@HopefulB I should finish at 5 but left at 6...😫

I did it ! I have finally finished work and oh my goodness the relief! I instantly feel so much more relaxed knowing I don't have anything I have to do😅 OH and I made it out for our date night which was lovely, now at home in bed🥰

PurplePansy05 · 01/08/2021 00:04

Glad you're relaxing now @lucyrp. Another thing I thought you could try is expressing colostrum maybe? It could speed things up, you never know xx

alittlexmasmagic · 01/08/2021 00:05

Happy August everyone... we should all be meeting our babies (unless the stubborn few hold off until September) xx

sarah13xx · 01/08/2021 04:06

Happy August.. it’s all feeling very real now!! 🎉

PurplePansy05 · 01/08/2021 06:02

Oh gosh indeed, I just opened my eyes, looked at the date on my watch and thought holy shit 😱😱😱 It's suddenly so real!!! Here we go, ladies, class of August 2021 assemble! xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 01/08/2021 07:09

Happy birth month ladies! We're so close now!!!! The final lap ❤️

ame88 · 01/08/2021 07:47

Soooo exciting!! I wish I had a magic wand and knew when she was coming 😂

Magik01 · 01/08/2021 08:57

Happy birth month everyone!!! Eeeek! It’s also the start of breastfeeding week I believe in the U.K. so my Instagram is full of beautiful pictures of mamas and their babies feeding. I saw this one though and thought it was important to share.

Due August 2021 - The Final Countdown continues...
BertieBotts · 01/08/2021 09:13

I kind of like the surprise aspect :o Am I totally nuts?? It's exciting! Even though stressful not knowing what will happen when.

RunnerGirl123 · 01/08/2021 09:56

Hey ladies, happy due date month!
I don't post often but have read most of your posts (I just always struggled to keep up with the conversation so never really chimed in haha).
Congrats to the ladies who have already had their little ones! Makes it all feel very real now.
I'm booked in for induction on my due date 11th August, so got max 10 days to go until we get things started, and a sweep booked in for Tuesday so I'm hoping that helps things start a but more naturally. I've been losing my mucus plug for weeks, and have tightenings most days, occasionally with period pains. I'm so on edge that things are going to start but I won't realise straight away!
Wishing everyone all the best in the lead up to your due dates, can't wait to hear about your little one's arrivals!

BertieBotts · 01/08/2021 09:57

Loving this series - not seen it before. I like it because it has all different kinds of births and lots of different positions, not just on the back screaming type.

Nice to hear from you @RunnerGirl123 - glad you've got things booked in!

Ahhhh it's finally August! I simultaneously feel like I've been pregnant for aaages but now it's August all of a sudden 😱

OP posts:
biscuitcat · 01/08/2021 12:19

Gosh how is it August already?! Even if baby goes two weeks over, they're going to be here in about 3/3.5 weeks! I'm not quite sure how I feel, I still don't think I quite believe that there's going to be a baby at the end of all of this 😂

Also just a thought for anyone, if anyone was thinking of booking their flu jab, you can do that now. I don't usually get one but thought that this year there's likely to be heaps of it around and I really don't fancy being poorly with a tiny baby, so booked through Boots today for mid-September

sarah13xx · 01/08/2021 12:19

38+3 today so decided I’d give colostrum harvesting a try (well a minor attempt) 🤣 came out the shower and just had a go to see if I even had the technique right. To my utter amazement colostrum appeared 😯 only the tiniest bit and I stopped because I’m so scared of it putting me into labour before my section but how amazing are our bodies?! 🤣 it wasn’t even enough that I could have got it in a syringe, was literally a small dot. Thinking I will try it once per day and tomorrow I’ll actually have the syringe beside me to collect some if I can.

How many days has it taken people who have done it to fill a 1ml syringe? If I could even get 5 or 10 syringes in the next week I’d be pleased!

Ava50x · 01/08/2021 12:43

Happy August everyone!! Cannot believe its already here... feel like time has flown and i've been pregnant for 5 years simultaneously!!

@Jessicapebbles huge congrats! Such a beautiful baby! Hope you are enjoying your well-deserved cuddles and recovering well from c-section.

@lucyrp I fully understand and share your anxiety re going later than last baby/big baby. My first 2 were born at 39 weeks, 3rd at 40+1. I was an absolute wreck and remember swearing to DH that this baby will never come... Thankfully he came the very next day and weighed 200g bigger than DS2- not too big at all. This baby is measuring a little bit smaller than DS3 did on scans so i'm hoping won't be too big... But I am frantic at the thought of going a week or two overdue. Just hoping it won't happen!!

My friend recently gave birth to DC2. Her first was a week early and a teeny 5lb. Her second was induced at 42 weeks and weighed all of 5lb 9oz. I wouldn't panic about size. And from what I hear, bigger babies seem to slide out so in the worst case if you do end up with a bigger baby, that will happen to you! (Totally talking to myself here as well).

