@WinterBabyof89 We had the photoshoot yesterday and my goodness, DS was sooo scrumptious! 🥰😍 Really glad we decided to have it.

@notinthestarsigns Congratulations on the safe arrival of baby Erin, so happy for you 💐💐💐 xx

Thanks for the new thread! Though it’s made me realise I hadn’t actually updated on here 🙈

Baby Ella was born on 9th August at 8:45am after being induced on Sunday. It was a bit of a rough ride tbh, was pushing for over an hour but she couldn’t get round the bend of the birth canal, so we ended up in theatre for a ventouse (failed), forceps (also failed) then an eventual c-section. She was so bruised once she came out! 😢 But she is beyond beautiful and we’re so in love with her 🥰

Hope all you new Mummies are doing okay and the ones still to drop aren’t kept waiting too long! x

MrsB2019x · 14/08/2021 15:46

Oh, and she weighed 9lb4oz. 🥴😂

PurplePansy05 · 14/08/2021 15:51

Aww congratulations @MrsB2019x! Sorry it didn't go smooth for you but very glad to hear Ella is here safely 🥰💖 Hope you're both doing ok xx

lucyrp · 14/08/2021 15:55

@HopefulB I know just so hard when your impatient, was so hoping labour would just take me by surprise and I wouldn't be waiting but don't we all😂 thats also true I hadn't thought about that. I'll speak to MW on Monday and see what she says although she'll probably brush me off like usual. X

Did anyone that's spontaneously gone into labour either have diarrhoea or was sick before they went into labour ? I've just randomly been sick 🤢

@notinthestarsigns congratulations! 🥰

@MrsB2019x oh no sorry to hear it didn't go as planned but glad she is here and you're both well 🥰❤️

biscuitcat · 14/08/2021 16:44

@notinthestarsigns congratulations! Erin is a lovely name, so thrilled for you 🥰

@MrsB2019x congratulations to you too! Sorry to hear it was a difficult delivery - but all worth it I bet for Ella snuggles 💜

I'm just using my stretchy wrap for the first time and it's so brilliant! I love having him so close but also having my hands free. It's especially nice as I've been feeling really wobbly the past day or two, and getting so weepy about feeling rubbish with the feeding just being a right slog - we almost needed to go back into hospital today as Rowan just wasn't eating often enough but just as we were leaving we tried once more with a bottle (as he's being stubborn again latching, going to book a session with a consultant) and he had a huge big feed! So he's a stubborn little so and so but hopefully nice and healthy still.

Ready2020 · 14/08/2021 16:53

@biscuitcat stretchy wrap?

MrsB2019x · 14/08/2021 16:58

Thank you all 🥰 she’s totally worth every minute.

@biscuitcat What wrap have you got? I’d love to have one for when DH goes back to work. Ella loves a cuddle so isn’t a fan of being put down!

@lucyrp I’ve heard that your body does a sort of ‘clear out’ leading up to labour, I hope that’s it for you!

HopefulB · 14/08/2021 17:06

@Smurf123, sorry you had a tough night, did you manage to get a little rest once DH got back? Maybe a bath would help with the aches and pains? (Sorry I can’t remember if you have stitches which may prevent this).
Or maybe a bounce on birthing ball would release it (pop bubba in a sling?)

Congratulations @MrsB2019x and @notinthestarsigns🎉

PurplePansy05 · 14/08/2021 20:25

Ladies, question about lochia - is it normal to have what looks like cervical mucus in it? Definitely not clots, but looks like some CM the same colour as my discharge which is now pink/red/orangey. The bleeding has also picked up today, not sure why. Perhaps it's because I went for a long walk yesterday and tidied up the house this morning. I will be taking things easier tomorrow.

Second question is re breast pumps. I am actually expressing several times a day so DH can do one feed during the day and one at night. I like my Haakaa but I never thought I'd be expressing regularly. Would it be better to invest in an electric pump? Are they quicker to express milk and still build up the supply? Can I attach an electric pump to the breast I am not using when BF DS?

xx

Aaaaa1519 · 14/08/2021 20:30

@MrsB2019x congratulations

@lucyrp both are signs of labour approaching the body empties itself something to do with relaxing hormones

Aaaaa1519 · 14/08/2021 20:32

back at triage this evening for reduced movements again
pretty sure this mw has hooked it up wrong and I’m seeing my heartbeat its in the 110-20 range babies is usually 140-50.

