PurlyQueen · 22/02/2008 16:24

Wonderful news about MarchMum!

Apologies for not making it to the meet-up earlier today - the spirit was willing but the body was weak .

derah · 22/02/2008 16:49

Timmy - the bags are called Sammies from Samsonite and there are lots of different ones. I got mine as a leaving prezzie from work but I think they found it on eBay.

doup76 · 22/02/2008 16:56

What great news from MarchMum!!!!

Glammama · 22/02/2008 17:28

That's fab about marchmum.

Sorry I missed the meet up. Not left the bed flat all day but must get myself into gear as I really need to buy milk as I promised DD pancakes for breakfast. DD isn't here btw, I'm not quite that neglectful! She's in Brighton for the day with some friends.

Derah, I have a ladybird Sammies bag. They're fab. Derah, look away now......

merry sorry about your hand. Ouch and ouch again. You asked about my IBS a while back. Usually disappears in pregnancy although for about 3 months up to Nov I wasn't well at all with it.

Did anyone watch My Street last night on ch4? I was sobbing buckets at the end. Mind you my sobbing has got out of control recently. On Wed eve I went for a bath. Found a hairy toe I can't reach to do anything about , then couldn't get out of the bath and I also felt a bit sick so I started sobbing. After I had stopped sobbing and DP was helping me out of the bath, I heard that terrible (sorry, I don't like it) Chasing Pavements song on the Brits awards and I hate that song so much I started sobbing again.

Aren't you glad I didn't come today?

piggyp · 22/02/2008 17:29

Congratulations to Marchmum!
Wish I'd been able to make the meet up - bit of a trek from Norfolk!

JFly · 22/02/2008 17:51

Congrats March/Febmum! What good news. Can't wait to hear more.

Poor Glam. I watched that program as well and I was nearly crying but fought it off somehow. So emotional, I know. Great program though.

Lovely to meet everyone today, although short but sweet for me. Went on afterwards to meet up with NCT lot for lunch. Woman who gave birth on Monday was there!!

She looked amazing, let DH take baby home while she stayed 2 hours for lunch! She's setting a very high standard and we're all a bit disappointed that she didn't look haggard and lumpy. Her little girl was gorgeous and tiny and asleep. Bliss! Anyway, we were actually very happy for her, but in awe of her energy and good humour. I can only hope!

derah · 22/02/2008 18:08

Glammama - I have the ladybird backpack, that's the one that Timmy covets was admiring! My friend has the penguin courier bag which is what got me thinking they're so gorgeous to start with.

MissingMyHeels · 22/02/2008 18:09

Congrats MarchMum! Can't wait to hear the birth story.

Again, great to meet you all today. For the Surrey ladies I have been sent a link to this as I know I was talking about classes for babies at some point and this looks quite interesting albeit fairly new as the website isn't completely up and running.

Should we try and do some text buddy action so that we can add a Mumsnetter to the list of people to text when our little angels make an appearance?

MissingMyHeels · 22/02/2008 18:10

JFly - your NCT friend sounds like an uber yummy Mummy, hard act to follow or what!! Maybe it just hasn't hit her yet?!

derah · 22/02/2008 18:16

Good idea Lauren... we should pair up into text buddies with people with due dates quite far from our own (or both people might have babies at once and then who would do the posting?!)

MissingMyHeels · 22/02/2008 18:25

Dates Thread

Maybe everyone can look at the dates thread and we'll work it out from there? Lots of us regular posters are the first half of March. Missing lots of people from the original list aren't we?!

Also, newcomers, do you want to add yourselves on? I wonder how SpaceHopperHayls is getting on.

CricketsMum · 22/02/2008 18:57

Great to meet some of you today... only been back about an hour - ended up schlepping round Oxford Street for far too long then almost had a tearful temper tantrum in John Lewis when they insisted that I had to go up 2 floors to exchange something ... decided it was time to come home round about then!

