I was just wondering how many are there of us . . .

I am due end of June and love my antenatal thread as there is so much good advice there but thought it may be nice to share a little with others who are new to this whole thing too.

Anyone interested?

Morning Fellow First Timers!

How is everyone today? It's been pretty quiet on the thread recently ...

MrsH - found myself getting really into Jeremy Kyle the other morning even though I hate him. It really is compulsive viewing!!

bitofadramaqueen · 20/03/2008 13:02

TJUIce - according to this mozarella is fine and feta bought in the UK is fine.

Hello

I just realised I didn't put myself on the dates list - anyway I am 5 days overdue with my 1st and induction is looming which kinda terrifies me...

Anyway, TJuice I just got Raspberry Leaf Teabags from the health food shop and have been drinking 2 cups a day. It really makes you pee though!!! It is meant to have some benefit for the muscles in the uterus and can allegedly encourage contractions to either intensify or kick off if you are ready to go... Hasn't worked for me so far but hey - I had major contractions and the baby was fully engaged 2 weeks ago only for it to completely disengage and for everything to stop. MW says cervix has thinned and 2cm dilated though so the cntrxns mustve done sumthin!!! Sorry if TMI

Anyway, hello to everyone and hope you're all surviving.

champagnesupernova · 20/03/2008 17:08

That's good news about the dilation P1T (i love your name btw) but scary about the induction - it'll all be fine, I'm sure.

Tjuice, I'm doing fine, I'm not really feeling any twinges or anything but I haven't been taking any Raspberry tea or doing anything to bring labour on, I must say I'm quite happy for this baby to stay where it is for a while, I know where it is and how to look after it!!

I am worried that I'm going to miss the kicks when the baby's born - do you know what I mean?

TJuice · 22/03/2008 12:51

that's so funny, champagne! i know what you mean too. i went to waterstones yesterday and saw "the baby owner's manual" and thought it could be written for me. but i didn't actually buy it - i bought "what to expect - the first year" but will prolly not read it until desperate!

after a really quiet day chez womb ( i started getting worried) i ate loads of lovely chinese and had hours of serious kicking. must be the msg or something . . .

have a great easter everyone!

MrsHOP · 23/03/2008 08:43

Morning ladies,

well here I am up again before everyone else - the house is littered with DH's friends sleeping off their hangovers... I think they are all panicking as the babies are on their way and they think life will end or something...

It's snowing and I just got excited thinking about a little boy running around being excited in the garden!

Well we went yesterday and bought a buggy - got an ICandy Apple - really liked the demo and everything, but have since read a few bad reviews (more good ones though) - I guess it is just one of those things you are never going to know until you give it a proper test with a baby and roads/pavements etc to contend with.

Also got a great carseat - the Concorde ultimax which is kept in the car, extends up to the age of 4 (or a certain height) and it seems really good and solid. Again, very few reviews on this but all these seemed good...

not much else to report - finding it hard to keep myself interested in things that don't involve baby stuff or food...

1stTimer, champagne, any news?

Kaz1967 · 23/03/2008 10:52

Hello everyone Well this sexy tummy support |I have is making Bump really quiet not doing as much in the way of somersaults but I am starting to get some very definite kicks rather than just movements Sometimes it feels like they are throwing a real wobbly and stamping their little foot as if they are throwing a tantrum because they are fed up of this sexy support.

Oh and after a long discussion last week I have decided to make a really big move up north to be nearer my best mate (we are more like sisters). I was intending moving up there for uni anyway in 2 years time and have spoken to the college in Boston and my tutor and looks like it is very feasible. My best mate has actually looked at a flat in the same village she lives in an I am going up there tomorrow and am looking at it on Tuesday

Hope everyone is well an enjoying the chocolate

carrieHD9 · 24/03/2008 21:21

Hi all, just wondered what prams people are looking at/ have bought? We're in quite a country area so reckon we'll need one that can handle bumpy lanes, but am very close to the village centre so will mainly be going from house straight out. We've got a tiny car and no plans to get a better or bigger one so it needs to be pretty small (suspect pram going to cost more than the car did!). I am getting entirely confused with the whole business- looked at the bugaboo bee, but it looks like it's great for cities, less so for bumpy country lanes, then at the bugaboo chameleon one, which looks like it could be okay? Does anyone have any recommendations? Also have people bought off Ebay? we're planning to if we can-

pigleychez · 24/03/2008 22:36

Hi everyone,
hope everyone enjoyed Easter.

Carrie- Not really sure what your wanting in a pram but i bought this one:

here

Many people have commented on how like the bugaboo it is.

Features i wanted were a lay flat/carrycot pram mode and a seat that could face both towards you and away (forwards).

Had a little play with it in the house but bubbas not due till July so no real life test as such.

As for buying off Ebay. Thats where we got this from. Its selling in Mothercare with the matching car seat for £500 but we got it brand new from an ebay baby shop for £350.

Hope that helps you in so way as i know how confusing it is with all the different prams available!

PregnantPenguin · 25/03/2008 07:52

Morning fellow Newbies

Pigley - that is a lovely looking pram.

Carrie - I live in London and am expecting to use our pushchair on pavements/public transport only. We liked the look of the Mothercare Trenton (similar to Graco) and thought we would get this new because it is so reasonably priced. In the end we checked ebay and got a lovely one for just £30. This was perfect for us because if after a couple of weeks of using it, we hate it, we'll have no qualms about putting it up on freecycle for someone else.

Honestly, I think you could spend forever looking at them. Mothercare and Mumsnet have got some very good review pages though which emphasis things like foldability for car boots.

It really has been quiet on here recently. Any news on: Loobyt (due Feb 9th), Fluffsuptheduff (due 2nd March), turtle23 (due 23 March) or
champagnesupernova (due 24 March)?

