Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

love - no we don't have pet insurance. we've intended to sort it out since we got our first two years ago but we've just never got around to it. We're definately sorting it out in the new year though and hopefully never ever needing it. As for the c-section worry, I think you're right not to let it worry you! My mate had an emergency c-section with her first and prefered it to the trouble she was having during labour so much that she's having an elective this time round. It has it's risks but so do all ways of giving birth. The important thing is getting the baby out of you in the safest way for both of you at the time. How it's done is almost irrelevant. That's my opinion anyway!

Have been in hospital since thursday night again!!! Contractions started at 10-15 mins got down to every 4 minutes and lasting 3 minutes each so of we went again, really thought this was it this time.
Examined when we got in cervix still closed ,examined again after 5 hrs and cervix still closed so gave in to the diamorphine they had been offering after using the gas and air so far.Cx stopped eventually and i came home today at 4ish. Feel absolutely shocking still and not convinced its finished with yet to be honest ,still feel like my body is labouring so will try to keep updated.
Am looking at being induced possibly a week on wednesday/thursday so 36+3 due to spd amonst other things.

love - just make sure DH knows what he's looking for and where!

Mini!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello lass, great to hear from you. Sorry to hear you've been in hospital again. Those babies are not going to let you take it easy are they! Hang in there, you can do it!!

OP posts:
leesmum · 29/12/2007 18:50

Oh mini i was wondering how you were getting on

You sound so fed up, i bet you are ready now for the babies to arrive, at least you know they are a decent weight. Are you happy to be induced next week? and how has your wonderfull Dh been coping with the other kids?
Take care and get your feet up woman!!xx

LOVEMYMUM · 29/12/2007 19:06

PK - i totally agree with you about how the baby gets out is irrelevant. I personally think that too many women are anti c-section and epidural, when in the end it is the woman's decision, depending on the circumstances and MEDICAL advice. The bag will be labelled!

Mini - just try to relax and hopefully they will stay in for a little bit longer. 36 weeks is good for twins. My great-grandmother gave birth to twin girls in 1907 and my great-aunt is still going strong at 96. (Grandma died in 1991 after a stroke). Twins are resilient!!

Pk616 · 29/12/2007 19:38

I've actually put a few pictures up on the old profile now. no impressive bump pics though as none have been taken since september!

lovemymum, its an East Coast changing table with the removable bath, I think it was the Clara one. As I said I didn't want it originally, but when I came out of hospital with a 3rd degree tear, copious internal stiches, broken coccycx and arthritis brought on by the birth, it turned out to be the best thing ever!

I don't know why but I'm really irritable at the moment, just turned 32 weeks and I can hardley take a couple of steps without getting Braxton Hicks. and DP has MANFLU, I have no sympathy especially as he hasn't got up to do morning feed for me for months.

My darling Mum bought us a crib yesterday, so I'm not feeling so panicky. Hopefully, it should last for 6 months, as baby will have to be in with us for as long as possible, we only have two bedrooms.

Decided to get a buggy board for DD and hold off getting a double pram for the moment. She'll be 20 months when baby born.

Still haven't done my hospital bag, got mat pads and paper knickers jumping out of cupboards at me. Do I need nipple pads even if I'm not breast feeding this time, anyone know??

Take care everyone, its getting sooo close now. xx

alkar · 30/12/2007 11:22

Hope you are still doing OK mini, sounds like the little ones will be here soon.

Had an interesting night last night, found a live mouse in the nursery - cat wouldn't come out of there so I knew something was there but thought it was one of his toys. Had a look and there was a mouse looking up at me! Lots of screaming later (such a girl) DH came to catch it but it was too quick and ended up inside the new car seat base!!!!! Put the base in the shed overnight then it would have a chance to escape but I think its still in there. Gonna have to break the base to get it out I think. Love cats but hate it when they catch things - I am a veggie and cant handle it at all. DH grew up on a small farm though and thankfully it doesn't bother him.

