Dropping in to say baby Isaac arrived this afternoon at 4.30. 8lb3 and an absolute dream so far 💕

Section was a bit more complicated than we’d hoped, but we had an AMAZING medical team who got everything sorted. Chilling on the ward now - “looking forward” to first walk around and catheter removal at about 12.30am.

The cheese omelette and beans the hospital just gave me was the GOAT meal 😁

BertieBotts · 16/08/2021 22:08

What is a goat meal? Lol

Congratulations!

I've been having more of a run of contractions tonight rather than just the odd one. Doesn't seem like labour starting yet but another sign moving closer.

sarah13xx · 16/08/2021 22:21

Congratulations on all the new arrivals ☺️ Best feeling in the world!

I have just gone through the ordeal of peeling off my c-section plaster thing. I’m on day 7 but I know elsewhere people have been told to remove theirs earlier. I did it in the bath but it all melted and was like glue coming off. Such a long drawn out process, would have been better just ripping it off 🙈 was also trying not to see the scar so I didn’t feel uneasy doing it 😂 I swear that was worse than the actual operation!

Angelesque · 16/08/2021 22:24

Greatest of all time 🤣🤣🤣 I’d not had a meal for over 24 hours, so was ravenous!!

Hope those contractions get more regular and baby comes soon!

Ready2020 · 17/08/2021 01:32

I've noticed more these days that I used to be able to feed Rowan to sleep at night (Co sleeping) but these nights she feeds, becomes drowsy then wakes up and just lays there awake. Sometimes arms flayling a bit but not asleep. Eventually she'll want another feed where she'll doze off then wake again after coming off the boob. Anyone else recognise this behaviour? I want her to sleep between feeds. I do try soothing her but sometimes think it makrs it worse.

BertieBotts · 17/08/2021 01:47

Does she need winding? She might just be a bit amazed at the world. I think newborns are often more active at night because it's dark and quiet and a bit less overwhelming for them. It's why people say they have their day and night mixed up.

Contractions went away earlier but then we had sex which brought them back. Instead of being ugh fine whatever get-this-baby-out sex for some reason something made me slow down and zen in and it was the nicest most relaxing sex we've had in weeks. There was heavy rain out of the window, we live directly next to a forest so rain is gorgeous as we can hear it in the trees and get that forest rain smell. Woke up around 2am and they were definitely stronger and more regular, so as of about 2:30, I've got up to eat some museli, take a couple of paracetamol and time them for a bit. They are 5-7 mins apart. My plan is to go back to bed around 3 with a hot wheat bag and see if I can get a couple of hours more sleep before disturbing anyone else and then see how I go at home until ideally around 6/7 at the earliest before I call my friend and see about dropping DS2 off! I had been thinking 5-1-1 for going into hospital but definitely don't feel a need to rush in after my doctor said the baby is engaged now, so might go for 3-1-1 instead, 3 in 10 mins as per NHS guidelines or just go by instinct.

Ready2020 · 17/08/2021 05:42

@Angelesque congratulations! Welcome baby Isaac.

I'm thanking the sleep gods as Rowan has been asleep in hee snuz pod for the last 10 minutes so I'm hoping she's there for the next couple of hours! Little victories! First time she's slept in there in about 5 days.

PurplePansy05 · 17/08/2021 06:42

@Angelesque congratulations 🥰😁

@BertieBotts ooo exciting! Hope things are progressing well for you

Baby decided to have a disco this morning, they clearly know its my birthday so having a party for me 😛

HopefulB · 17/08/2021 09:21

Happy Birthday @lucyrp! Hope baby stays put another day so you don’t have to share in future!

Congratulations @Angelesque!

Best of luck with the section today @Millymay13.

Finger crossed things are moving for you too @BertieBotts

Daffodil21 · 17/08/2021 09:29

Happy birthday @lucyrp 🥳 !

lucyrp · 17/08/2021 09:51

@HopefulB @Daffodil21 thanks 🥰 my friend has asked me to go out for dinner as a treat but I really don't even feel like leaving the house and trying to convince myself to go but think I'll just end up being grumpy if I go 🥲

Ava50x · 17/08/2021 10:05

Thanks for updating the list, @PurplePansy05. So exciting to read about all the babies coming along now!

@BertieBotts good luck! Hope you have a real quick first stage this time round and baby is in good position. Waiting for updates whenever you are able to! XX

@Angelesque congratulations!

@lucyrp happy birthday!! Hope you can enjoy your day even though you're probably so impatient...

