Oh dear don't worry! It's this your first electric pump pumping of milk (sorry maybe that was mentioned before) ? I got a lot less my first go. Plus I found early morning I got more than any other time of day. I'm actually pumping just now as OH used both my pumped bottles on Rowan when I was asleep so there are none left for the early morning when I usually hand over to him. Bit peeved with that as I'm getting hardly any milk now. You need ti hold the medela pump too. Well the one I have you do.

PurplePansy05 · 17/08/2021 23:19

@Ready2020 Yes it was my first time and I hated it, as you can tell. I don't think this electric pumps business is for me. I can't imagine sitting there holding both pumps (itsa double but can be used as single). I tried on one and on both breasts and it was useless. My Haakaa has just collected more in seconds 😭

I bet you're peeved, I would be too! xx

Ready2020 · 17/08/2021 23:21

@PurplePansy05 I think it's worth giving it another go but doing it in they morning plus you need to be relaxed and let the milk flow. It really took me a few goes at first.

PurplePansy05 · 17/08/2021 23:27

Thsnks @Ready2020, I'll try again tomorrow morning when I'm hopefully but probably not less tired and in a better mood 🤣 I need to remember about my oxytocin ...xx

Hey everyone! Just popping on to say that our little Ethan Benjamin was born this lunch time by c-section. We’re completely in love 🥰

Magik01 · 17/08/2021 23:50

Congratulations @Millymay13 🎉 how did you find the section? Was it your first? Get plenty of rest xx

@PurplePansy05 hope you feel better in the morning lovely, most electric breast pumps you have to hold unfortunately. However you can buy bras that have holes in them so the pump sits in the bra if that makes sense?

PurplePansy05 · 18/08/2021 00:12

Congratulations @Millymay13, beautiful names! Hope you're both doing well Flowers xx

PurplePansy05 · 18/08/2021 00:22

Thank you @Magik01. I feel like an idiot, I've assumed that the pumps are made for womens' relative comfort (although not sure how having one's nipples pulled can ever be put in one sentence with comfort).

How naive of me 🤦🏼‍♀️ Why would this be the case, we're only feeding human beings 20 times a day Hmm I really should have read up more or asked more on here but my brain is too tired...

I've also spent another £50 on bf bras that aren't for pumping, I didn't know such a thing existed 😭😭😭

My lovely HV told me DS will be going through a growth spurt later this week and might feed more. He didn't put weight on either. I fed him more today for fucking hours and he's even worse than normal, screaming blue murder right now. It's not even that growth spurt yet. I have totally failed, nothing is working anymore. I'm going to give up on this stupid bf tomorrow, the whole thing is bloody bonkers. I rip my fucking guts open for him and it's never enough 😭 xx

PurplePansy05 · 18/08/2021 00:24

And DH is going back to work now and I just cannot imagine this on my own tbh. I think this is making everything so much worse. xx

Millymay13 · 18/08/2021 00:24

@Magik01 Thank you! Yes it was my first section and it was good. My blood pressure dropped at the beginning which was the most uncomfortable thing of the whole procedure and they gave me medication to help really quickly so was fairly short lived. They had quite a bit of trouble getting him out because he was breech and tucked up under my ribs but he had no option by then but to come out!
The theatre staff were all lovely and took great care of me/us, it really was a good experience 😊

Magik01 · 18/08/2021 01:09

@PurplePansy05 this too shall pass is a mantra that a lot of mums use and I’ve used myself. But remember a happy mum means a happy baby as well. Your not a failure in the slightest! You’ve grown a wonderful little human being.

It can be super difficult when your in a state of sleep deprivation, it makes things a million percent worse. But I guarantee once you get some decent rest you can look at the situation with fresh eyes. All your hormones will also lost probably be affecting your milk supply- remember relax, and plenty of the love hormone will help when pumping. Try looking at baby Leo (when he’s sleeping maybe, screaming baby isn’t going to help 🤣) or pictures of him when pumping, I found that helped when I exclusively pumped the first time around.

At this very moment Isaac is asleep on me. I’ve yet to try and put him down mainly because I know he will wake up in pain again. Feel so helpless but obviously can’t keep this up forever.

@Millymay13 glad you had such a positive experience! I think a drop in blood pressure is normal, I had it too such made me feel sick but they soon gave me anti sickness for it Smile

Magik01 · 18/08/2021 01:12

@PurplePansy05 and it is very daunting when the other half goes back to work. Do you have any family close by who can help out if needed?