I'm off to the hospital this morning for my 28 week midwife appointment (at 28-5) and the rheus negative injection - ouch, sore bum! Will let you know how I get on. Think I'm going to be told that I'm fairly large for my dates. My bump is huge!

Kaz1967 · 25/03/2008 09:46

PP me too I feel like a pregnant hippo blush

Off to look at the flat this affy so fingers crossed it's ok position and price are perfect.

MrsHOP · 25/03/2008 10:23

Penguin - I too have to have the RH Neg injection - is it in the bum then?! Argh - Let me know how you get on - I am 23 weeks so mine isn't until May...

Also got my internal scan this week - cervix check. Am slightly worried that no-one else seems to be having this but I guess the more check ups the better!

good luck with flat Kaz...

Anyone else getting a bit bored of being pregnant? I feel guilty saying this and also I have 17 weeks to go so shouldn't be bored already, but am finding it a bit dull... especially over the last weekend when most of my mates were either out clubbing or sleeping off their hangovers... Not that I would rather be in their situation - I just wish more were in my situation IYKWIM!

MissChika · 25/03/2008 10:56

Morning ladies!

Hope everyone had a good Easter weekend?? As usual I had loads of things that I wanted to get done but ended up not doing any of them. Ho hum.

Kaz, good luck with the flat viewing today. Hope it all goes well.

Penguin - good luck with midwife appointment too.

MrsH - I know what you mean about being preggers. Friends keep re-arranging things that they have planned near to my due date so I can go along but I don't think all day/all night parties are going to be my thing when I'm 36 weeks pregnant!! Nice thought though! I'm just looking forward to meeting the little one now - feeling pretty impatient.

Oh and I also feel like a creaky old woman at the moment. I'm only 26 weeks and having problems getting in and out of the car already

Hope everyone has a good day!

M x

PregnantPenguin · 25/03/2008 12:15

Good luck with the flat Kaz.

What a morning! Got to hospital and they didn't realise I was having my normal 28 week midwife appointment as well as the RH Neg injection....anyway as they are preparing everything for the jab, they discovered they didn't have my original booking bloods (which I had late because they 'lost' me) test results. After a very, very long search, they decided print out from my record would be fine if signed by two midwifes. When they printed it out they realised that my record and another ladies had become mixed. They only had one set of results for us both and don't know who the results were actually for!!! In their defence, we share the same DOB, but names and addresses and due dates very different. So after 3 hours they decided that they would re-do my booking bloods and we'd go from there. So instead of going into work I am now working from home (opps), hoping that they will ring me with my results this afternoon. IF I still need the jab, I'll have it this afternoon/tomorrow morning. What a mess. But thank goodness they found out now before I was in labour or anything!

Anyway, good news Mrshop, you choose whether you want the injection in your arm or bum.

Also, despite thinking I was HUGE, (so much so I was looking up gestional diabetes last night), the bump is just 29cm. Exactly as it should be, which means I will be getting even bigger!! Not bored with being pregnant as much as I am bored with being so big and uncomfortable. Terrified (in a good way) about the next stage though.

Kaz1967 · 25/03/2008 13:29

Love the flat they have dropped the price too just have too sell my place now

not feeling fed up of being pregnant but not really enjoying it fed up of all aches and pains

PregnantPenguin · 25/03/2008 15:19

Great news Kaz! Really happy for you.

Just found out that the mortgage application we submitted over a month ago hasn't even been looked at yet.

I have a horrible feeling the house we want just isn't meant to be, not before the LO's born at any rate.

Kaz1967 · 25/03/2008 21:02

Nooo what a pain PP at least mine will be cash as it will be the equity of the house The estate agent has arranged 4 people to look at my house this week and has another 6 who want to see it I am now going to give them a 9 week completion time ;) how do you think they will cope with that [hehehe] I want to move by the first week in June so I am no more than 34 weeks and have at least week before this little one is most likely to put in an appearance

carrieHD9 · 25/03/2008 21:26

Kaz goodness, I don't envy you moving at 34 wks but it sounds like you are totally up for it so will be bursting with energy!

MrsHOP/MissC, I do know what you mean- kind of would like to spend the remains of the pregnancy in the stage I was at about 3 wks ago, very definately pregnant but still fairly nimble and getting about easily. Putting my tights on for work this morning was quite a palaver and it will only get worse... also feeling a bit envious of people's exciting summer travelling/ festivals plans- once the baby's here know I won't be bothered or care but hearing people plan things now- would be delighted to hear more people were pregnant and will be joining me in the park!

PregnantPenguin · 25/03/2008 21:49

I'm with you Carrie. Being pregnant is fine but could it please be more convenient (I'd like to be able to do my own shoe laces up please) and comfortable.

Good luck Kaz. DH came home and pointed out to me that we are in a big enough house already (easily) which is cheaper by at least £5,000 a year, is still convenient for transport etc... The money could mean the difference btw me going back to work 3 days a week instead of 4, that kind of thing. You know when you get hung up on something you want but really don't need (eg: an expensive pair of shoes/handbag) and you get so caught up in it all, you forget that it won't actually make you happy. Think that's where my head's been. So whilst it'd still be nice to move, it's not that important in the overall scheme of things. Not that I've let DH know how right he is, don't want him getting too smug!

carrieHD9 · 25/03/2008 22:08

PP, exactly. I'm also on the cusp of looking occasionally stylish in my maternity wear, not for long though! Also starting to get stuck on the sofa/ in the bath- a friend told me she got completely stuck in the bath towards the end of her pregnancy and was discovered, crying piteously, by her husband who had to hoist her out!

Also 3 days a week vs. 4, how marvellous would that be!
