Stressed over some articles about stress 🙄

A 2015 study published in Endocrinology found that stress in the first trimester can actually affect the microbes that reside in an expectant mother's vagina. These microbes are transferred to the newborn during vaginal birth, resulting in changes to the little one's gut microbiome and brain development. In turn, the affected microbes impact the infant's immune system and metabolism. Scientists believe that the altered gut microbiota is linked to a greater risk of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism and schizophrenia.

I had huge huge stress in first trimester now 29 weeks. Don't know how did I get to read this but i freaked me out totally. Anyone knows something about this?

I'm always skeptical about articles linking stress and baby's development.

High stress in 1st trimester due to genetic testing

Unimaginable stress in 3rd trimester due to husband dropping dead.

Daughter very bright etc.

I think there may well be a link tbh. I was very stressed out when pregnant with my first and she was a high-needs baby. Now 3 yo, bright but definitely struggles socially and has some sensory issues. Developmentally normal and, if she has ASD, masks it well at nursery as they've no concerns at present beyond her being a bit shy. Time will tell if she grows out of the issues and is just a bit introverted or whether there'll be something diagnosable that becomes evident as she ages.

If it's the microbiota of the vagina that's of concern, would a C-section bypass that problem?

Purely anecdotal as this is just me but I was in a state of high anxiety the whole of my first pregnancy due to health problems, losing my job and general anxiety about the baby. He’s 4 now and he’s absolutely perfect, very chilled and happy, no behaviour problems, bright and funny.

My second one who I had a very relaxed pregnancy is much more trouble 😂