Ready2020 · 18/08/2021 02:04

@PurplePansy05 oh my dear, I've had my dark moments on this as well and when I needed to I used a bottle to get me through until I could turn back to the boob. But if you need to use bottles exclusively then that's OK! You need to find your way to enjoy this as much as you can. Stress will not help your milk either. See how you feel tomorrow. But you are not a failure at all!!

Ready2020 · 18/08/2021 02:05

Oh and congrats @Millymay13

WolfMother326 · 18/08/2021 02:36

Hello all. Our sweet baby boy (name pending) was born on his due date yesterday evening by emergency c section, following a very fast and very dramatic (traumatic?) induction and possible placenta failure. From first real contraction to delivery was 1 hour 45 minutes and terrifying. Hearing him cry and holding him when he emerged was the biggest relief I have ever felt.
He's thriving now, and DH and I are so besotted with him. I wasn't at all prepared for a section but am rolling with it. Baby has already fed and is sleeping in his bassinet as other babies scream on the postnatal ward.
PS the pink newborn hat was made for me by my late grandmother. Everyone keeps thinking he's a girl but that's fine Smile

Due August 2021 - Welcome to the World!
BertieBotts · 18/08/2021 02:36

I am still in labour. I don't know why I have such long labours. We've finally been allowed into a private room!

Magik01 · 18/08/2021 02:48

Congratulations @WolfMother326 he’s beautiful! How heavy was he? Hope you make a speedy recovery xx

@BertieBotts sending good vibes your way! Good luck!

Ready2020 · 18/08/2021 03:02

If anyone knows how to get a baby from laid back position onto the bed without waking them, please let me know! I relented and just fed her lying down but now my nip hurts! My own fault for an easy night.

Congratulations @WolfMother326 and @BertieBotts good luck!

WolfMother326 · 18/08/2021 03:03

@Magik01 thank you! He weighs 7lbs4oz, which is 8oz less than the growth scan estimated the day before!

Millymay13 · 18/08/2021 03:47

@WolfMother326 Congratulations! That sounds so quick and scary, I hope cuddles with your little one are helping you cope.

@BertieBotts you are doing amazingly, well done! Thank goodness for a private room at last xx

PurplePansy05 · 18/08/2021 04:36

Congratulations @WolfMother326, he's beautiful 😍 I'm glad it went ok, thank god they've identified the placenta issue, it sounded scary when you said what's happened. You've had a crazy quick and whirlwind delivery too, take time to rest snd recover now. So pleased for you Flowers xx

@BertieBotts good luck! I hope all is going well! xx

@Magik01 @Ready2020 I've decided to perservere and investigate why DS still hasn't put weight on. I gave him a big feed after I posted and had him in with me all night in the next to me. He started stirring again at 4 and I think DH may have been sleeping through it instead of giving him more of my night milk or bringing him to me for bf. So anyway he's now getting all the fatty milk as well as lovely cuddles. It broke me last night to see him so upset after I did everything possible to keep him fed, loved and happy, but I'm gonna have to get over myself and keep going. Thank you for your posts it genuinely helps so much to know we're going through the tough period together! xx

And no family available to help locally, unfortunately @Magik01 xx

Thanks for the birthday wishes ladies, I didn't go out with my friend in the end and she suggested that we could go once DS is back in school and go with baby instead which will be fine and nice to have someone to go with for an outing thag will help with baby so we decided on that instead. My mum came over and we sewed on some buttons to a couple of cardigans she's knitted for baby and then she cooked a lovely homemade lasagne for tea for all of us and her and DS made me a cake. I spent most of the morning crying in my pjs but the day ended well 🥰🥰

@PurplePansy05 you should get around 3 hours of pumping on a full battery, my friend used to get good output with it and she thought she had a shit supply. She never had to hold hers either ?? Maybe your suction isn't correct just yet? It will take a while to get used to

HopefulB · 18/08/2021 07:12

Congratulations @Millymay13 and @WolfMother326! Two more bundles of joy 🥰

Sorry you’re having a tough time @PurplePansy05, I have nil useful to add, you’re doing a great job. Don’t feel you have to pump, as you say it’s meant to be there for convenience, if it doesn’t help, just stick with the haakaa?