MissingMyHeels- thanks for the link re baby classes... what was the directory you mentioned too??

turtle23 · 22/02/2008 19:08

Glammama and I are officially text buddies, so I will be regaling you with baby details THIS TIME NEXT THURSDAY! EEK! Good luck, Glam!

Thanks Turtle! Only 6 days to go

Toe update.......contorted in the shower(possibly rather dangerously ) and toe is no longer offending my sensibilities.

Derah I liked the penguin too, they're really wonderful bags. I'm taking 3 bags to hospital and my Sammie is going to be my easy access bag with my nappy stuff, pads, toothpaste, chocolate, etc. As it's got a changing mat in it'll be so useful. I'm going to get DP to refresh the contents when necessary as I don't think I'll be doing much bending or lifting for a few days.

Glammama · 22/02/2008 19:39

OMG, DP has just rung me from a dark unnamed country road somewere in Kent (we live in East London). The engine of his motorbike has blown up and is completely, utterly dead. Luckily it didn't happen on the motorway and DP's ok. But, he's stuck in the middle of nowhere, has to find out where he is to tell the AA, has to wait for another courier to come and collect the remaining packages on board and then wait for the AA. Oh, and he's also delivering a very heavy package by hand up this muddy road as he can't drive to deliver it.

And now he has no job as no bike = no courier job. Tbh, I hated him doing this job but this wasn't what I wanted to happen.

And we're having a baby in 6 days.

MissingMyHeels · 22/02/2008 19:50

Oh no Glamma - so sorry to hear that. Doesn't sound like you have had a very good week

At least your DP is ok and am sure the AA will get him sorted and home to you soon as poss. Get yourself some ice-cream/chocolate/wine or treat yourself to something that you'll really enjoy. You deserve it!

turtle23 · 22/02/2008 20:23

Oh Glam...that really is s**t. Try not to worry, these things have a way of working out. If he wants to be the world's only old Corsa courier he's welcome to borrow my car!! If he's going to be out of work, the timing's actually quite good as he will be around to lift and carry for you? Chin up, duck, I'll bring you pancakes. Oh and hey...at least you no longer have toe trauma!

Glammama · 22/02/2008 20:44

Thanks, ladies. Turtle He doesn't have a car license but a very kind offer.
Missing I might hack at a banana pecan choclate cake I made yesterday.

I'm chatting to DP now as he has MSM on his PDA. AA are going to be aother hour and he's cold and a bit scared of the wind in the trees. Apparently it's all a bit Blair Witch. Poor DP.

Annoyingly AA will only take him back to the address he's registered at which is his Dad's in North London, so hope LO does not decide to put in an early appearance as DD has a friend for sleepover at the mo.

I think this is a sign that he's not supposed to be doing this shitty job anymore and at least he can finish the half papered bedroom and paint it before Thursday now

Always a silver lining, I guess.

tori32 · 22/02/2008 22:51

Congratulations marchmum, great to hear all went smoothly and look forward to looking at some pics. Really your birth is done and dusted as I am getting nervous now.
Really pleased the meetup was good and sorry I couldn't get there. I had my last working day today and start mat leave on monday I am so ready for it.
Turtle I will tx you as well if its ok as I still have your number or merryberry, if LO arrives.

turtle23 · 22/02/2008 22:55

tori...that sounds good to me. Be aware though that we are due the same day!! I'll be texting you as well to let you know whether the pool fulfilled its destiny!!

tori32 · 22/02/2008 22:59

sorry about your DH glamma. I hope everything gets sorted out for you soon, sending you a {{hug}}

tori32 · 22/02/2008 23:00

Cool, I am really excited and youbeing in the pool. Hope it all goes well for you and that the pool fulfills its potential this time!!!

timmyinatizzy · 23/02/2008 08:44

Derah - Thanks for that. Have just found them on ebay and have ordered the Penguin bag. Can't wait for it to get here. You won't have to closely guard your bag now at the next meet up!!! Although I think your dd would probably stop me.