ExpectingKat · 30/12/2007 11:28

Hi all, hope everyone had a good christmas and are looking forward to new year.
I am sorry has been such a long while since I last posted life's been hectic!
I have tried to read up on evryone but theres so much lol I hope everyone is ok and babies are all doing well
Well I'm 34wks on tuesday and I'm counting the days, twins are growing well one fair bit smaller than other one but the docters keepin close eye and seem happy so far, I find it funny cos you get people sayin wow your huge and others sayin your not very big for twins!
Part of the reason why things been so hectic is DH got made redundent in november after neary 17 yrs, just in time for DD2 bday and christmas then DS bday soon and twins arriving (lifes been great)
Well i thought I would pop in and say hi, sorry for the long post
Take care all

Slacker · 30/12/2007 13:04

Lovemymum - couldn't disagree with you more that how the baby gets out is irrelevant, I don't think it's any coincidence that my gentle births have resulted in chilled out babies. But each to their own.

Alkar - eek mice! hate them! Had one in the house last year when DH was away, and I freaked out for about 2 days till he came back and found its corpse (cat got it in the end)

ExpectingKat - hope your DH's job hunt goes well, could be handy if he's still around when your babies come though. I'm a bit worried that mine will be 2+ hours away at work and will miss it all...

Mini - glad you're hanging in there, sounds like those babies will be here sooner rather than later though - at least they're good weights now.

I definitely have a 'tidier bump' this time than I did last time, can still wear pre preg trousers whereas last time my backside had grown almost as big as my front! Think that was a girl bump whereas this is a boy bump, much as I hate to go along with old wives' tales. 35w today and I don't feel too huge, no Braxton Hicks, no major discomforts even (heartburn has pretty much gone since I realised that eating satsumas triggered it). So I'm in no way desperate to get the baby out, it's much easier carrying it around inside than out! Hope it holds on till 41 weeks (half term) as that will be easier all round.

Keep well everyone and looking forward to the next birth announcement (Ladle your girls look gorgeous, hope they're doing well).

SallyInYorkshire · 30/12/2007 15:06

lol at everyone packing their hospital bags and wondering how they're going to fit everything in... I have been buying stuff from the "what to pack in your hosp bag" list on the mamas and papas website, and i think I'd need a string of porters to carry it all for me! Think the idea of having several, clearly-labelled bags (to cater for all eventualities) is a good one. Remember not to bring anything TOO nice or valuable because in hosp there is always the chance it will get nicked

ExpectingKat - sorry to hear about your DH's redundancy, hope you are bearing up well - this happened to my DH last winter (although his was after only 2 years of working with that employer, so redundancy pay not that great!) and i can really sympathise. It's very stressful for the whole family esp when well meaning friends and relatives keep asking "has your dh got a job yet?" every other second!!! Good luck to him in the job-hunt anyway.

Slacker - am v envious you feel so well and can still wear your pre preg trousers - I am MASSIVE and knackered and still only 32 weeks... arrgghh not looking forward to going back to work after the Christmas break!!!!

Best wishes to all esp to all the twin pregs out there....

LOVEMYMUM · 30/12/2007 18:07

Sally - when do you go on mat leave? When you stop work hopefully you will feel better.

Expectingkat: Sorry to hear about DH's job. Any luck with the job-hunting?

Bluedomino: Thanks for the info - off to Google it now.

Slacker: I think the VB -v- c-section discussion (argument?) is one on which every woman has different opinions. Maybe i'll feel different after i've experienced birth. I know its a very emotive subject and also a bad birth experience can maybe affect one bonding with one's child and the child's temperament (my mum is a psychologist with a special interest in children). I just have a policy at the moment of keeping as calm and relaxed as i can, especially as my BP gets higher if i worry.

I hope i haven't offended you or anyone else who has a strong opinion on the matter.

brusselbeansprouts · 30/12/2007 19:30

Kat - sorry to hear about dh's job. Fingers crossed he finds something better in the near future.

Alkar - you have my full sympathy on the mouse front. We have been plagued with them for most of the year. I am also a veggie who shows no mercy when it comes to the little critters. If you want to chat about the ways of the mouse, let me know, I can talk about it for hours!!!

C-sections vs natural births - I had an emergency section with ds but got a happy child out of it. I think there are many factors and the hard time women give themselves over their "failure" to give birth does not help. I spent a fair while thinking I had failed at the first hurdle of motherhood which was not true of course.
I do really think that we can't take credit or blame for how our bodies are able to give birth, or not. Sometimes there are just factors involved which are difficult and it's just how it is. All together now: God grant me the serenity....

And best of luck to all you twin carriers. Mini - sounds like you are ready to go. Best wishes to all of you when the time comes!