Smurf123 · 14/08/2021 20:34

Thanks @HopefulB I really need to get a sling. Really not sure what one to get! I got a little rest. I'll be honest I've given in and given a dummy just to get a slight break this afternoon and stretch feeds from constant to every hr or 2 !
I hope that she can figure out the pooping.. she's tensing up so much that she's stopping herself from going 🙈
For now she is asleep in her pram and I have a takeaway on the way!

Aaaaa1519 · 14/08/2021 20:34

@PurplePansy05 the discharge is also normal as far as I remember. I used to get days where bleeding was heavier than other days usually like you said after being up and about

alittlexmasmagic · 14/08/2021 20:36

@notinthestarsigns that's the most wonderful news 🥰 Congratulations xx

Smurf123 · 14/08/2021 20:38

Hope all ok @Aaaaa1519 they told me baby's heart rate is usually between 110-160 when I was in for the ctg but like you dd was usually around the 140 point, maybe they are sleeping?

Congratulations @MrsB2019x and @notinthestarsigns

@PurplePansy05 I think it's normal? Mine had near enough stopped but has now started back up again .. hoping that's normal too

Daffodil21 · 14/08/2021 20:58

@PurplePansy05 manual pumping sounds exhausting! I've got an electric which didn't cost a lot. This is the one I have and I'd recommend it:

Electric Breast Pump, MOSFiATA... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MTXGXKB?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

Magik01 · 14/08/2021 21:04

Ahhh I just typed a long message and accidentally deleted it! Angry

Congrats @MrsB2019x sorry to hear it didn’t go so smooth but at least it’s over with now. How are you healing after all that?

@notinthestarsigns congrats as well! Hope you get discharged soon!

@PurplePansy05 I’ve heard it’s normal for bleeding to stop and start after a section, but I’ve never experienced that. In terms of a breast pump I would say if your pumping that regularly then it would be worth the investment. Maybe even just get a cheap one of amazon first to see if you will use it? With DS1 I got a pump for £20 off Amazon and it did the job for me.

@Aaaaa1519 sorry to hear your back up MAU, hopefully you get sorted soon!!

@Smurf123 have you tried bicycle legs for trapped wind? Hoping you have a better night tonight xx

lucyrp · 14/08/2021 21:37

@MrsB2019x not looking too hopeful which is a bit odd now wondering why I was sick!🥴

@PurplePansy05 the Bellababy pump is great, heard great things about it. Xx

biscuitcat · 14/08/2021 21:38

@MrsB2019x I've got a Boba - only used once but I like it so far! Though need to work on my thing I think, as it loosened a bit too quickly!

Does anyone know, what are hormones doing around day 5? I've been a weeping mess all day today over everything, just feeling like my body failed as it couldn't progress labour and now DS isn't latching properly to either breast. I'm usually so good at focusing on the positives - I've grown a beautiful, healthy, 9lb baby! But am so struggling at the moment with that, and I'm wondering if post-birth hormones are having an impact?

Aaaaa1519 · 14/08/2021 22:24

@biscuitcat it’s all those happy pregnancy hormones dropping back to normal levels. I was fine week 1 and then cried until week 3. I hope you’ve got enough support around you it is hard but you’ll feel better soon, accept any help that is offered you need to look after yourself to be able to look after baby. You’ve done something amazing it takes a while to process it all. x

Aaaaa1519 · 14/08/2021 22:27

Going to be induced in an hour or so and kept here until baby is out hopefully
The nerves have kicked in hard! Wish me luck ladies 😬

Ready2020 · 14/08/2021 22:38

@Aaaaa1519 good luck! Let us know how it goes and message any time as someone will no doubt be awake 😂

Ready2020 · 14/08/2021 22:50

Those with new babies, what are your arrangements with your partner? Do you sleep in same bed to share duties, separate rooms and do shifts? Or do a bit of everything for whatever it takes to get sleep?

PurplePansy05 · 14/08/2021 23:09

@biscuitcat Well I'm just crying my eyes out cause DS won't settle, just will not settle at all and won't latch on cause he's screaming his head off. DH just took him off me, think they're going for a drive. I have been feeling mostlg positive since he's arrived but honestly there are times that are so bloody hard. Hormones make everything worse too. Big hugs for you, there's two of us at least 💙💙 xx

Thanks all for your thoughts re lochia and breast pump recommendations.

This might be a stupid question, but if a pump is a double one (as in for both breasts) can it just be used on one breast whilst I BF with the other? xx