Anyone else feeling a little low towards end of pregnancy? I feel like i've been pregnant forever, feeling so awful for so long and just very very fed up! Wishing to be over already and knowing it can be a full 3 weeks still (and well into September)

BertieBotts · 17/08/2021 10:10

Everything has been a bit start/stop so no luck of a faster early stage this time around! I've been resting as didn't get much sleep last night but once I have more energy if there are still contractions might try some walking to get things going.

lucyrp · 17/08/2021 10:13

@Ava50x thank you, yes and feeling a bit odd today as every day I've been hoping baby will arrive where as today I obviously would prefer if they didn't ... most days I end up crying at nothing and just feel like there's no end in sight. Especially after yesterday I was actually okay with being induced had got my head around it and not having my midwife led unit birth as long as baby was coming but I cried all the way home and now I just feel rubbish

Ava50x · 17/08/2021 10:54

@lucyrp yes that must be so disappointing! I totally get you...

Aaaaa1519 · 17/08/2021 11:32

@Angelesque congratulations

@lucyrp Happy birthday 🥳 Go out celebrate even though you don’t feel like it, you got to have your day to yourself & you never know tomorrow you could be pushing baby out.

BertieBotts · 17/08/2021 12:07

The list is so exciting with more babies born than expected now!

I don't think my little one is coming today but we'll see.

wimbler · 17/08/2021 16:20

Happy birthday @lucyrp. Could be nice to get out and try and enjoy yourself. The good hormones might get the baby going you never know! And it might be the last time for a while. Although I totally get that feeling of just wanting to hibernate too so you do whatever you feel is right!

@BertieBotts sending labour vibes! When my contractions stopped in the hospital a good walk around the grounds and car park while FaceTiming the in laws worked. My waters went less than an hour later! I’d recommend if you can muster up the energy. Or watch your favourite tv programme/film and bounce on a ball? Hoping you don’t have to wait too long

WinterBabyof89 · 17/08/2021 16:24

Happy birthday @lucyrp!

@BertieBotts sounds like things are going the right way! How exciting!!

BertieBotts · 17/08/2021 16:46

Well I was aiming just to rest but then I decided if I'm awake anyway, sitting/lying down while I contract is probably not helping so I have been getting up and moving every time I have a contraction. That seems to have made them a little stronger and more regular again.

Still in early labour (sigh) and it's surpassed DS2 so not my shortest. I am just worried about getting burnt out/exhausted again.

We are trying to decide what to do with DS2 now whether to put him to bed or take him to my friend's house first.

Magik01 · 17/08/2021 17:05

@lucyrp happy birthday! 🎉 I would go and celebrate as you never know when the next time you’ll get chance too!

@BertieBotts exciting times for you, hopefully your contractions don’t stop/start again. Sending positive vibes.

@Ready2020 did Rowan stay asleep in her bedside cot for long? Maybe she’s getting used to it now. I think Isaac has a bit of colic (if they can have it this young?) but at night he seems really uncomfortable lying down and is only happy being help. Not ideal.

@Angelesque congrats! Nice name as well Wink

MrsB2019x · 17/08/2021 17:20

Happy birthday @lucyrp hope you’ve had a lovely day ☺️

Ready2020 · 17/08/2021 17:45

@Magik01 she stayed in there for a few hours but had to be changed so was taken out. I didn't bother trying to put her back in after that. I think I'll keep trying to put her in but later on in the night maybe after we've had a chance at a snooze. Midwife said today that it just takes time to move her over every night so she's used to it. I'm waiting on my Euan dream sheep which will hopefully make the cot a nicer place to be.

I had the lactation midwife over today and was happy to hear I'm doing things right generally. She thinks my issues lie with the feeding position when lying down as apparently it's really hard to do properly. I just attach her how I can so don't really pay attention which is probably where I'm going wrong and she ends up not latched on right.

They showed me the laid back position again and I think I've finally got the hang of it. I managed to just do it myself with her just now and she's feeding away with no pain. So I'm going to try that tonight and hopefully she'll stay asleep from it enough to be put down even on the bed. Usually I rely on the sleep coma from the lie down position to get her to stay asleep as I don't need to move her much after.

PurplePansy05 · 17/08/2021 22:45

Right, so either I'm stupid or Bellababy is completely crap. It doesn't work. It's loud. Battery life is awful. I can't suck it into my tits and need to hold it?! Hmm

I charged it, DH set it up, I tried all the fancy settings and it did fuck all. It expressed about 5ml in 15 mins and the battery already dropped by one bar. I'm livid that I spent £50 on something as useless as this 😭😡 The instructions are pointless too, there's nothing in them. I watched four YT tutorials and I'm still none the wiser. I'm so tired and angry that I took it out on DH. I should have just sucked it up and bought Medela 😭😭😭 I feel like crying my tits out that I still won't be able to express a lot and just sleep. Ffs. xx