SallyInYorkshire · 30/12/2007 23:10

Well when I go on mat leave is flexible to an extent, I can prob start in a fortnight's time if i like but then I will be only 34 weeks and eats into the time I will get with the baby (which is limited by financial constraints - I am the main contributor to the mortgage!). So I was hoping to keep working as long as poss maybe doing short weeks (using odd days of annual leave and half days of ante-natal class leave) to give myself enough rest.

But (I tell myself) I am not going to feel guilty if I do end up going on mat leave earlier than planned. brusselbeansprout makes a really good point about the pressure women put themselves under and the destructive power of guilt.

rozzyraspberry · 31/12/2007 11:29

Had my 34 week check up this morning. Baby fine - I'm measuring 36cm but midwife thinks he'll be around average about 8lbs.

He's back to back at the moment so I've to get on all fours a few times a day and not sit slouched on my comfy sofa. She also said that 3rd labours are usually longer anyway so to try and get him to move to make it a bit quicker. DH is going to blow up my gym ball for me so sitting on that will make me sit up straighter so fingers crossed he'll move. She also said that because I was only a couple of days late with ds1 and 5 days early with ds2 I'll probably go on time. I have to have a look at my birth plan before my next appointment. All beginning to seem a bit real now!

Have a nice new year everyone. We're not doing anything but I've made a nice home made curry to compensate for the lack of alcohol!!

leesmum · 31/12/2007 11:46

Hi everyone

Rozzy my lo is back to back as well but he is also 2/5th engaged, i keep getting on all fours but i dont know how much good it's doing, what i do know is that in the past 2 days i've had some terrible pains in the fanny area. I am 36 weeks today!! so maybe he has just moved down a bit more.

Kat sorry to hear about your Dh's job, how crap is that after 17 years!!

Whats everyone doing tonight? i think it's a curry for us then i'll fall asleep at 10pm as usuall

Happy New Year to you all xxxxxxx

wotsits · 31/12/2007 11:51

Ooh, we're now talking about hospital bags! Will try to pack more sensibly this time (but will include a plastic jug as advised elsewhere on this thread/MN) I'm 33 weeks so will start packing next week. This week I will be mostly sorting out DD's newborn clothes to see if I need to supplement anything for unborn DS.
Slacker, I'm like you - a tidier bump this time round compared to when I was carrying DD. Am still wearing pre-pregnancy Wallis trousers but admittedly they are one size bigger than my normal pre-pregnancy size and also a generous cut. Went to Mothercare looking for trousers and couldn't find anything to fit 'nicely'. It'll have to be joggers, I s'pose.
Happy New Year everyone! All those due before Chinese New Year will be having little golden pigs - apparently that's very special.

Jambuttie · 31/12/2007 11:57

Hi Ladies

Happy new yr to you all!!!!!

Just a wee note to say mini is back in hozzy!!!, She had quite a bleed about 12.30am which thankfully has stopped.

Sure she will fully update you on everything when she is home but meantime I will pop in and out and update u all

Pk616 · 31/12/2007 11:58

I know it's the last day of the month but I'd actually forgotten that it's new years eve!! how daft is that!

HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES

the bairn's had a big growth spurt or something over the last 24 hours 'cause I feel the most uncomfortable I've ever felt, i'm sure there's worse to come!

I'm off to the hospital in a mo for my Anti-D. DP's coming with me though so at least I won't have any trouble getting me shoe back on afterwards!

Kat - bad news about your DH. I hope the new year brings better luck for you both.

Jam - Thank You for letting us know about mini. Send her our best wishes

brusselbeansprouts · 31/12/2007 12:03

Thanks Jam!! Please send her our best wishes.

This has to be the most un-NYE like NYE ever!! All I want to do is to crawl back into bed. I wouldn't go out tonight if you paid me (which is just as well!!)

I can carve a perfectly good evening out of a box of Celebrations and a Colin Firth film though, so hey, I'll make the best of it...

Does anyone's bump just feel too darn tight?

alkar · 31/12/2007 12:11

Yes bump feels very tight can't believe there is any more room in there for him to grow more!

Hope everyone has a good NYE we are having curry too, seems quite popular this evening!

Chinese friend said its chinese new year on the 6th Feb and its lucky if your baby is born on that date....