On another note, I realize I don't have any decent nursing bras. Any suggestions for where I can go get measured in person? I hate buying and faffing online with these things... Want it to fit right first time! I used Mothercare in the past but need suggestions for something new!

PurplePansy05 · 01/08/2021 13:09

@sarah13xx I don't find it that easy at all to fill a syringe! I got several frozen with about 0.3ml in each, that's about how much I get in one go expressing before I get tired/bored/boobs go a bit mushy 😂 Think more will be coming out post partum for sure. We chatted on the previous thread I think that you can keep the syringe in the fridge for a short time and top it up if you want to have another go on the same day, but you need to remember to put it in the freezer after and its usability date and time will be your earliest expressing date and time. I have no memory at the moment though so decided to freeze straight away instead and not risk it going off if I forget to freeze later, it's hard work 🤣 Bought quite a few syringes instead xx

PurplePansy05 · 01/08/2021 13:11

@Ava50x Perhaps M&S or Bravissimo if you have either nearby? xx

WinterBabyof89 · 01/08/2021 13:14

@sarah13xx had to reply to your post (usually I’m lingering in the background) as I had the same experience the other day haha
I had a quick try to see if i could get anything (and then stopped like you because c section!) and it’s amazing when you see the little drop appear. I shouted my OH to look and was very pleased with myself - he tried his best to be encouraging but he doesn’t understand haha

Happy August ladies.

Congrats @Jessicapebbles - gorgeous baby!

biscuitcat · 01/08/2021 13:17

@sarah13xx I think it's an element of chance how much you can get - I can fill a 3ml syringe in about half an hour 😳 doing it consistently seems to help as well, I haven't done any since Friday as DH has been away and I didn't want to risk starting labour off, so I'll be interested to see if I'm still making lots when he's back and I start again.

sarah13xx · 01/08/2021 13:38

@biscuitcat wow, that’s a lot! I really didn’t give it a proper shot, just chanced it presuming nothing would happen! I’ll have a go each day next week and see if I get anywhere, just trying not to do it for long in case that means I’ll go into labour 🙈

@WinterBabyof89 haha glad it’s not just me! I felt like shouting him but I’ve already given him too much info on all of this type of stuff and I think it freaks him out 😂 I’ll wait and how him the syringe if I get one! I’d love to even just get 5 over the course of this week then that would do his first feed. Im thinking I could do it in hospital but it will probably be more of a faff when you don’t have heat to help. I’m not planning to breastfeed, just wanted to give colostrum before moving onto bottles. I think the risk of labour is probably really low unless you were to do it constantly and not stop when you felt a pain.. but it still worries me the whole time, which probably doesn’t help you produce it 😂

@PurplePansy05 thanks il have a look back. I might have to just do drop by drop into a syringe and see if I get anywhere 🙈

PurplePansy05 · 01/08/2021 13:55

@biscuitcat 3ml?! Wow! That's a lot! What syringes do you use if you don't mind me asking? xx

WinterBabyof89 · 01/08/2021 14:07

@biscuitcat That’s very handy to have stored away ahead of time.

@sarah13xx haha our OHs sound alike in how they deal with all this baby making/bodily functions associated with baby. He’s of the ‘need to know’ mentality whereas I feel I’m being inclusive ha

Happy colostrum harvesting for the week ahead!

Aaaaa1519 · 01/08/2021 14:14

Happy birth month everyone so pleased to be at this stage I remember being about 8 weeks completely run down with HG thinking when will it be August. It seems to have simultaneously dragged and flown by

Really thought I was finally having real contractions last night, regular pains coming for an hour but unfortunately they disappeared as soon as I went bathroom. Very disappointed but hopefully soon

Aaaaa1519 · 01/08/2021 14:18

In ref to the colostrum I tried following that video someone posted but I get nothing, wonder if it’s just not there yet or if I’m doing something wrong.
Any idea if I can use a breast pump and try? Managed to get an unused Medela swing pump for free 😁

sarah13xx · 01/08/2021 14:34

@Aaaaa1519 I think the reason you’re meant to do it by hand is so little comes out that it would just get stuck in a pump and you couldn’t collect it. I’ve spent a bit more time today looking into it all after my little boost of confidence with it and it seems heat and a massage beforehand are really important. A lot of people say to do it in the bath or straight after a bath/shower in a dressing gown to stay warm. I’m going to try again tomorrow in the bath. I just kept pushing my two fingers back (towards my back) then together sort of squeezing behind the nipple and it seemed to be working.

@WinterBabyof89 haha definitely 🤣 not even sure how he’s going to cope on the day of the section since he tries not to listen to so much of it 🙈 He’ll just have to shut his eyes I think!
